Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Maine is the process of helping someone learn how to live without the use of substances. Professional staff provide treatment to address the various issues of addiction. Methods often involve medication, counseling, and evidence-based therapies.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Joe, the owner, is sincere and passionate about helping other alcoholics and addicts and their families, in recovery find SOLUTIONS. He is a direct, no B.S. guy with clear passion for moving forward and helping, even if it means sending folks to other recovery resources outside of his own. Joe is friggin awesome. I highly recommend any family struggling with addiction to get in touch with him. Seriously, if you're looking for a solution, get in touch today, he answers the phone!

Ian, Thank you for the kind words. Like we discussed, if there is anything I can do moving forward, please feel free to give me a shout and just know that you got me as a resource on the east coast. Also do not hesitate to give my number to the person if he is willing to meet or at least talk. I can almost always carve out a block of time to meet.

I came to Skip Murphy s on August 4, 2014 following several attempts at treatment over the course of nearly four years. Skip Murphy s gave me a new start, and options that I had not had previously. I think that it was the combination of support, structure, fellowship and the 12 step program, as well as working with a sponsor that allowed me to focus on my sobriety. Also, I have been able to make a lot of caring and supportive friendships. I was able to finally get my life back on track at Skip s: I now have a good job, and I m straightening out other aspects of my life that had fallen apart during my active addiction. I am very proud to belong to this program, and do my best to represent the name as it has given so much to me. I am very grateful for this opportunity.

Alex, I used to talk to your Mom at those Learn to Cope meetings in Mass. I never thought you would end up over here in Maine @ Skip Murphy's. We are thrilled to see that you have maintained recovery and are applying the principles to other aspects of your life. We wish you the very best on your next move after Skip Murphy's. Please stay in contact, sponsor our new clients and participate in our alumni events. I look forward to staying in contact with you. Thank you for all you have done.

What can I say? Skip Murphy's has been exactly what I needed when I needed it. Here I was provided with the guidance and tools necessary to begin me upon my journey of recovery. Immediately upon admittance, I had a good vibe about this place. The staff and clients were friendly, courteous, and clearly had something working in their lives that I needed. I was shown around Portland and made to feel right at home. I was finally surrounded by people who genuinely cared about me and had a solution that they were more than eager to share with me. Unlike places I had been previously, the owner, Joe, personally met with me and helped set up a plan of action. He was much more concerned with how to help rather than if my rent was paid yet. Skip Murphy's has helped me and countless others to find the solution to drug addiction and alcoholism as I'm sure it will for countless others for many years to come.

Over the years, I have spent time in many treatment facilities. I have been at Skip Murphy's for a few months now, and it has been my best experience yet. Skip Murphy's provides an amazing, clean environment, and offers a very personable service with a sincere desire to help men in recovery grow in the twelve steps and rebuild their life and it has helped me and my family immensely. Simply put, if my best friend wanted to get sober and rebuild their life, Skip Murphy's is where I would tell him to go.

So far so Good! I've only been here a little over a month and the owner and management team are already like family. I came here straight from rehab so I only have a few months of sobriety. There is always and open door here to talk to someone when I'm doing well and when I'm not doing so well. For me tough love is needed but they do have compassion because they were once in my shoes. The bottom line is they want to give back what they were given. Their purpose is to help other addicts get well and get back to being a productive member of society. I'm blessed to be here this is the only sober house I've been too and I've heard from others what sober living is usually like in other places and Skip's is totally opposite. The roomates are awesome along with the house itself. If your wondering, "Are the pictures of the house are accurate?" Yes, the house is this nice. I've tried some other methods to stay sober but there was never a solution. Here we work the Twelve Steps of AA. Portland has an huge Recovery community too. This is definately the place to get well and give back so come join us at Skip Murphy's!

I don't know where I would be without the help of Skip Murphy's Sober House. This place has helped me learn how to lead a happy and productive life in sobriety. They have taught me the necessary skills and tools I will need to live my life out of the Sober House. I can't give enough thanks to Chris Gabriel and Joe Riley for all of the time and effort they have put into helping me get my life on track.-Steven Erskine
