My sister is here for a heart procedure has been here since December 22. I get here December 23 to check on her and I m not even here an hour and a nurse comes into the room and accuses me or my sister who can t even get out of the bed of smoking. We informed her that we weren t smoking we wouldn t do something that reckless or stupid. Needless to say she goes and gets security to come in here to her room and check. Make sure we re not. They come in here and not so nicely accuse us again of smoking, even though no one even has cigarettes on their person. And the sad thing to say is that I ve been here at this hospital with my sister since 2 PM not a nurse one has come into this room except for one to accuse us of smoking. No one to check on my sister. No one to check on me just a smoking alert. And Security comes in and tells us that they will have us removed from the hospital if they smell smoke again. Rude and uncalled for sad that they would try to bully somebody that way and it s the power of suggestions all it was.

I just recently had a baby here on 12/17 and discharged on 12/19. I was not going to leave a review until I was released from the hospital and my meds were sent to a pharmacy that I did not have in my clinical file. I called back to the hospital after the pharmacy would not fill my RX. I was told by staff that they could not transfer the RX and I would need to be readmitted to the hospital to receive my pain medication, and other scripts they sent over.Martha Zavala Sent over 1 iron pill and 1 stool softener which cause a clarification error because why would you send over a script for one pill. After just having an C-section at 37 weeks you don t want to be told you can t get your meds. Although pain meds were finally sent successfully I sat on hold and called around in circles crying trying to figure this out. My whole experience was ruined because of this. I wouldn t suggest anyone to go to this hospital and it s a shame because there really are some nice professionals that work here.

I was induced Sept 25 and have birth Sept 28.The nurses were THE BEST!! EXCEPT until I experienced the NURSE FROM HELL and her name is Allison. My family and I experienced Allison and we nicked named her that, nurse from hell. She was aggressive with me, attitude with me and my family, not gentle, not compassionate, not happy, did not look like she loved her job, she was aggressive and not gentle right after I had given birth and I had to go use the restroom. I wanted to cry!!!! My mom told me if Allison didn t want to assist you by taking you to the rest room she should have just told me to do and I would ve been gentle . Allison was so aggressive in the restroom with me that my mom had to come check up on us. Allison also snatched the phone from my mom when she handed Allison her phone to record my husband cutting the umbilical cord. Allison also changed my mom s camera from video to camera for picture instead. Which was fine because I turned the live pictures on my mom s iPhone to videos. This was my first pregnant after 10 years of infertility and Allison wanted to ruin the memory of this birth. Thankfully Nurse Allison was only my nurse for 2 hours, since I gave birth during the start of her shift. Also during my transport to the post part in unit , Allison was rude. Did not wait for my husband to finish packing up our stuff so we can walk together with the baby. She wheeled me out the room , leaning my husband behind. But other than that ALL my nurses were TOP NOTCH!!! I appreciate them during my most vulnerable time of my life. Nurse June, the nurse after her. The nurse from that previous night , were the best!!!!!! Postpartum too. The nurses were top notch. I d choose to deliver my babies here again. But next time I would spend up of if I encounter another nurse like Allison. I should ve spoken out but I was out of it after giving birth. Things happened so quickly

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
After completing some form of inpatient care, many clients transition or step down to an outpatient rehab, while some choose to transition from detox directly into outpatient care. High-intensity outpatient programming, including partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) is widely available for clients in early recovery, those leaving detox, and those at an elevated relapse risk. Clients in outpatient care generally engage in robust addiction counseling and recovery education, and some also receive medication assisted treatment (MAT).
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehab programs are geared toward clients in early recovery. They also provide intensive support for clients in crisis and those at an increased relapse risk. Clients receive housing and meals while in inpatient care, allowing them to focus solely on their recovery. Most programs prioritize addiction counseling but may draw on various psychotherapeutic modalities, including CBT, DBT, RBT, trauma therapy, and motivational interviewing. Life skills training and holistic therapies are also common in inpatient care.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
The Texas Health Behavioral Health Intensive Outpatient Programs are for individuals needing a structured therapy program that offers counseling and education in a group setting. Clinicians work with physicians on the medical staff to provide daily support and a safe place to talk, learn problem-solving skills and practice stress-reduction techniques. Texas Health Behavioral Health also offers the following Specialized Intensive Outpatient Programs: Women, young adult and working professionals.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs are based on a model of continuing care and the premise that recovery is a life-long process requiring ongoing client support. Many rehab aftercare services include outpatient care, but clients often continue to receive support after being discharged from formal treatment. Case managers and care teams typically collaborate with clients to design their long-term care plan, which may include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction, among other services.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

During rehab in Texas, you'll deal with underlying issues that contribute to addiction. By addressing these challenges and learning healthy ways to cope with them, you'll develop strategies that help you live a drug-free lifestyle.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

I recently had my c-section here. The anesthesiologist Kyle and nurse Annie were great at easing my nerves. Kyle explained everything that he was doing.I called the pt care tech, Kristy to help have my 1st shower. When she came to the room she said you re supposed to be going to the bathroom on your own as if she didn t want to help me and made me feel like I was a bother. I explained to her that I had a c-section 24 hrs ago and stated I ve gone to restroom on my own but still have difficulty bending and needed help removing clothing. I asked for a CNA . She then stated that she is the CNA. She didn t seem to care about my patient safety or concerned that I might fall but expressed aggravation. She proceeded to help me and then her attitude did change after helping me.Nurse Bedriye was the most compassionate. She encouraged me to get up and even helped me take steps around the room. She was very caring and happy to assist with my needs.

I gave birth on November 30, 2024, and had an amazing experience with the healthcare team. From the moment I was admitted to the time I was discharged, everyone was kind, friendly, and attentive. Shoutout to the absolute BEST OBGYN! Although I can t remember all the names, the midwife and night staff were also incredible so helpful and dedicated. I would highly recommend this hospital for labor and delivery.

I have nothing but great things to say about Texas Health HEB. I was admitted 3 different times since May, and my experience was phenomenal. Everyone from the sweet cafeteria lady, to the custodians, nurses, technicians, and doctors, were absolutely amazing. Being in the hospital is a scary experience, but from the moment I entered the ER each time, every person treated me with such care. The chaplain, Mandy, came by twice during my stay to check in, and one of the therapists even prayed with me one day.Thank you to all of the staff that took care of me during this time. I have a whole new appreciation for the medical field after this experience.
