outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

During rehab in Texas, you'll deal with underlying issues that contribute to addiction. By addressing these challenges and learning healthy ways to cope with them, you'll develop strategies that help you live a drug-free lifestyle.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

substance-abuse iconSubstance Abuse

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

life-skills iconLife Skills

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Wish I could give this racist place 0 stars. The doctor basically treated me like I was crackhead and wouldn't even touch me. Just kept asking how many pain pills I wanted. Turned out I had viral meningitis. I was admitted into BAMC. He didn't even take blood. Literally just asked me how many pain pills am I seeking. No symptoms or anything. Black dependents beware

This is for the LAB. You used to be able to call, make a lab appointment, get your labs and out. Now there is a website. I called to get the site as I needed to cancel my lab appointment. The young lady answering couldn t be bothered to say her name. Tried to give me the website so fast Flash couldn t have written it down. Asked her to please slow down. Got called a bi*ch and hung up on. wow. Nice service. I m already going out to BAMC to pick up my scripts (SOO much faster!!) I may as well get my labs there too. WH has DEFINITELY gone so far downhill, their customer service is in an ABYSS!!!

General:Put up a directory at every entrance. When the info desk is unmanned, give directions to the other info desks.Put up a temporary directory OUTSIDE so patients can know which door to go into (since construction blocks the 'front entrance')Lab work draw: Post WRITTEN instructions for patients who have already scheduled an appointment online.Allow patients to see the lab work instructions in MHS Genesis. I was told to fast on the phone, but the tech did NOT ask if I was fasting. I will find out either way when I get my test results.

Pcsd here recently with my family. Had to switch back to prime to be seen in a good time frame because all off base doctors had long waits and I needed refills for my medicine I have been on for years. A very basic anxiety medicine.Saw the doctor got my prescription it wasn't a problem. Saw her again another visit to get on another important medicine. She told me to schedule an appt 20 to 30 days after that 2nd appt we had so we can do a vitals check. I did exactly that but one of the medicines I was prescribed runs out before the visit and the second one basically is out the day of the doctors visit which is cutting it close but not the end of the world.. I try to get a refill on my basic medicine and I swear it's like pulling teeth with this clinic to get someone to help me without arguing with me. They won't give me a refill but suggest I got get an emergency short term supply until my appt.. i followed the doctors instructions about scheduling within a certain time frame. If she wanted to see me before that she should have said something. I was only told she wanted to see me for 1 of the medicines not both for refills. But now I have to potentially be out on a medicine I can't miss and have to take everyday because of miscommunication. When I tried to explain to the nurse on the phone I kept getting cut off and called ma'am very sternly and she kept repeating the same doctors notes which I was trying to explain to her that I was told something different at the last visit. It's a shame that this medical center is so hard to get in touch with let alone the communication is awful. I'm a stay at home mom with a special needs toddler and a baby and I have very limited time and I really really don't need to be argued with about a simple refill. On top of all of this with my medicine the pediatrician office never submitted the proper referrals for my son to get his eyes looked at and glasses also another very important referral was never submitted as well. He needs these services like yesterday so I don't understand why do I have to jump through fire for simple things from medical on lackland afb??? I am very upset. Finding the right phone number and someone actually answering the phone is a very rare thing apparently for this place. Ice complaints will be filed. I'm so sick of on base medicine. Ice complaints will be made and if I have to go higher up I will.

Your automated phone system ducks. You can't even get ahold of someone to talk to. I've tried 5 different numbers. How much did y'all waste on that?

My experience with the new Wilford Hall to date has been excellent. I have had multiple appointments here for dermatology, orthopedics, older man colonoscopy, etc. No issues at all. The building itself is very nice and laid out logically, with solid signage. Overall, they did a good job planning out the replacement of the old facility.
