About Suburban Health Clinic

Suburban Health Clinic provides addiction treatment and mental health services for adults in Union, New Jersey. They provide medication assisted treatment, or MAT, and different levels of outpatient care.

Their MAT program is designed to help those who struggle with opioid addiction manage cravings and keep the risk of relapse low during treatment. This clinic uses buprenorphine, methadone, and Vivitrol. MAT clients attend outpatient treatment to help them build a foundation of lifetime recovery. The long term goal is that they will taper off the medication support once they’ve established a substance free life.

While MAT is one of their main treatment options, it isn’t the only one. Clients will work with their doctors to come up with a custom treatment plan made just for them. Some of the outpatient services they may participate in include educational courses on anger management, self esteem, and grief. There are also counseling sessions and case management. Clients with both mental health and addiction concerns can get dual diagnosis treatment and medication management.

Past clients speak very highly of their experience at the facility. They say you get a lot of one on one time with your team and they make you feel like a person, not just a number. Several clients said the facility saved their lives.

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

Drug rehab in New Jersey is the process of addressing the complex issues involved with addiction. Challenges are identified and addressed through individual and group counseling. Participants learn how to manage these issues without the use of substances.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

substance-abuse iconSubstance Abuse

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

During individual therapy for drug addiction, patients receive a customized and tailored approach to understanding their unique circumstances and providing them with targeted interventions. These include coping skills, relapse prevention plans, and developing resilience, all of which are essential for long term recovery.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Suburban is the best clinic there is! They have very knowledgeable staff and you get a lot of one on one time with your counselor, the director, the nurses really whoever you want or need to see which is great. They make you feel like you are a human being and not just a number like the other clinics out there. And most importantly they are always on a positive vibe as far as your recovery and you'll never get that feeling there that they just don't care. They are very welcoming as well.....I would definitely recommend as I always do!

My experience there from 0 to 10 I give a 10 because what they're doing there is trying to save your life and to brings you back to act and behave like a normal person. So the bottom line is yes is a good program at the same time is all in your hands either you wanna be help or you don't take work the program but don't play the plyers.
