Bunk beds and classes from the time you get up until the time you go to bed, this place was complete bull! As an atheist I struggled with the hard core 12-step program. I ve been to luxury rehabs, this place is like adult summer camp.Yet here I am nearly 6 months later alive, happy, safe. I had been stuck in the cycle of addiction for longer than I can remember. If it was not for the Renewal Lodge, the staff, the other clients - I would be dead or in jail. I m not sure anyone hated it there as much as I did but it absolutely saved my life.It doesn t matter how many times you ve tried to get sober, it matters that you keep trying. Don t give up, you are not alone and there is help.A special thank you to Theron and Hunter.

Long story short, 35 years of hard drinking landed me in a ditch in a city I'm not even from. But I thank GOD every day for it! My desperation for change got me to Briarwood detox center. I was so scared but I was unusually willing to do anything, the night before waking up in that ditch I was contemplating suicide, again. For so many years I watched my life fall apart time and time again, over and over. I really never understood why I was unable to control my drinking. Leaving Briarwood and while being transported to Nova recovery center I didn't know what to expect but my anger and anxiety were already building. I still can't get over how amazing Nova looks, it pretty much relaxes you the minute you arrive! I had never been to "rehab" before so I was blown away by the beauty of the amenities and the attentive staff. So with that said, I was sweet and grateful to be there for about 48 hours and then I started being the walking talking character defect stage character I was, telling everyone how they should do their jobs and finding things, if not inventing things to complain about. I still get embarrassed sometimes of my actions and comments I made the first weeks of my stay. But what stands out is how the staff didn't even blink! I never got the reaction I would of deserved! I was loved on! I was given understanding and compassion! They treated me like the sick person who needed help, that I was! They dug in and held me accountable with truth and what I referrer to as grace. The Recovery specialist who work with us, for us and teach us vital solutions to my disease of alcoholism that I will be forever grateful for. From the frequent individual counseling sessions to the daily group counseling classes to the, "hey I need to talk!", I received an understanding of how to maintain my life of sobriety! Nova is a very important and special place to me so I could really go on and on but the main point I want to testify about is this, I'm truly a better person today because of the dedication to helping people by the Nova recovery family!Sincerely,Dustin

I really love this clinic, all the nurses with no exceptions are so kind and very nice, they always keep a smile in their faces, even though they have to put up with a lot of different people, also the Doctor is super nice and understanding. All what you have to do is follow the rules and you will have a very smooth way to recovery, as my counselor Stephanie said they are not our enemy, they are there to help us, so if they ask you for a urin simple or something just do it because that can save your life.Anyway, I recommend this clinic to anyone that is struggling with the addiction, there is help out there, don t give up.Ok the only bad thing about the higher management is that they love money, if you miss couple of payments they will make your recovery super hard, to me they are exactly like the drug dealers in the street, you get your drugs if you pay,( again it s the higher management), but the clinic staff are very nice.

My councilor, Jeff, saved my life. The others are great as well. They all take turns and teach classes for you through out the day. It's 6 hours a day of education, great food, beds are very comfortable and the property doesn't make you feel confined.Jeff, you're the best You can keep your cell and laptop, just not turned on in classes. You are set up with aftercare so you have a sustainable plan moving forward along with the tools to succeed where most don't.With over 40% of our nation addicted to some sort of substance and 60% of our country prescribed an Anxiety or Depression R/X, you don't need to feel bad about getting help.Scientists have proven addiction to alcohol is a destructive disease & there is treatment that can set you up for your new life.If it was Diabetes, or Cancer, you would get help immediately. Addiction is no different and doesn't care how old you are, the color of your skin, nor does it matter if you are a Doctor or Lawyer.I am surrounded by people of all sorts and you won't want to leave after 4 weeks, the path forward is clear by then but this will be something you have to work on for the rest of your life.Best Wishes to the Staff here & for the reader, it's a small investment for your future that you can do for yourself & your family..

I can't get an appt. for a new problem for a month or so but can go to any VA emergency rm. or several urgent/em. care centers in the nearby community. I get labs in Palestine and community care for dental and other procedures at Athens, BCS etc.. I kinda live in the woods. This place saved my life. Went there in 2011. I'm 36 now and once awhile I wonder what if I didn't, would I still be here. My doctor at the time was Betty F. Cannot remember her last name, but she was really the best. She opened my eyes and taught me I wasn't crazy and there wasn't really anything wrong with me. Said my "parents" got lazy with me because it was just more convenient for them if I was ignorant. They weren't really my parents, but merely caregivers. They didn't want to be my parents and it showed. Took one phone call on the speaker with Betty and my dad (without him knowing) she wanted me to hear it myself what he and my stepmom would say about me. Scapegoat in families is a real unfortunate problem when it comes to mental health and disabilities. Betty F. knew how to gain my trust and she knew how to pull me out the nightmare I was living. I will forever be extremely thankful for the life skills I learned in the groups. Almost 13 years later I looked this place up just hoping they're still in business. If I ever make a million dollars, I will definitely invest in them. The classes that teach you life skills and how to interact with others is beneficial in ways you don't learn in school. Mental health is essential. I'm hoh and it still taught me so much. Coping skills will be your life jacket and learning to be your own best friend will be the most challenging and rewarding experience. Retrain your thoughts, redirect your thoughts. Took years, but the "bad" thoughts gets better. They tone down and eventually fade. Always practice redirecting thoughts, triggers come and go. But doesn't hit as bad. Rely on the coping skills to get through every bad day. Because your best days will come and you'll know life can be good. You have to focus on what you can do and stay busy on positive things. Anyway, I just wanted to say I am so very grateful for this place and opportunities they give people to live a better life and have a great future. They did for me.

I am 2 months sober now and super grateful for the Cenikor Foundation! The Directors, Intake Team, Behavioral Health Technicians, Counselors and Kitchen Team were AMAZING!Each and every one of the staff at the facility I was at are also in recovery and there for the whole community and met my every need and would stop what they were doing to provide me with whatever I needed.Cenikor provided me the structure I needed to work on myself. Cenikor provided me with a bed, dresser, clean towels and toiletries whenever needed, 3 amazing meals a day and snacks at night, one on one counseling, group counseling, informal classes, plenty of breaks in between classes and a lights out bedtime to ensure 8 hours of sleep. I was also on proper meds to help with alcohol detox.Cenikor brought in outside recovery groups nightly to share their experience, strength and hope. I met plenty of amazing recovering alcoholics/addicts that are clean and sober that were once in my position and inspiring the community nightly through sharing their stories.I highly recommend Cenikor for anyone struggling with alcohol or drug addiction! They truly care and provided me with everything I needed to work on myself and continue my sobriety journey.
