About Summit Pointe

Summit Pointe is drug and alcohol rehab in Battle Creek, Michigan. They have rehab and behavioral health services for adults and kids as a way to help build stronger families in the Battle Creek area.

This treatment center has outpatient care meaning you live at home and come to therapy at the rehab. Your therapy is entirely catered to you and what you need. In fact, this outpatient rehab doesn’t just treat addiction. They also treat other mental health conditions. If you’re one of the many people with a dual diagnosis, they can help you on both fronts.

What strikes me most about Summit Pointe is that they understand how to fit treatment into your life. They have a convenient scheduling system so you can get your treatment at times that work for you. But even beyond this, they have a 24 hour crisis center and hotline. They understand the realities of addiction and mental health and that you can’t control when a crisis will arise. They’re always there to help and this gives peace of mind to clients and non clients alike.

I noticed that many former clients or prospective clients have had trouble getting paired with a provider. More recent clients have been happier with their experiences though so this rehab may be making improvements to their processes.

Another unique feature of Summit Pointe is their special programs. Take their VA Navigator program, for example. It can be tough for veterans and military members to get the services they’re entitled to. But the VA Navigator program will help you understand your benefits and connect you with the right resources to get the recovery care you need. Whether you’re a veteran or not there’s help to be found at this rehab.

Do yourself a huge favor and never come here. These doctors are so ignorant especially dr gandy. All they do is rip you off of medication that you've been stable on for decades causing severe stress and more complications. This place needs to be shut down and the doctors licenses need to be taken. I would give zero stars but unfortunately I can't.

Genuinely the worst clinics I ve seen. They overmedicate you like you re a Guinea pig and genuinely do not care about their patients. I was put on highly addictive medication that has given me irreversible side effects and any time I bring it up I m given a condescending response. One of their providers refuses to believe that the medication they ve prescribed is causing weight gain and was extremely rude when confronted about it with concrete evidence. My most recent experience was yesterday and her behavior was unprofessional and insulting. It felt like she was reading off of a cue card and was very disrespectful and disengaged throughout the entire conversation. She was yawning and rolling her eyes as if I was inconveniencing her with my mental illness that she s paid to treat. When I asked about potential autism testing, she blatantly told me that she isn t going to look into it and to do it myself. She kept her face in her laptop and genuinely did not listen to a single word I said.Summit pointe has a lot to be desired and they should be ashamed of themselves for their lack of respect for patients. All I can say is if you can t have any empathy or compassion for the patients in your care then you have no right to work in this field.

If I could give no stars I would. This place is careless with their internal handling of customer care. They are happy to get you in to get that money from your insurance but lack to provide structurally organized continuous care. This has happened 3 times to my family, 3 different cases and they fail to do their part then close your case and then tell you you have to start all over. Wow real great for people struggling with mental health just keep them sick and give them false hope . This place is the biggest joke to the mental health care system I've never experienced. Please do not think I am referring to the therapists or the psychiatrists here, I'm only talking about how their facility is ran. I would actually recommend a few of their doctors if you could get their services through a different practice not Summit Pointe.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

I have to believe these reviews to be accurate my daughter Adriona Chidester works here as a case manager and she thinks her clients pain is funny. I've had to get on her numerous times for telling me I don't care for a client has a 11 cats or how bad their house smells. She told me one client called her because he had to it down there and she thought that was absolutely hilarious she cracked up telling me I found it to be sick to my stomach considering I her father suffer from mental health and she's left me for dead. Because I got on her about being a poor case manager and she needs to be at Buffalo wild wings where she left she has disowned me so I only feel obligated to leave a bold honest review about the worst possible case manager for any mental health Adriona Chidester needs a case manager herself because she's suffering more than her clients are

Your forced healthcare was personalized by our money mongols and doomsday fetishizers, thanks for "choosing" to be our "customer". Seriously though, if you have Jim Johnson as a care coordinator or whatever, your best bet would be to leave the state. Also, how do I get my records? They certainly don't make it easy like most other places. This establishment is the devil's idea of fair.ETA: Keep your guy's eyes out for a lawsuit, btw. you're one of five or six parties I'm going to come after. Good Luck and lawyer up! You're going to need it! You're gonna get it!!!!tip: you may have messed with and severely misdiagnosed a savant hyperthymesiac (I even told you!! I remember!) Jim Johnson may be tried for war crimes. I want him to be reviewed, I can't be the only one! What are the chances? obviously this is delusion and you shouldn't prepare. someone who would have this condition certainly wouldn't figure it out or that he has been psychologically tortured. Glad you guys misunderstood me because the way I was treated would have ended my life....I tell you guys something like this, and Jim goes "nope! you're a psychopath!" does anyone else have the intellect to see how this might spiral into a depression that could become psychotic depending on the circumstances for them to then misdiagnose you eventhough you beg and beg and beg for a reevaluation. I fear a reevaluation wouldn't have gone well either, this world is chalk full of god awful, fear mongering, money laundering, stigma!!!! Summit Pointe included!!!

Their counseling/therapist staff was great but the staff involved in their scheduling and prescription medications are uncoordinated and just unprofessional.I would not recommend relying on them at all if you have any other option available to you.

I would not recommend going to this place to seek therapy or anyone compassionate that truly cares. I left feeling 10 times worse than I did going in as a therapist reads off the screen and types at the same time. There s no sense of compassion no sympathy no nothing almost as if you should feel wrong for feeling negative, I could tell she wanted me out of that room. She wanted to Google my symptoms and then tell me to take a random medication after talking to me for 10 minutes knowing nothing about me at all. I could tell she was a rookie in this field. I knew right then when she dismissed me, I wasn t coming back people like this is why people kill themselves they want someone to really hear them not just hear them if you understand what I m saying and they don t care if you wanna kill yourself and feed you medication so they don t have to deal with you. Those are the type of people were dealing with her. They genuinely don t want you to get help.

I have been a patient for over 6 years and I'm still Homeless. I can't get the care that I'm approved for to actually get the providers to help. I don't know if anyone that needs mental health care should visit due to lack of pretty much everything expect Funding and paper work. you want to do some paper work go to summit point and they will charge your insurance 20,000 a year and make things very difficult in yiur daily.
