Long story short, 35 years of hard drinking landed me in a ditch in a city I'm not even from. But I thank GOD every day for it! My desperation for change got me to Briarwood detox center. I was so scared but I was unusually willing to do anything, the night before waking up in that ditch I was contemplating suicide, again. For so many years I watched my life fall apart time and time again, over and over. I really never understood why I was unable to control my drinking. Leaving Briarwood and while being transported to Nova recovery center I didn't know what to expect but my anger and anxiety were already building. I still can't get over how amazing Nova looks, it pretty much relaxes you the minute you arrive! I had never been to "rehab" before so I was blown away by the beauty of the amenities and the attentive staff. So with that said, I was sweet and grateful to be there for about 48 hours and then I started being the walking talking character defect stage character I was, telling everyone how they should do their jobs and finding things, if not inventing things to complain about. I still get embarrassed sometimes of my actions and comments I made the first weeks of my stay. But what stands out is how the staff didn't even blink! I never got the reaction I would of deserved! I was loved on! I was given understanding and compassion! They treated me like the sick person who needed help, that I was! They dug in and held me accountable with truth and what I referrer to as grace. The Recovery specialist who work with us, for us and teach us vital solutions to my disease of alcoholism that I will be forever grateful for. From the frequent individual counseling sessions to the daily group counseling classes to the, "hey I need to talk!", I received an understanding of how to maintain my life of sobriety! Nova is a very important and special place to me so I could really go on and on but the main point I want to testify about is this, I'm truly a better person today because of the dedication to helping people by the Nova recovery family!Sincerely,Dustin

I really love this clinic, all the nurses with no exceptions are so kind and very nice, they always keep a smile in their faces, even though they have to put up with a lot of different people, also the Doctor is super nice and understanding. All what you have to do is follow the rules and you will have a very smooth way to recovery, as my counselor Stephanie said they are not our enemy, they are there to help us, so if they ask you for a urin simple or something just do it because that can save your life.Anyway, I recommend this clinic to anyone that is struggling with the addiction, there is help out there, don t give up.Ok the only bad thing about the higher management is that they love money, if you miss couple of payments they will make your recovery super hard, to me they are exactly like the drug dealers in the street, you get your drugs if you pay,( again it s the higher management), but the clinic staff are very nice.

I attended BRC in 2016, at my lowest in life. Today I m over 5+ years sober and live a fulfilling life beyond what I deemed possible for an addict like me. I m genuinely happy. BRC has legitimately stuck with me to this day and I remain in contact with peers. The bonds I made run strong and it was an experience I ll never forget. BRC didn t offer me an easier softer way only to let me fail later. BRC gave me the truth and a real solution to take with me, reconnected me with the 12 steps and followed through to transition back into the world. If you re looking at treatment centers it should be said - if you have unrealistic expectations of a treatment center, such as it being the cure, you re wildly mistaken. If you re looking for the quick fix, it doesn t exist in recovery from addiction. I had been to numerous treatment centers around the country, and as a chronic relapser I have bitter experience to show for failed attempts at sobriety. Getting a year or 3 years here and there just to burn it all down. What BRC did for me and continues to do for others is provide a space to implement in real time the necessary tools and principles - a solution to all my problems based out of the 12 steps. A solution that lasts and keeps me free, so long as I continue to practice disciplines and use what I was given. Ultimately BRC gave me a unique opportunity to practice these principles in an appropriate setting to start healing and living better, reinforced the tools and spiritual guidelines to show up as the man I always knew I could be, but could never do on my own.It is important to understand how many people take a jab with the low hanging fruit of they are all about money and profit, etc. which by the way I ve heard about literally every single rehab I ve ever been to by clients or families alike. Sure, they aren t a charity, sure it s not the budget of a state run facility or 30 day program. However, as someone who has been to state run facilities all the way to long term luxury treatment centers in Southern California, what BRC provided me was realistic and useful to regain my life for myself, my family, and friends. A real change. It s hard to put a price on that personally, after the fact. BRC also served as a mediator of sorts for me and my family regarding communication. I hated it at the time, but today I m closer with my family than ever and BRC helped mend those relationships undoubtedly.I have no skin in the game and where appropriate I have referred family friends to BRC, based on my experience. I can t say any place is perfect. There are treatment centers that evolve with the times. There are some downsides anywhere you go. But unlike other places I d been to, there wasn t tolerance for any disruption from healing and if there s a problem it is addressed. It s no secret the real work continues outside of BRC and they are very clear on this with clients and families, which I can appreciate. As a 4th month er 5+ years later sober and living a badass life, I m very thankful for my experience at BRC.

I have stayed at this hospital twice, both stays I was treated with care, concern and respect and so appreciated all the time outdoors we got on the large beautiful patio. You are able to spend at least half your time outside about which was HUGE in my recovery personally, I'm sad the new hospital will not offer this. My doctors seemed to have very genuine concern for me and the staff was really nice. I highly recommend this facility. Only complaint is that in my second stay there was no hot water for the women left after the men showered on that unit. Some of the staff was really wonderful and advocated for us to have a rotation or to be able to shower in the mornings however. Otherwise best hospital I've ever been to and I've been to a few. Daily classes are available, access to computers a couple times a week and peer support specialists.

This place saved my life. Went there in 2011. I'm 36 now and once awhile I wonder what if I didn't, would I still be here. My doctor at the time was Betty F. Cannot remember her last name, but she was really the best. She opened my eyes and taught me I wasn't crazy and there wasn't really anything wrong with me. Said my "parents" got lazy with me because it was just more convenient for them if I was ignorant. They weren't really my parents, but merely caregivers. They didn't want to be my parents and it showed. Took one phone call on the speaker with Betty and my dad (without him knowing) she wanted me to hear it myself what he and my stepmom would say about me. Scapegoat in families is a real unfortunate problem when it comes to mental health and disabilities. Betty F. knew how to gain my trust and she knew how to pull me out the nightmare I was living. I will forever be extremely thankful for the life skills I learned in the groups. Almost 13 years later I looked this place up just hoping they're still in business. If I ever make a million dollars, I will definitely invest in them. The classes that teach you life skills and how to interact with others is beneficial in ways you don't learn in school. Mental health is essential. I'm hoh and it still taught me so much. Coping skills will be your life jacket and learning to be your own best friend will be the most challenging and rewarding experience. Retrain your thoughts, redirect your thoughts. Took years, but the "bad" thoughts gets better. They tone down and eventually fade. Always practice redirecting thoughts, triggers come and go. But doesn't hit as bad. Rely on the coping skills to get through every bad day. Because your best days will come and you'll know life can be good. You have to focus on what you can do and stay busy on positive things. Anyway, I just wanted to say I am so very grateful for this place and opportunities they give people to live a better life and have a great future. They did for me.
