About Syracuse Recovery Services

Syracuse Recovery Services is an outpatient treatment center in Syracuse, New York. They offer personalized care and expert backed approaches to give you a supportive environment for recovery. They welcome adults battling addiction and offer programs in English and Spanish.

With outpatient treatment, you can live at home while getting the care you need. Their program provides multiple therapeutic interventions, including group and individual counseling, peer support, medication assisted treatment and specialty groups. Additionally, you can access DWI evaluations and a smoking cessation program.

The most standout feature I noticed is their specialty groups. They tailor their Moral Reconation Therapy session to people with addiction and criminal behaviors. You’ll learn to make healthy decisions, increase self awareness and build accountability.

They also have a Seeking Safety group. You’ll focus on addressing the impact of trauma and addiction. This approach can help you remain present in triggering situations and build healthy relationships.

Another key element is their peer support services. Peer support specialists have lived experiences in recovery blended with professional training. You’ll have access to someone who can resonate with your experiences and offer guidance along your journey.

book iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

prescription iconDrug Addiction

When you choose drug rehab in New York, you'll participate in a variety of treatments that are designed to help you live a drug-free lifestyle. Common methods of treatment include group, individual, and family counseling, medication management, nutrition, exercise, and management of co-occurring mental health disorders.

head-side-medical iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

prescription-bottle-pill iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

file-medical iconSubstance Abuse

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

car-building iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Individual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

My husband was forced into an early recovery program even though he was clean for over a year and was on MAT. They discharged him without telling him, and without a bridge script for his medication.

Treatment "recommendations" (mandates) are excessive for first time offenders with no prior history of problems with substance abuse. They will select indicators of problem areas regardless of individual circumstances, with shoddy reasoning for such areas. If you contest their views in any way, you will be accused if bullying and being defensive, and your input receives ZERO consideration. If you have been involved in the legal system, you WILL be diagnosed with a problem, and their "non intensive" counseling is 4x per week for 16-20 weeks. During that time, they will watch you provide a urine sample, require abstinence of ALL non prescribed substances, even if you have not received probation, which is highly invasive. IMO, numbers are their concern as opposed to what is right for an individual.
