About Terros Health – Olive Health Center -Primary Care

Terros Health specializes in mental health and substance abuse treatment for people of all ages. They have three main locations in Arizona, including the Olive Health Center in Glendale. Here, they offer outpatient counseling and residential treatment to help you overcome your challenges and reclaim your life. You can attend in person or online depending on your schedule. They accept self payment, private insurance, Medicaid and Medicare.

Their counseling program gives you lots of options. You can meet with a counselor on your own, with your family, with your partner or in a group. The team is well versed in a variety of evidence based therapies including motivational interviewing, dialectical behavioral therapy and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing. In addition to counseling, they also offer recovery focused education, life skills training, parenting classes and medication services.

If you’re struggling with a drug or alcohol addiction, they can also provide medication assisted treatment in addition to outpatient therapy. This program allows you to recover with the support of FDA approved addiction medications that can minimize your pain, reduce your cravings and lower your relapse risk. The medications they use here include Suboxone, Vivitrol and Subutex.

If you need a higher level of care, they also operate a residential unit called Maverick House. Here, you can recover with round the clock care from a dedicated clinical team. While living on site, you’ll attend counseling, 12 Step meetings and other therapeutic activities according to your treatment plan.

Giving one star because I can't give zero. I wish I would have read the reviews about this place before ever wasting my time here. I only have insurance for 3 months and time is up and I haven't even seen a Dr . The first time I called, I told them I needed to schedule an appointment with my PCP. They told me I had to go through intake first and didn't have an available intake appointment until a month later. So I finally have my intake appointment and was informed the intake appointment is only for mental health and I could have scheduled with my PCP a month prior. So they scheduled me a PCP appointment the day of my intake, I showed up and they informed me my appointment was over the phone for a facility in tempe. When my appointment was being scheduled I told them I wanted in office at THIS location and gave them the name of my PCP. I rescheduled for today and showed up to my appointment just for them to tell me they "tried to call to confirm" and since I didn't answer they CANCELLED my appointment. Then WHY did I receive a text a few hours before my appointment asking me to fill out paperwork I had already filled out at my last attempt to see a Dr, which terros botched? I also still have not been scheduled a therapist appointment although I received an email with the therapist they assigned me attached to the email stating she was going to call me asap to schedule something. HERE WE ARE THREE WEEKS LATER AND I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED A CALL. HERE WE ARE THREE MONTHS LATER AND I STILL HAVE NOT SEEN A PCP. DO NOT WASTE YOUR PRECIOUS TIME AND ENERGY ON THIS OFFICE FULL OF INCOMPATANCE.

I've had the worst and most infuriating patient experience ever from this office (and this isn't the first time either). Had a follow up appointment online on Saturday, 4/9/2022. and checked in 10 minutes ahead of time. 10 minutes passed by and still did not receive an email to the webex meeting ID, so I was concerned and called the office to see what's going on.I was told by the receptionist that doctors can sometimes run late for an appointment and that I should receive a call shortly by the MA. 40 minutes passed the appointment and still received no call, so since I was concerned, I called the office again. Receptionist confirmed that I checked in and appointment is still on but transferred me to the MA. The MA denied there was an appointment despite the system and receptionist already confirming it and said she will look into it. Without any warning or follow up, the MA transfer me to the receptionist and that is NOT acceptable! What is wrong with the MA? Instead of actually helping out the patient, she had no answer so she transfers without any warning to escape ownership?? The receptionist stated it may have been a technical issue and suggested to reschedule. As a conclusion, I simply cannot understand how I've experienced a no show on my appointment, despite receiving an email and sms confirmation and checking in. What boggles my mind even more is how unprofessional the staff members are for not following up or taking ownership of their work. If I had never called to follow up, I can't imagine how long I would've waited for an appointment that did not exist. I've wasted my entire morning on this bs. Owner and Office Manager, I hope you're reading this. If you truly care about your patients, please re-train your entire front office staff and instill accountability! This is not acceptable!Update (10/8/2022): Initially gave one star but recent experience has been pleasant. Joyce Kim is an amazing provider and the staff was great. Upgraded to 5 stars.Update (9/7/2024): Had a negative experience because of the disorganized front office staff. Downgraded to 3 stars.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
The safest way to remove addictive substances from your body is done under the care of licensed medical professionals. Known as medically assisted detox, this level of care is typically in an inpatient setting with a team of medical experts that may include doctors, nurses, and mental health clinicians. Medications like Suboxone, methadone, or Vivitrol may be administered to help alleviate withdrawal symptoms.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Arizona is the process of treating individuals who are dependent on a particular addictive drug. Because addiction is complex, this treatment typically includes a variety of interventions that address the many physical and emotional issues involved.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
hiv-aids-program thumbnail image
HIV/AIDS Program
HIV/AIDS programs support disease prevention and management in high-risk individuals in recovery. Individuals who engage in intravenous drug use and other addictive behaviors are at a higher risk of becoming infected with HIV. Rehab centers that specialize in treating this population typically have a high number of nurses, physicians, and psychiatrists on staff who can make sure both their medical and mental health needs are met.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Also known as CBT, cognitive behavioral therapy in Arizona is one of the most common types of psychotherapy. It offers a structured method of counseling that effectively treats substance use disorder and dual diagnosis disorders.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Individual therapy for drug and alcohol addiction includes focused attention on the unique challenges that trigger addictive behavior. During individual therapy sessions, you have a safe space in which to discuss stressors and emotional struggles. Therapy fosters trust and open communication that helps develop personalized strategies to overcome addiction.

The goal of motivational interviewing in Arizona is to enhance your confidence in your ability to make changes in your life. It encourages you to commit to change and plan for the process of making those changes that will allow you to reach your goals.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Residents of Arizona who are experiencing relationship problems may benefit from couples therapy. This form of psychotherapy helps couples express their feelings, resolve conflicts, and increase intimacy and affection.

Family therapy involves sessions where members of the family discuss how addiction has affected them individually and collectively. Therapists can guide families in developing coping strategies that help support their loved one's recovery while also focusing on their own emotional health.

Developing life skills is an important piece of addiction recovery treatment. These skills help you succeed in day to day tasks and live a healthy, independent life. They include communication, critical thinking, problem solving, self control, and resilience.

I had a great group therapist. But there were other aspects of the clinic that make hesitant to recommend them to anyone else. I had some problems with my insurance and no one was able to help me.
