It is quite clear that they are not interested in helping the patient get better, they offer bread crumbs to get you to return. I asked several times for specific treatment and was given several excuses. Eventually I just went to another facility. If you are interested in group therapy they offer DBT classes. This is not my choice for individual therapy.

Avoid this place at all costs. This place is a dumpster fire and needs to be shut down and investigated. The people are extremely incompetent and offensive. They are literally against you. These are people that should be nowhere near patients. I don t understand how they are still in business. This place is a money grab and nothing more. Do yourself a favor and stay far away. You ll regret ever setting foot in this place. They are literally abusers. There is a special place in hell for these people.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Ohio provides comprehensive treatment to address the physical and psychological needs of those struggling with substance use disorders. This may involve inpatient and/or outpatient care.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

EMDR is a therapeutic modality originally developed to help process trauma. In an EMDR session, a patient is prompted to undergo eye movements that mimic those of REM sleep. This is accomplished by watching a therapist's finger move back and forth across, or following a bar of light. The goal is repetitive sets of eye movements that help the brain reprocess memory, which can significantly reduce the intensity of remembered traumatic incidents. Associated memories can heal simultaneously, leaving patients significantly calmer, more stable, and more emotionally relaxed.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I ll start by saying Sarah is amazing this review is a complaint on Syntero as a whole. First, their billing department never gets back with you. It s like you just have to pick a random day and time to call and hope someone answers. They ve sent me incorrect statements before as well. Secondly, I understand you sign a paper about missing appointments, however night shift sometimes makes it hard for me to keep appts. So I got discharged from services. Which makes me feel in my opinion that my mental health doesn t matter because I missed appointments. But what about the people who are depressed and miss appointments do they just get tossed aside as well. I could understand if someone made three appointments and missed three appointments in the row but if they re spread out, why does it matter so much? Maybe that also is an issue on my part but I just think that You shouldn t get tossed aside for missing some appointments.

Response from the owner4 months ago
Hi April. We are sorry to read of your dissatisfaction with Syntero. We agree that Sarah is amazing and I hope you have found some closure with your billing issues. While we do not want to turn anyone away from receiving support, our cancellation policy is in place so we can serve those who need support when they need it most. Our policy allows cancellations with 24-hour advance notice, which gives us time to open the appointment up to others who need support. Each time there is a late cancellation or a no-show, that is one more person we cannot serve, so when there are multiple cancellations, we owe it to our other clients to make space for them when they need support. Because of HIPAA compliance, we cannot address any personal concerns publicly, but if you feel you were treated unfairly, we would like to hear from you. Please call our office at 614-889-5722 or send a message to info@syntero.org so we may address your concerns. Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We wish you the best.

Contacted them about getting connected with a therapist and was told verbatim they "do not have any openings and do not know when they will." I asked about a waitlist and was told they don't keep one.Syntero received over 1.8 million dollars for a PPP loan that was forgiven. They haven't scaled back their advertising at all, yet they have no actual mental health services to offer.

Response from the owner1 year ago
Sarah, you are correct. Syntero received a Payroll Protection Loan during the midst of the pandemic. These funds were utilized appropriately for payroll and employee benefits during a time of an unprecedented pandemic that impacted all aspects of our industry. The pandemic has had a devastating impact on our workforce. We were very grateful to be a recipient of the one-time, restricted PPP funds. This workforce shortage has been very disruptive and has created an environment where we cannot offer the volume of service capacity that we would like to. All of our educational posts on social media or other platforms are either marketing programming that is accessible to targeted populations, purely educational in nature, or we are recruiting much needed professionals that are crucial to meet the needs of people like you. We are truly sorry that you had a negative experience with our agency. We are doing everything we can to recruit and retain clinical professionals who can meet the growing needs of the communities that we serve. We strive to continually serve as many people as we can with the limited resources that we have available to us. We share your frustration.

Syntero has the friendliest staff and are so willing to go above and beyond to help their patients. Mental health help is definitely needed and such a shortage of great healthcare providers. We have been coming here for almost 6 months and would highly recommend it to others. Not all problems can be easily resolved or cured with medication but the combination of therapy and a patients efforts can lead to success. It take two people to work together and communicate.

Was with this company 2 times. First time was pre covid and I got alot of help until me myself stopped engaging as much with my social worker. Second time I really wanted help. It was as if they wouldn't help unless I got on medication and saw a psychiatrist even though I just wanted therapy. After my social worker quit and moved on my case was moved but I didn't get anyone to reach out. Then I finally reached out when I started to get bad again . I had a meeting after getting connected with a third social worker. Was supposed to get into therapy and counseling but was never contacted. Not once after the meeting. Even though she says she checks in weekly. Maybe I seemed fine so she didn't take me as a priority. I'm not sure. But overall would not recommend this company as my social worker quit and it seemed as no one after cared or maybe the work load was too much. Either way, I need help and took the time to get it but was never given the same. It's already hard to reach out when you have a problem. I just thought I could start to get on the right track. Seems to be a high turn over rate and not alot of attention or effort given to connect to us the people who need help. It's just sad when someone who finally reaches out for help gets shafted or pushed aside like they mean nothing. I'll get the help I need and so will you. Maybe just not with this company.
