book iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

prescription iconDrug Addiction

When you choose drug rehab in New York, you'll participate in a variety of treatments that are designed to help you live a drug-free lifestyle. Common methods of treatment include group, individual, and family counseling, medication management, nutrition, exercise, and management of co-occurring mental health disorders.

prescription-bottle-pill iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

file-medical iconSubstance Abuse

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

car-building iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

clipboard-medical iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Go to another program if youre intention is to get your life back. The new director has run this program into the ground. You will be emotionally blackmailed & retaliated on if you so much as mention calling Oasas. Call oasas if you are not mandated. Find out your real rights.

This place literally, after all other things failed to save my life from addiction, including rehabs and many other things was finally the place I was able to obtain a normal life. I give them a lot of credit toward me being at a good place in my life, a lot of it was me being ready to get clean, but this place has done a lot to make my life more manageable and as close to normal as possible. I am now finally feeling healthy and free of illicit substances for the more than half a decade I have been here. The nurses always are helpful, and my counselor is always there for me if I need someone to talk to about serious things. I can go on and on, but thank you to Lisa who is gone now, Damaris who is my new counselor, and the nursing staff especially Jenn and Yvette. Dr. Hashmi is also always sympathetic to me and sees things for what they are and has helped me so much in these years since Ive known him. (EDIT) This was a 5 star review originally, and I still respect all the same people Ive mentioned above, but ever since Northwell Health took over this clinic from SIU Hospital it has just totally become a logistics nightmare, I often get to work late now over annoying new policies that are in place, Dr. Hashmi is in the process of being removed as the prescribing doctor, and more changes to come that do not look like theyre going to make my anxiety any lower than the high state it now ALWAYS is in every time I have to come here, I hate to have to flip my opinion on this place, but you can really see the influence of the new administration changing rules just to make like theyre doing something worth getting paid for, when this place already operated smooth before it was taken over by NORTHWELL. More terrible decisions coming down the pipeline as well as per conversations with staff members. Id avoid this place at the moment, it did save my life, but now it is unfairly keeping me from getting the amount of pickups I should have by now based on a prescription Ive been on for years upon years, and tbh the less Id have to come here with the new administration the better at this point, because now this place stresses me out under the new regime. Still love to all the people Ive mentioned above, but whoever is running the show is a nightmare and is shaking things up just to make like theyre making changes for the better to earn a paycheck for changing things that really is just making it harder for addicts/recovering addicts who are already having a tough go at life. Please leave things alone and take care of your patients who put in the work for years and years, just to always get turned down for pickups beyond a week at a time, despite my impeccable recovery, following of every rule, and honestly there is no reason at this point I should be coming here more than once a month. Sorry this place really went into the toilet after the aggressive takeover by Northwell Health. Ill update as and when needed.

edit: This was written when the director was a good human being. As of now the director has implemented the most counter productive policies Ive ever seen. She and most of her staff (4 exceptions maybe)make the clients feel disposable.Find another program. It is way too dangerous in the streets to risk relapse because some of the staff WILL push your buttons out that door. They will retaliate if you call oasas. They will hand you a discharge notice if you state you will contact your lawyer & oasas. You have been warned.
