We have returned from overseas now for about 2 years. My wife has tried to establish a PCM. After being assigned a PCM then, changing without notice and reassigning her another physician on the team then seeing that Dr. she was given prescriptions to pickup at base pharmacy. But there were computer problems and was told to come back . A week later she returns to pharmacy to pick up her medication and they have no records showing she has any medications. She goes to see the Dr. The desk clerk says they have no record of her having a previous appointment with that Dr and no notes reflecting any notes showing she had any prescriptions. We go see the Patient Advocate. A very young man later found out was a LT. He takes her Military ID and leads us to his office. Basically relayed everything I ve already noted here. He looked up her information on his system tells us he needs to speak with the physician about the confusion, My wife says in our car she has a folder with all the Patient Checkout information the Dr had given her and will go retrieve it while he contacted the Dr. As she returned to the desk, the clerk told her the Patient Advocate located her information and she can now pickup her medications. When she gets to the pharmacy she realizes she doesn t have her ID Card she left with the Advocate and he never returned it to her. We again return to the desk and are told the Advocate is out to lunch and won t return for an hour. I informed them we are not waiting an hour and demand the ID Card now. They contact the Advocate and he says he left the ID Card with the desk clerk. The desk clerk says she gave it to my wife when she instructed her to pickup her meds at the pharmacy. Using my ID card I picked up her meds at the pharmacy. The Advocate returns from lunch and tells us the clerk has left for lunch and they can t seem to locate the ID card. I had a heavy discussion with the Advocate and he s making arrangements for my wife to get a new ID Card. Unbelievable! This place is incompetent!! Not even Patient Advocates can get it right!!

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

During rehab in Texas, you'll deal with underlying issues that contribute to addiction. By addressing these challenges and learning healthy ways to cope with them, you'll develop strategies that help you live a drug-free lifestyle.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

My son came into the ER. 3 HOURS in the doc said I don't know what it could be and random tests on the dart board began. Had 102.7 temp gave him mortin, 30 minutes later 103 temp was told by doctor he woild get tylenol through IV. 1 hour 30 minutes later no Tylenol no retest of temperature. I called for tech and finally was told waiting on doctor. Currently over 7 hours and from the walk of the hall, one other patient and still nothing. Asked several times whats going on and all I get it is waiting on doctor. Inexcusable care with minimal patients. Have to see what an emergency or them busy would look like.

This is for the LAB. You used to be able to call, make a lab appointment, get your labs and out. Now there is a website. I called to get the site as I needed to cancel my lab appointment. The young lady answering couldn t be bothered to say her name. Tried to give me the website so fast Flash couldn t have written it down. Asked her to please slow down. Got called a bi*ch and hung up on. wow. Nice service. I m already going out to BAMC to pick up my scripts (SOO much faster!!) I may as well get my labs there too. WH has DEFINITELY gone so far downhill, their customer service is in an ABYSS!!!
