I'm going on 80 days sober because this place helped me. I loved the Trauma inpatient program. PHP was okay, I felt like it was lacking counseling and also I felt like it was non stop getting in and out of busses. You'll get your phone on lunch and like 90min on Saturday which is nice. But on Sunday when you should be calling friends and family you don't get your phone. The house on 1st street stayed nasty. I brought it up to the techs several times and nothing changed. I would give this place 5 stars but the aftercare completely sucked. I had no idea how sober houses worked or how to get into one. I had to stress out my final day because I had nowhere to go. Also I had no idea how to get a scholarship or even fill my meds... im in their IOP program currently and I'm enjoying it. Aftercare definitely needs to be worked on. I've also talked to many people after they got through with PHP and they had the same opinion. Thanksz that's my Ted Talk.

This place simply put, saved my life. I, like many others, have been to multiple treatments. But it ended with ru. The reason it's so different from other rehabs, is one, yes, the use of the arts, particularly music in programing, but also their ALUMNI PROGRAM. it rly makes all of the difference. They focus on community while you're in there, but they also call you and check in on you after. So that when you leave, you're not just dropped off all alone. There's a meeting once every Wednesday for you to go to, and every month there's a party/show. Which acts as a huge open mic/"class reunion." Both of those are open to anyone who's ever received services here. I think another thing that rly makes a difference, is that they prepare you for the possibility of relapse. You will leave here with a safety plan. I read somewhere that their relapse rate was lower than other facilities in the area. And i belive it. Its the aftercare. I called once YEARS ago...but chickened out...and Britney from the alumni staff stayed in touch with me for literal years until I finally realized that there was no choice left but come in and get help...im still in touch with most of the clients i went through ru with, and all these years later, Britney and the alumni staff. These people specialize in slaying dragons right along with you...not all heroes wear capes. And I know they're some of mine. If you're seeking sobriety...please, come join the family.<3

Part 3 of 3So I told them I didn t want to talk to Ryan Rodriguez again and absolutely not alone. I told them this is a moot point and further discussion was just going to unnecessarily intensify emotions and possibly create arguments and communications that don t need to happen. I didn t need the process re-explained and I was content with leaving and my ride issue was solved.A few minutes later, they had Ryan and Jacky at my door. Ryan stood in the door way trying to be intimidating with his short stature and said he would press charges on me if I and my son continued to be rude and aggressive towards his staff. I sat on my bed to take me down to below his eye level so he could see I am not being aggressive or intimidating at all and told him my ride will be here at 8:30 and I ll be leaving. He then backed out of the door way and with arms still crossed he asked me to repeat what he had said alone in the room with me. I asked why, he couldn t remember his own conversation? So I went through the charades with him one last time. He then started getting an aggressive stature and loudly said they re gonna give me my phone and stuff now and I can wait in another building for my ride out on the roadside. He said it had ac and a couch and if I get aggressive or leave the building he ll have me arrested for trespassing and threatening harm to his staff.A short while later the RA Jacky who is different from the counselor, came and got my clothes so they could pack my stuff. She then went and got me a dinner plate and seated me in a counselors office alone to eat with a phone conveniently on the table. I was able to make a couple quick calls so I wasn t just stranded on the road side with my bags. Jacky seemed to know nothing about Ryan s plans of expediting things and placing me in the roadside building. My friend arrived at 8 and the RA Jacky and another nice RA male staff said they were almost done verifying my medications. They nicely brought my stuff out and loaded it into the car. I said I was supposed to get my phones a couple hours ago and she said no it s always done at the end of the four hour process. Further reiterating that Ryan Rodriguez doesn t do as he says or that there is a severe lack of communication. I think both have been the major part of my issues during my short 30 hour stay.Chelsea, the nurse was great but please know she is the only nurse and so no 24 hour nursing, Good luck finding an RA at night and stumbling across a dark parking lot.Ryan Rodriguez is not medically trained at all and looking at his linked in account, he has no certifications for counseling or teaching and it looks like he has just rooted his way up and through from the lowest level. Please believe your loved ones if they say there is something wrong here. The fact they call family behind your back instead of having an open line of communication is beyond me. They aren t truthful at all. The detox staff told us there were gourmet chefs, a nice pool which is now closed in Texas and they even told the women there are free weekly massages. I told them they would be charging for that for sure. They ll tell you anything to agree to get you in and then I liken it to a prison. They don t tell you about a seven day blackout where you won t be able to contact family and that every class and multiple meetings daily about AA and that you have to see it as your bible now and worship it.The clients here seem like great nice people and I was looking forward to having that bond. I can t be the first diabetic patient come thru this facility or the first person that eats healthy. The bottom line is this: If a patient chooses to leave, let them go. Not all facilities are a right fit for everyone. I agreed to the four hour policy but not to being harassed the entire time through the process and to be felt like I was being held hostage. I also didn t agree to them lying to my family about why I was discharging. They care about money and numbers and that is it.

This place saved my life. Went there in 2011. I'm 36 now and once awhile I wonder what if I didn't, would I still be here. My doctor at the time was Betty F. Cannot remember her last name, but she was really the best. She opened my eyes and taught me I wasn't crazy and there wasn't really anything wrong with me. Said my "parents" got lazy with me because it was just more convenient for them if I was ignorant. They weren't really my parents, but merely caregivers. They didn't want to be my parents and it showed. Took one phone call on the speaker with Betty and my dad (without him knowing) she wanted me to hear it myself what he and my stepmom would say about me. Scapegoat in families is a real unfortunate problem when it comes to mental health and disabilities. Betty F. knew how to gain my trust and she knew how to pull me out the nightmare I was living. I will forever be extremely thankful for the life skills I learned in the groups. Almost 13 years later I looked this place up just hoping they're still in business. If I ever make a million dollars, I will definitely invest in them. The classes that teach you life skills and how to interact with others is beneficial in ways you don't learn in school. Mental health is essential. I'm hoh and it still taught me so much. Coping skills will be your life jacket and learning to be your own best friend will be the most challenging and rewarding experience. Retrain your thoughts, redirect your thoughts. Took years, but the "bad" thoughts gets better. They tone down and eventually fade. Always practice redirecting thoughts, triggers come and go. But doesn't hit as bad. Rely on the coping skills to get through every bad day. Because your best days will come and you'll know life can be good. You have to focus on what you can do and stay busy on positive things. Anyway, I just wanted to say I am so very grateful for this place and opportunities they give people to live a better life and have a great future. They did for me.
