I switched my counseling from community health center to sunrise because I just couldn't help but feel like another number with CHC my counselor there was pretty generic and sometimes It seemed like she wasn't even paying attention to what I was saying during our sessions and I was only able to meet with her once a month when I switched to sunrise it was like night and day from the begining I was giving a assessment to see who would be a good fit for me and my counselor lan has been the best she is very involved in helping me through my problems and has even helped me to understand important paperwork and reached out to other organizations that I'm apart of on my behalf she is very flexible with scheduling and is able to meet with me every week weather it's in her office on the phone or a online video session and I'm very thankful to have her in my life

If you have severe PTSD, do not go here. Initially, I was excited to get an assessment so quickly since pretty much nowhere takes my insurance and appointments are very far out these days. The front desk people seemed nice, catered to my 2-year-old and gave her snacks and toys. They informed me that they are not prescribing any medications at this time, which I am totally fine with since I have never agreed with medications. When the actual assessment came, the woman that conducted it did not have any of my paperwork so basically she only knew my name. She came into my appointment 20 minutes late. Throughout the appointment she would repeat things back to me completely incorrect and said my previous diagnosis of BPD was incorrect and that I am bipolar (she doesn t even know me this is the first time we are speaking. And BPD is known to be falsely diagnosed as Bipolar). I told her that I don t like medications and she legitimately said well then I don t think therapy will work for you because you will get triggered and the medications will help with that. I know I will get triggered by therapy, I am here to unpack it, face it, and cope with it. I don t need medications to dumb me down. She insinuated that I am unfit to care for my daughter because I get afraid to go out for a couple days and stay in when I m too triggered. Her exact words were oh so if your daughter gets hurt then you won t take her to the hospital? I also stated that I have a tough time getting out of bed some days so my daughter and I cuddle and watch movies and she said that my daughter will get hurt without my knowledge because I m sleeping all day. I never said I was asleep, just said I had trouble getting out of bed. My daughter asked me to help her with a phone game for probably 20 seconds of my time and the woman said is this not a good time for you, do you need to do this a different day? Towards the end of the appointment she stopped listening to me talk and started looking over her monitor for her next patient (she literally stated she was looking for her next patient) she stated that I had so much to unpack that I needed to schedule a second appointment to finish the assessment. I scheduled it and thought maybe she is having an off day. The day came for the 2nd appointment and they called me and canceled it in a voicemail. I returned the call and informed them of everything that happened at the previous appointment and they told me the lady that did my assessment told them that my daughter interrupted the entire appointment, they then informed me that if my daughter interrupts at all in the next appointment then they can not provide care for me and will need to end the relationship. It s just so funny because I informed them from the very beginning that I was fragile and in the middle of a mental struggle. They still treated me this way and then treated my daughter like her existence is a problem. She is two years old and is the sweetest, smartest child I have ever met. How dare you. I am a single mother trying to find mental health help because I was shot at in the woods, strangled, hit with the blunt end of an axe, sexually assaulted, punched in the face, etc and this establishment just treated me like unimportant trash on the side of the highway. What a horrible experience.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

When first being processed was told there was no one here that could suit my vast mental health disagnosis needs. Afterward they found me a person whom hadn't even graduated. This person mentioned feeling uncomfortable working with me because I would put walls up, I believed that was the challenging aspect of therapy, so I attempted to work on it. This person stated I was being less open even more. I expresssed to rachel she wasn't challenging me enough to want to open up. I said this in the most polite way possible, their response made me burst into tears and claimed we weren't the right fit. After this they reconvinced me that we could work through this, and she was wrong. The following week shr dropped me from her case load anyway and mentioned I would have the option netween two people, one a woman my age another a man much older. As a victim of sexual assault of a man, i prefer working with a women. I was contacted by this man and though hesitant i felt giving him an opportunity was neccesary. He mentioned working with LGBTQ and I immediately was triggered by past traumas and told him this wouldnt work. He suggested i reach out to the supervisor Amanda. Uppn speaking to Amanda about being sexually assaulted and I wouldnt work with a man I presume was gay, which to be honest km not sure if he is. She stated I made her feel uncomfortable. Telling her about my needs and triggers made the supervisor of this building uncomfortable. I hung up on her. The following day I considered the possibility of me being the issue until she called me, fuethering my belief she was in the wrong. I sternly and respectfully asked my case to be closed. This company is very much PC over helping their clients, and favor their clinicians well being over anything else. I reason with this but their should be a line drawn for your patients. I strongly urge anyone considering going here to consider alternatives. This is also regarding some very clear HIPPA violations noticed in my visits; doing an interview the walls are so thin you can hear people speak on the other sides. I could literally hear another patient stating their social security number through the wall. white noise machines were never introduced in this room until I mentioned it. After bringing this to the attention of the staff they stated this has been a ongoing issue and me bringing it up would be more useful than them doing so.

Horrible place! Let's start with that!!! Front desk people are very unprofessional. If you ask a question they start raising their voice, telling you what to do and won't even let you explain what's in your mind AND they time you get to talk, they just tell you the same thing over and over again.I need to see the physiatrist to refill my medication but they don't even care about that. They just want me to meet with the counselor 4 times before even talking to the doctor (oh and they scheduled me a visit ONCE A MONTH)so no medicationa until then...if you need those medication how else can you get it if you can't talk to the doctor!! No help whatsoever
