Medical briefcase icon Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient programs are designed for clients who are medically stable and not at an elevated risk of relapse, including those who have already completed inpatient care. Outpatient programs typically advance clients' established treatment plans, offering continuing addiction counseling and recovery education. Clients who enter outpatient care immediately following detox may also receive medical and mental health assessments and personalized treatment plans. Most outpatient rehabs provide multiple levels of care to align with clients' unique needs.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

aftercare iconAftercare

Rehab aftercare programs offer customized, wraparound support for clients in the maintenance phase of recovery. Many clients enroll in drug rehab immediately after completing intensive inpatient or residential care. Services encompass outpatient treatment but often extend long beyond the completion of a formal recovery program and typically include a variety of medical, mental health, and social service programs. Peer coaching, relapse prevention, 12 step program induction, and related services are commonly available.

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

A sober living home offers a supportive environment where individuals in recovery provide mutual support as they share household responsibilities. Residents participate in 12-step programs and offer accountability for sobriety. To remain in men's or women's sober living, individuals must remain drug and alcohol-free, contribute to chores, attend support group meetings, and help cover expenses to live in the home.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

A drug intervention in Massachusetts provides friends and family the opportunity to share how a person's substance use has caused problems in their lives. The goal of the intervention is to encourage the person to get the treatment they need. Most rehab facilities offer intervention services that can help families prepare for the intervention and facilitate entry into treatment if the person agrees to get help.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

Due to various health issues that substance abuse causes, 24-hour clinical care in Massachusetts is often a necessary part of treatment. Individuals may be suffering from infections, illness, or organ damage. Having 24-hour care available ensures that these physical problems are treated along with the psychological effects of addiction. Once individuals complete detox and are medically stable, this intensive level of supervision ends, and the next phase of treatment can begin.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Medically supervised detox is the process of removing addictive substances from your body and managing the withdrawal symptoms in a medically supervised environment. Typically, this is the first step in the recovery process and lasts an average of 5-7 days, though the length can vary depending on your individual needs. Once your system is cleared of alcohol and drugs, you'll likely transition to an inpatient treatment program for the next phase of your recovery.

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

Addiction is a highly complex problem, and drug rehab in Massachusetts is often necessary to address it. These programs treat physical, mental, and relational issues that are involved. Treatment empowers individuals to manage these issues without the use of drugs.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

substance-abuse iconSubstance Abuse

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Hand holding medical sign icon Clinical Services

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

life-skills iconLife Skills

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

recreational-therapy iconRecreational Therapy

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

medical-detox iconExperiential Therapy

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Adult and Teen Challenge Massachusetts changed my life forever. I arrived at this place emotionally bankrupt and tired of fighting my addiction. Here, I found hope, love, and restoration. Through God's guidance and the support of this program, I was given a new future. Today, I have a beautiful family and well-rounded health spiritual, emotional, and mental. I am now a mental health therapist and the founder of an agency that provides mental health and addiction services. If you are looking for a place where your experience goes beyond achieving sobriety and leads to profound transformation, Teen Challenge New England is the right place for you.

Horrible place of excuses. I came in as a recovery specialist for overnights and was given excuses why I can't have the hours or the shift I applied for. Then when discussing the complaint letters the residents wrote about the dirty conditions I was told the day shifts do clean..yet when I did come in for my only shift at night there were nothing but spider webs, coffee stains on the walls and what looked like old dried spit that dried up and left more stains on the wall attributing to the bugs flying around..the plates of food I found stashed away....and yet the day shift was doing their job and unfortunately the establishment can't make adjustments to accommodate my needs for giving me the shift I applied for even tho I'm the guy who cleaned up all this mysterious trash the residents showed me that we're not be taken care of ..other wise I'd have nothing to be disappointed about.

Brockton teen challenge. 3 minute showers (timed w/a stopwatch in a 6 man shower stall. They only allowed us a few squares of TP at a time. My Counselor stood next to the phone every time I called my family. No swearing, joking, or talking about anything not Christ related. No tv, including knowing what the current news is saying. We were completely isolated from the outside world. The compound was heated by wood that we had to cut everyday the wood pile they called it. Any infraction would lead to extra woodpile duty in 3 hour increments. All the clothing donations were handled by me, to organize for the blessings closet - after the directors picked through everything and kept what they wanted. This program should be investigated- looking back, prison would have been fair more tolerable. This place is a business- that makes a lot of tax free money off its residents. Very Shady Place- Stay Away.

I have been involved with Adult and Teen Challenge for several years and have personally witnessed their programs, meet with their clients and the positive results they have achieved by providing a new life for otherwise troubled people, hope, skills and a real sense of self value. It is remarkable to meet them as each one I have met and spoken to is full of optimism and has express how HAPPY and LUCKY they were to be there. I personally have a friend whose son was a participant, the results of TC program truly changed his life and that of his family.

Not enough stars to rate my experience. In 2012 I walked through the doors of teen challenge and that day forever changed my life. I stood the course and graduated 15 months later. Looking back it was the time that I was there that was the best, this is where I established the foundation that my life is built on today. I don t know where I would be today if it wasn t for my experience at teen challenge. It was in this program that I came to know the Lord and that is what has kept me since then. Teen challenge is a Great vessel and the people you will meet there will be a part of your story forever. When I walkedThrough those doors I knew I was where I was suppose to be. I have strong real relationships to this day that were formed in teen challenge I have seen more lives radically changed & transformed and counting. If anyone is reading this and is looking for a new life and freedom from Whatever is holding you back and is ready this is the place that you (Too) will find that. You re best is yet to come..

Teen Challenge is a WONDERFUL place for men and women to get set free from Drugs & Alcohol. Also these men and women begin a new chapter in their life and they find a new meaning in life. They begin to develop a personal relationship with a man that went to a cross to die for their sins and to set them free from all the bondage and junk in their lives. I have established many friendships with the people that have attended Teen Challenge and just to see what the Lord has done in their lives is just AMAZING! This program helps men and women get to the root of the problem. And trust me when men and women attend this program, lives are changed and transformed for the BETTER!
