I will share my story and hopefully you know there is hope. Every movement you make here is tracked, literally. You will be manipulated, accused of attention seeking, and not provided any essentials for your health. The program director Tammy (at the time) indefinitely had some stuff going on in her personal life and would quite literally harass the residents. She quite literally told me that because I made good grades, that I was narcissist - which does not really make since. Definitely mentally ill, but not a criminal habibi. The staff mostly followed her lead in being blatantly verbally abusive, but the ones who actually cared ended up quitting because they could not tolerate seeing how poorly we were treated. They tried to prevent my father from signing me out by threatening CPS. Eventually I was hospitalized there and got treatment at Maryhurst, thankfully. And just because I am "so evil" and a "narcissist", my future actually ended up better than they expected, I graduated early, I am in university, studied abroad in Taiwan, and I am still recovering. But I went further than they ever thought I would. And they never wanted me to go far. Parents and Social workers, PLEASE do your research before you send a child to ANY placement in general. It is just unnecessary trauma from adults who want to take advantage of a child who is vulnerable.UPDATE : They have changed their name to Skopos INC. They know what they are doing. I will continue to advocate for the children they are literally abusing. I am so glad I am an adult and I now know what love is. This place was full of hate.

I went here a total of 3 times! The first time I came was in 2017 ( I know a long time ago ). The staff there at the time were very immature and used the power they had against the kids there. Power trip was the main problem for me. Staff played favorites I know because I was one. I went again in beginning of 2018 and the end of 2018. There was barely any family interaction except for phone calls. Just remember not ALL mental health facilities are there for your children and the staff are there for a check, most don t even care what your kids are going through and they know they have the power to lie and so what! I would just be cautious!

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.

Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I went here in 2021, I was 17 at the time and from the get go they treated me horribly. We were not allowed to talk about outside experiences, but if we didn't talk at all they shunned us and told us we were lacking in social skills. There are three phases in this place. Phase 1 you get minimal communication with your family, you don't get to see your family, and your treated as if you are a baby, no independency whatsoever. Phase 2 you get a little bit of independency, you get maybe 4-5 phonecalls a week(I can't remember) and you get day passes where your family gets to take you out of the building but has to return you by 6 pm.(By the way if they were late with the paperwork they had to sign they signed over their rights for you to the facility, something MY parents were not aware of because it was in the "fine print") and therefore if the facility wanted to they could get your parents for kidnapping their own child. And finally Phase 3 where you get to do some cooking and handle stuff independently as well as get weekend passes every other week(if you were lucky) to see your family. Now we get to where I was for the first reason I am giving this facility a 1 star rating(although honestly I wish there was a option to leave the rating 0 stars)I was on Phase 2 and the DAY OF requesting for Phase 3 I was accused of self harm. I woke up with a burning sensation on my stomach and note I had not self-harmed for about 4 months at this point, I never once self harmed in that facility. So obviously I am a little concerned and bring it to the staffs attention. Immediately they begin to belittle me and shun me for selfharming(which by the way I did not do.) And destroyed my room looking for anything and everything that could be used as a weapon on myself. Somehow they just MANAGED to find a plastic fork which had been sharpened with seemingly a pair of scissors and shoved it my face asking me where I got it. I told them it wasn't mine AND EXPLAINED there's no way I could have snuck that to my room because WE DONT USE PLASTIC FORKS AND SPOONS. Needless to say I was belittled and told I didn't deserve anything I had worked so hard on and then was told I was OBVIOUSLY guilty of self harm because I was crying hysterically the whole time as they destroyed all of my personal belongings, including a picture book that had all the things I was hopeful for. I stand by what I say when I say I was assaulted in this facility and then was framed so that I couldn't Phase up. Why would they do this I'm not sure but maybe the staff members didn't like that I brought a tiny bit of hope to that place where their lives were so miserable. The other reason I give this place a 1 star rating is the on campus teacher. I can't remember her name nor do I care to but it was senior pictures day. We were all getting ready and one of the girls wanted to corn role her hair. The teacher who also claimed to double as a hairstylist, REFUSED to let this girl corn roll her hair, saying it didn't look proper or clean, and practically peer pressured the girl to curling her hair instead. So the teacher gets everything together but doesn't realize the curling iron pin wasn't attached properly, well at nearly 350 faranheit this curling iron pin comes off of the curling iron and ROLLS DOWN THIS GIRLS BACK, leaving nasty, dead, gray skin behind which looked like borderline 3rd degree burns. They never took her to the hospital because they "didn't have time."So not only was I assaulted but this girl was assaulted, they could never keep drama down, and often times the staff would be beligerantly mean to us because they had a "bad day"I am thankful for two of the staff members though, in such a cold and desolate place as Spectrum Care Academy they lived up to the name. They did care and because of this were belittled often times by other staff members. They were literal lights and without them I would not have been able to make it through my time in spectrum care academy.

Never ended up going, but only because the staff refused to divulge any information of what would be happening to me when I went down there. I was also not told anything either. by the time they wanted to collect me from the hospital, they had given my mom maybe an hours notice and she shut all of that down real quick. I am not surprised in the slightest to read about all the horrible things that go on there.

The place is trash, the workers are trash. Reported Jamie for buying drugs in another state and brining them back for workers. (With physical evidence) They ve been reported to state plenty of times. Do not send your kids here, it s not an healthy environment and shouldn t be considered therapy. It is an imprisonment. Children are treated like prisoners. No exercise, nothing to benefit the children. Do not leave your children here.

I was an old resident here the staff treat the kids horribly. Very traumatic.(if your kid is trans they won t use their preferred name or pronouns). They take advantage over the fact their in a higher position than you and treat the residents terrible I wouldn t wish my worst enemy to go here I don t know how this place is still being allowed to be around. The staff and kids gossip with each other about staff and residents and it s terrible you ll get yelled at for the smallest things like looking out the window or if you looked angry they d say fix your face don t ever send your kids here ALOT of my peers who were there when I was were signed out by their parents (and you have to be careful about being honest about what s going on when you call home because they monitor your calls(they make you sit next to them or talk to where they can hear you) and will threaten to take your calls away for staff bashing if you say anything remotely negative or try and say that you ve been mistreated in any way by a staff.).it s terrible I was signed out (thankfully). Please don t send your children here.

Absolute hell. Wouldn t recommend to anyone at all. I actually came out of spectrum worse then I was when I went in there. Got lots of trauma from being there and I also gained about 30 pounds because of not getting any exercise. Some of the staff who worked there should NOT be around kids with trauma because they brought more trauma. Some of the staff were really immature and weren t good role models. They picked favorites and talked about other residents and staff to us. And for the therapy, it wasn t even relevant to what I was actually going through. Not a very good reward system for those who who tried their hardest. Not enough outings.

This was an awful experience. I had therapy a total of 5 times within the 4.5 months I was there. It was like complete torture. I know this is a mental hospital, but they took that name to the extreme. I understand having to ask to go to the restroom but I don t understand asking if I can open the bathroom door after asking to go to the restroom. Some precautions were great and I understood them, others were way too harsh some days I will get in trouble for looking out the window. All in all I don t recommend sending your children here I recommend seeking better help than this facility. thank you for reading my comment

I do not regret coming here. The amount of respect the staff give you. Yes it was difficult. But in the end it was worth it.
