outpatient iconOutpatient

Clients enrolled in an outpatient rehab program typically engage in multiple therapeutic sessions each week, but reside in their own homes and communities while receiving care. Outpatient treatment typically involves extensive addiction counseling, including family and group therapy. Most programs also emphasize recovery-focused life skills training and medical, mental health, and social support services to promote clients' sustained sobriety. Evening, night, weekend, and virtual services are widely available to accommodate the schedules of working professionals, students, and caregivers.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. Treatment at Sundown is abstinence based and centered around the fundamentals of the 12 steps. Each graduating patient leaves treatment with the name and number of an active twelve-step member, and a Sundown M Ranch graduate, who is willing to connect you with your local twelve-step community.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

With a partial hospitalization program (PHP), individuals can receive intensive rehab with the ability to return home each day. PHP treatment is often an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or a step-down option. PHP treatment typically requires at least 20 hours per week for approximately 90 days. Common components of PHP treatment plans include relapse prevention, medication management, and behavioral therapy services. Insurance coverage for PHP treatment is typically available, though coverage specifics depend on your insurance provider.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Medical detox is often the first step in addiction recovery and involves ridding the body of drugs and/or alcohol in a supervised inpatient setting. If you've become physically dependent on substances like alcohol, benzodiazepines (like Xanax), or opioids, quitting abruptly may cause uncomfortable or even dangerous side effects. In medically assisted detox, a team of medical professionals will help manage any potential withdrawal symptoms with the aim of keeping you as safe and comfortable as possible.

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

Effective drug rehab in Washington integrates care for the whole person, offering comprehensive solutions to addiction. Treatment methods address mental, physical, and relational aspects of substance abuse.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

substance-abuse iconSubstance Abuse

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Hand holding medical sign icon Clinical Services

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

The goal of trauma therapy is to help you heal from the aftereffects of a traumatic experience. Your therapist will provide you with a safe and supportive space to process these trauma memories and develop better coping strategies that enhance your emotional resilience.

family iconFamily Therapy

Drug and alcohol addiction is a disease that affects the whole family. Sundown M Ranch provides a 3 day family program. Family members stay on campus in our family annex and have a schedule that is specific to the family program. This is a very important part of the treatment process and highly recommended for all patients that come to treatment.

desert iconMotivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

There are mold and fungus in their bathrooms. I can't even. This place needs to be held accountable for all the things they do wrong. This place is all about being nice in the outside, but not about being right on their way of handling cases as delicate as mine.

I rarely write reviews-this the 3rd I've wrote in my life. I need to thank Barb N. who was my daughters counselor. Somehow Barb reached my daughter,. Barb was able to break down my daughters wall of defense. My daughter is or was a introvert. Which is why she was a closet drinker, I never saw her drink. My daughter was literally killing herself with alcohol. She had a seizure, where she just about bit her tongue off and other critical health problems, where she had to go to emergency, all from alcohol. She drank from a half gallon of hard alcohol a day or more if she had it. She has been drinking like this for years. Barb said or did whatever my daughter needed to hear, because after the 6th day she was there, she called me. I started to hear my daughter again, my daughter before the alcoholic. Each call, after that first call -I recognized the daughter I have missed so much -she was on her way back to us. She has been gone for so long. I believe God put Barb doing the job she does, because it's a miracle she got through to my kid. My whole family thanks you Barb...you have saved my daughters life! Thank you Sundown too

If I could post negative stars I absolutely would. I do not know how anyone has not looked into the workings of this facility. This place is a bullies dream job. They have the mentality of wanting to break you like a horse for lack of a better term; I have never seen so many people broken down by the words of people who are supposed to counsel you.I have attended this facility, and I am still friends with others I attended with: we are all on decent paths but with absolute no help to this establishment.I witnessed people shooting up in the bathrooms nearly daily. It s a total joke of a sober environment.I was truly hoping for a dual diagnosis experience with caring staff to provide tools and even medication to aide in my recovery; but that absolutely does not exist here.My saving grace I received out of this experience was the access to an indoor track so I could walk and run, and the beautiful raven nest I got to see on the hill. My only other happiness was thinking of where that train was going and if I could move fast enough to hop on it without getting tracked down by staff. They claimed I wouldn t amount to anything, I had zero integrity or compassion, that I was unable to control my own life and that I needed to move to a halfway house when I lived and owned a business 7+ hours away to uproot a business and shut it down is an absurd request. I work with the public and to have someone who I met day one, to claim I have zero compassion or integrity when it is much a part of my job was probably one of the worst things I could have heard, especially while being so vulnerable and expecting counseling instead of being broken down. There needs to be an assessment of this place and every single one of their staff needs to start out with a 30 day experience/evaluation and see if they would take this job.

Very unorganized and unprofessional staff! One of the guys in treatment there during a using while pregnant lecture stated I hate kids. When I hear them cry I want to kill them , then stated if I had my own kid I would shake it to death . So not only I, but others also told the guy that s messed up and that you are a POS. They ended up kicking myself and a few others out for it and let him stay. Just says a lot about who is running the facility. All around very very unprofessional.

I have been trying to get help since Friday. I never seem to be able to talk to anybody. I finally talked to somebody on Saturday. Gave them my insurance information. Call back on Monday saying oh we don't have your second insurance. I gave it to you? Why didn't you verify it? But of course now we're playing phone tag and Tuesday evening. I called them today Left a message around noon. No response. I emailed them. No response. It's like they don't want to help people. I feel like I'm being blown off. Cuz this is only my life that we're talking about here. It looks like I'm going to find a different rehab facility. And based on your Google rating.... I'm glad I'm not coming here.

This was a good place for my daughter and she was very successful for a couple of years after the first time she went there. Unfortunately, she relapsed after a couple of years and the 2nd time when she went she ended up leaving with someone without completing treatment. It was poor judgement on her part for sure. She has wanted to go back again, however they will not extend a second chance at all. There is no grace if you leave with someone for another chance even after a year or two. I believe they should assess this policy further and re-evaluate if someone has changed. I would still recommend this place to a loved one who is serious about recovery.

They kicked my kid out after 18 days. On day 16, I asked them if they were giving her the lithium prescribed to her, nope, apparently their doctor decided she didn't need it. They knew about her dual diagnosis and I really think they kicked her out to save their own skin. They were rude and provided nothing except a bill. Don't send your kid here.
