Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Accreditations

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is a branch of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Established in 1992 by congress, SAMHSA's mission is to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness on American's communities.

This place is so unprofessional, don t follow contract rules that were signed exactly like other reviews they pick what parent they prefer. They favoritism them and put everything in their favor without even knowing what danger they re putting the kid in With their lying reports. All the reports are on mother s favor, but they never put on the reports that mother continues to take child s belongings, or Put the child in stressful situations like taking her belonging away bad mouthing my family when clearly on court orders Mom is not to speak of my family. Court order clearly not reviewed. yet the reports are all in her favor. None of them says that mother takes stuff away from the child. We asked for an attendance as mother has missed plenty of visit more than three weeks ago until this moment Berta has said she doesn t have time and will give a copie when she can she sweet when court is and have given mother reports but nothing to father. Berta is rude and lying on her reports even the child has tried to get her attention when mom whispers stuff in her ear and text her stuff with her cell phone that should not be allowed per the contract signed yet They still let mother walk in there with a cell phone in her hand and uses it to text a child things she not allowed to say verbally this is so unprofessional, and because of their lying, reports the child might be sent to an unsafe place now that court is Approach.

I just currently had visit with the lady Bertha watching my son and his dad. She is so unprofessional in every aspect. She definitely wrote a letter that was not accurate. It did not say anything that was accurate although I asked her in the beginning of visit would she be keeping notes of everything that s going on? She said yes, but of course she has no notes no recollection of anything any canceled visits nothing she is so unprofessional and unethical and disrespectful and heartless when it comes to the care of the children and the fact that she think it s OK to not accurately write those letters, addressing them to the court is beyond me, She falsified documents with my case, and judging from the other people on this website, she has been doing this multiple times for a long time. Bertha is being trusted by the state of California they are trusting this lady to give the proper statement with a child custody case and she is falsifying documents and doing things that make absolutely no sense and are unfair to all parties involved. BERTHA should be prosecuted for her actions. It is definitely criminal. And also the place is filthy. I wouldn t raise dogs in there and we re supposed to let our kids come in there when my son left from there last time his sweat pants were so dirty that I couldn t get them clean it also reeks of wet clothes or something that place was horrible. The staff was horrible. The odor was horrible the greetings at the front door was the worst greeting in the history of Hayward, California.

AVOID TERRA FIRMA.The supervisor (Bertha) and staff (Maryam) behave horribly unethical. Example: The Supervisor (Bertha) only sits at a table wedged in the hallway and from ONLY the HALLWAY, Bertha attempts to watch two rooms simultaneously, while eating food and talking to multiple people passing (squeezing) by her table. Bertha never actually goes into any rooms to supervise visits nor listens to what s being said. The other staff members (Maryam and Deborah the cashier) might float in and out of the rooms taking notes with only their cell phones, since (BIG) Bertha is (only) sitting in the hallway eating and talking to other people. Staff members seemed only interested in selling their reports to whichever parent would pay them an extra 150+ dollars for each visit report. Needless to say, their reports are extremely biased and only favor the parent paying them the (most) money = unethical thieves. The visit rooms are deplorable, filthy, bug/ roach invested dirty, as other reviewers stated. Alameda County should shut (BIG) Bertha down. I d check out Alameda County s (online) list of approved professional supervisors before EVER agreeing to Terra Firma and unethical money grabbing (BIG)Bertha, and her band of thieves.

This was my second time around having to deal with Terra Firma. First time, I wasn't ready. I hated that place, I blamed all the carrying employees for my mistakes and wanted constant validation for something I wasn't even trying to do. This Time around I noticed that once my attitude changed and my desire to remain sober became my priority, this place isn't bad after all. It was actually pretty great experience and Ms Bertha actually has feelings and cares about her clients. I will be forever grateful for all the help and tough love I received from Bertha, Miguel and Miriam.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Please please read these reviews before you consider going to this poor excuse for a business that should be helping you rather than trying to hold you back. I was given the wrong information multiple times and when I called to get the correct information, they were extremely rude and short with me. DO NOT waste your time here, go somewhere else. I wish I had taken the time to read the previous reviews.

This organization does not deserve any star rating as the staff on site is u attentive nor do they adhere to their word when speaking to separate parties. Staff does not research court orders solely listen to clients they prefer and bend rules to accommodate such.Be weary of this organization-you may not feel comfortable as soon as you step through the door.
