About Stairways Outpatient Clinic

Step One Halfway House in Phoenix, Arizona, offers drug free residential recovery to men with drinking or drug misuse addictions. They may service homeless, indigent, and criminal justice experienced adult males. However, an affordable monthly fee for long term stays is required, and financial assistance is available.

Men who have gotten a street education and relate to a lifetime of risk and gritty environs may find fellow travelers on a similar road to breaking use habits and cravings. Simplified semi private living matched with drug testing ensures the independent, no-nonsense client experience with extra accountability to keep them sober, or face eviction.

While there, you may be expected to enroll in various traditional and well known meetings geared towards alcohol use disorders. These programs may involve recognition of or a belief in the spiritual realm, so keep that in mind.

One person said they’d made leaps and bounds in their personal growth and development, likening the program to an accelerated recovery option. One person said they came in with only the clothes on their back, but left a complete person. This program appears to really work for guys who are looking to cut through the formal or institutional pomp and circumstance.

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

Drug rehab in Arizona is the process of treating individuals who are dependent on a particular addictive drug. Because addiction is complex, this treatment typically includes a variety of interventions that address the many physical and emotional issues involved.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

substance-abuse iconSubstance Abuse

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

medical-detox iconExperiential Therapy

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

life-skills iconLife Skills

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

They are not worried about your recovery, it's all about money. The owner just wants to make money off the property he rents.

Worst halfway house possible in Arizona. So surprising that this place is even a thing. A complete waste of space and ANY hard working man s time. ADDICT OR NOT, pick any other place besides step one. I wasted the first 3 months home from prison at this place working hard labor jobs and only making $8.00 a day. They will take advantage of you there, work you till you can t anymore and pay you TERRIBLY. My life only went down hill at step one AND has only gotten SO MUCH BRIGHTER since my exit! Say no to drugs and say no to step one as well! BLESSINGS!!

My name is Jacob and I've been a struggling alcoholic and addict for 12 years. I've experienced homelessness and mental health problems that have set me back in life. I came to Step One 3 months ago and over the past 90 days I became sober and my mental health has become a lot more manageable. I've also been given the opportunity to find housing and a job while practicing my sobriety. I am extremely grateful for Step One program. The staff was awesome and so were the clients that helped me along the way. Thank you to everybody involved with my journey here at Step One. For anybody struggling with addiction, mental health, homelessness and other problems I strongly suggest Step One for help.

They say I was never a client, my phone was stolen there, I almost got into a fight over there I don't remember names, they put in a restaurant called Tonto's, I was a dish washer until things got real racist, I had to sleep on the couch that had bedbug near the smoking pit in the front room because the people was trying to steal my money, (I got touch) that's all I'ma say about that, I'm not even in Arizona anymore so f y'all, I can put this place on blast if I wanted to don't play with me, every morning there a meeting, and you have to go to other meetings as well, this place is so hostile you can feel it in the air, they'll go through your things when your not looking, oh my God there's so many things I can say that I saw and experience there, I came there for help and they stole my phone, and my mom was the only person I can call, I pleaded I asked for help I cried in front of grown men for my phone just because I wasn't from that area, this place is so f'n sketchy, but shyt what did I expect it's Arizona Phoenix Arizona, there's not one moment I ever felt safe there, CBI sent me there and the lady had high hopes for me there so when I came back to CBI look, if your reading this whether you're there or not or thinking of being there just know to watch your back

Good day everyone, my name is Charles Cleveland and I'm a grateful recovering alcoholic. First of all I want thank my heavenly Father for allowing me to compose this message to those who are in recovery and those who are still suffering from this addiction. My story goes like this, I came to step one not knowing if I would make it through this program or not, but I completed the 90 days and still here with my brother's today.I had a misconception about recovery centers but step one showed me that All that you hear and see is not what step one is about, it's about getting your life back on track and doing something positive with your life.I've experienced things while I have been here in step one that I would have never experienced if I was still an addict.Step one is the truth and the staff here is amazing, professional and caring about our well being when we enter these gate and every day after that.So to sum it up in short form come to step one if you're serious about recovery it works if you work it, I did and I feel blessed and happy to be in this brotherhood so come join we're waiting for you to step one foot into the gates of recoveryThanks for your time and GodBless youCharles cleveland
