About Champion Center
Crestwood Champion Healing Center used to be known as the Champion Center. It’s based in Lompoc, California. They offer treatment for drug and alcohol abuse and co-occurring mental and behavioral health disorders. Once you enroll, you’ll have options for inpatient treatment, outpatient programs, dual diagnosis treatment, and aftercare. Their main clientele are adults, but they also have specialized care for seniors and clients who suffer from trauma.
At Crestwood Champion, inpatient care starts with a personal evaluation and customized treatment plan. Three levels of inpatient care are available. Which one you enroll in is determined by how acute your condition is. In each option, you’ll have group and individual therapy, community outreach, holistic therapy, emotion management and life skills development, and career coaching. All levels feature cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy approaches to prevent relapse.
After the inpatient program ends, you’ll transition into outpatient treatment. You’ll still have group and individual therapy, emotional stabilization, and interventions. The main goal is independent living and managing your symptoms when you go back to your communities. To help do this, you might receive a mentor and should participate in local events.
The center is accredited by CARF, so you know they meet a professional level of care.

Levels of Care
Outpatient
Champion Center offers onsite outpatient treatment. Outpatient levels of care are appropriate for individuals who are medically and psychiatrically stable and are motivated to change their lives through a structured, robust treatment experience. Available Monday through Saturday, outpatient services are offered concurrently with the inpatient program. Outpatient therapy groups and activities are scheduled each day from early morning into the evening. Modified schedules are available based upon individual needs or circumstances. A length of stay may be up to 60 days when clinically indicated.
Inpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements. At The Oaks, 24-hour care is provided by Certified Chemical Dependency Counselors, Family Therapists, Recreational Therapists, Yoga Instructors, Full-time, part-time and per diem staff to support early recovery and provide a safe environment to optimize drug and alcohol treatment. Stays range from 14 to 60 days, offering our patients an intense yet invigorating and inspiring pathway to personal freedom and recovery. Assessment and referral services are provided to the community free of charge.
Intensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
Aftercare
Rehab aftercare programs offer clients in addiction recovery a robust continuum of care after clients have completed active treatment. These services address recovery as a life-long process and are designed to evolve with clients' changing needs. Clients may partner with their case managers and/or addiction recovery team to identify the rehab aftercare services that are right for them. They may receive career counseling, housing assistance, peer coaching, 12 step program induction, among many other services.
12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
Intervention Services
When an individual is in denial about their substance use disorder, their loved ones may organize a drug intervention in California. This effort involves gently but assertively confronting the individual about their substance use and sharing how it has affected those who care about them. A professional interventionist may also attend this gathering. Their expertise with intervention services can prove helpful in guiding the conversation to a positive result.
Partial Hospitalization Program
Commonly known as "day treatment," a partial hospitalization program (PHP) is an intensive form of outpatient treatment where clients meet during the day and return home in the evening. PHP treatment doesn't require 24-hour care and often serves as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or a step-down after a residential program. With PHP treatment, you can receive daily support for 6 to 8 hours which includes evidence-based therapies and medication management. The cost of PHP treatment typically varies but averages 90 days.
Medically Assisted Detox
Medical detoxification (detox) is the first step on the road to recovery from addiction. Located in Lompoc, California, Champion Center is licensed as a hospital and is uniquely qualified and equipped to assure a safe, effective, comfortable, and successful medical detoxification on a 34-bed unit in Chemical Dependency Rehabilitation Hospital (CDRH) licensed beds. Around-the-clock registered nursing care and daily physician visits are just a part of the superior standard of care provided at Champion Center’s Medical Services Unit (MSU). Diagnostic testing, a medical history and physical, and a psychiatric evaluation are utilized as part of our Santa Barbara drug detox program to establish baseline health status and form the foundation for an individualized addiction treatment plan.

Treatment
Alcoholism
The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.
Drug Addiction
Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.
Dual Diagnosis
Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.
Mental Health and Substance Abuse
A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.
Opioid Addiction
Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.
Clinical Services
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive behavioral therapy in California is a method that therapists often use for the effective treatment of substance use disorders. It is based on the principle that substance abuse stems from unhelpful ways of thinking and patterns of behavior, which can be changed by helping the individual learn better ways of coping.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy
While participating in dialectical behavior therapy in California, you'll focus on four key areas of skill development: mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance. Treatment includes weekly individual and group sessions.
Group Therapy
Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.
Individual Therapy
In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.
Motivational Interviewing
For clients who are struggling with ambivalence toward change, motivational interviewing in California can help strengthen their commitment to change. Using a conversational method, the therapist helps you explore your motivations and empowers you to make the changes you desire.
Trauma Therapy
Trauma therapy is a structured approach used by therapists to help you heal from a past traumatic event. Your therapist works with you to identify the traumatic memory and process the information so you experience emotional healing and a sense of safety and stability.
Couples Therapy
The goal of couples therapy in California is to strengthen the couple's relationship. The therapist may take one or more approaches to counseling which may include the Gottman method, emotionally focused therapy, behavioral therapy, and psychodynamic couple's therapy.
Family Therapy
Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.
