Medical briefcase icon Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Clients in an intensive outpatient rehab (IOP) benefit from robust support but often do not require the high-level supervision and round-the-clock clinical care provided in an inpatient setting. Clients engage in multiple therapeutic sessions weekly, with most programs requiring between nine and 20 treatment hours per week. Intensive outpatient rehabs provide a wide array of evidence-based services, including addiction counseling, recovery-focused life skills training, holistic therapies, and medication assisted treatment (MAT).

aftercare iconAftercare

Clients participating in a rehab aftercare program receive comprehensive and customized support as they leave high-intensity treatment, reintegrate into their community, and focus on maintaining their sobriety. These programs offer a wide variety of services to align with the client's unique and evolving needs, often including medical, mental health, and social service program referrals. Clients typically develop their drug rehab aftercare plan in conjunction with their case manager and care team.

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

A sober living home in Vermont offers a balance between monitored structure and living in mainstream society. No alcohol or drugs are allowed on the premises, and residents must participate in 12-step meetings. Residents of the halfway house also agree to submit to random drug screenings, pay rent, and participate in household activities such as meetings, meals, and chores.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one’s body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

When men and women in Virginia participate in group therapy sessions, they learn to freely express their emotions in a non judgmental setting. This helps you process your feelings and begin to understand the link between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that are associated with addictive behavior.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

Men and women in Virginia use individual therapy to focus on addiction related challenges as a necessary part of their drug and alcohol addiction treatment. Your therapist guides you in developing coping strategies, setting realistic goals, and building a strong foundation for an improved quality of life.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy helps you understand and manage the emotional and physical responses that often follow witnessing or experiencing traumatic events. Using therapeutic interventions, your therapist works with you to reframe that experience, which in turn reduces your anxiety and helps you regain control over your life.

life-skills iconLife Skills

If you've experienced addiction, you may have lost the skills to self manage and adapt to change. Because these basic life skills are crucial for recovery, drug rehab programs typically include life skills training as an integral part of treatment.

Nutrition Therapy

Nutrition therapy teaches you what to eat and not eat, how to grocery shop, how to cook easy nutritious meals, and how to use food as medicine to address your health issues. These skills will help speed up your recovery process and reduce the risk of relapse.

nicotine iconNicotine Replacement Therapy

The goal of nicotine replacement therapy is to reduce the discomfort of quitting cigarettes. It provides small doses of nicotine to curb cravings and withdrawal without exposing you to the other harmful chemicals found in cigarettes.

I have over 3 years in recovery and through some of my most difficult times, Spero has been my saving grace. Alva K (counselor) and Val J (nurse practitioner) have been the BIGGEST blessings to my life. I ve attended several IOPs in the past and have been successful but Spero Petersburg has given me the tools I was lacking. Alva provides the BEST groups and one on ones I have ever been apart of in my 19 years of addiction. She is by far, one of the most talented and truly inspiring women I have had the pleasure of knowing. To be able to know her is a blessing. Val is a beautiful soul who continues to seek knowledge of addiction treatment daily. She will take care of you like no other doctor will ever try. You will feel entirely embraced in love and understanding as long as you are there for the RIGHT reasons. I have to agree with some past reviews, there have been lots of changes but our new case manager, Amber, is amazing. She will help you with ANYTHING you want to conquer (jobs, social services, training) Toya is also someone I can not say enough good things about. If you have a problem with medicine or appointments, she responds in good timing and truly cares. She will work with whatever issues you have going on or that pop up, no worries, Toyas got your back! The entire office is bar none. If you are in need of addiction therapy, MAT meds, call Spero!

This place has saved my life because of the people that are/were in it. It s family orientated. The female doctors have all been my favorite and Jewel. Jewel really goes above and beyond for the patients. She has done everything for me, more than I could ever ask for. Lately, it s been a lot of change and I m not used to that. The whole card thing is ridiculous that have implemented. It s up to the patients to do what they re supposed to do and it s very simple there to follow what you need to do. A therapist left and I haven t been comfortable since other than with Jewel and she s not even a therapist. Bonnie & Toya are great as well. I think they need to fix the drug testing, you have people there that are very serious about being and staying clean and a lot that are not. It s a been a lot of change in the recent months and I just hope it settles down. Especially my last visit, where I used to be in and out and I was there for a while. I feel they re trying to change what doesn t need to be fixed. Feeling like they re trying to make it more corporate.I hope they can start finding permanent employees.I appreciate everything that have done, and especially like I said earlier, Jewel she is a true rockstar in her work!! She takes her time, she shows she cares, she helps others out, she s there anytime I need her

They don't understand how to treat addiction in people whose doctors caused the addiction because they're tailored for street addicts. Their plan is rigid and can't adjust for personal risk factors. I'm giving a low review, which admittedly may not be fair, because of the way a friend was spoken to by the doctor who had already put in his resignation.
