Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Ohio provides comprehensive treatment to address the physical and psychological needs of those struggling with substance use disorders. This may involve inpatient and/or outpatient care.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.

Family therapy offers a group time to collectively make an effort to understand and combat the issues and challenges associated with addiction. I was admitted here on November 4th 2018.Found out I was pregnant while in the psychiatric portion of Shepherd Hill.I had spent 6 days in the psych cottage, and was moved to the rehabilitation cottage C on night 7. I spent one single day and night in the rehab cottage.Unfortunately I had such severe morning sickness that I could not attend that next mornings classes. I was walked into a conference room with all the doctors and all of the support staff involved in the program. They proceed to tell me I was not recommended to be a good fit for the program They had no hope for me. They really could have cared less about the outcome of my life and my daughter. They wrote down the information for LAPP on a sticky note, and discharged me shortly after. I literally walked down the road crying with my duffle bag in hand and had no clue where to begin my sobriety and healing.Thankfully II can say for FACT that I ve been sober since Nov.4th 2018, with ZERO help or support from Shepherd Hill.I want the rehabilitation program coordinators to know, that I am THRIVING in life despite their judgements of where I was mentally, emotionally and physically. They may given up on me, but I didn t give up on me.My daughter is 4 years old now and healthy, happy, beautiful and so incredibly intelligent. I live for her. I have changed my entire life around to be the best mother, person, and role model that I can possibly be for her.I KNEW despite their assumptions that I was going to give up, that I had a whole life to build for her.I want them to know, that I have come so far WITHOUT their help .I may have only received my 24 hr sobriety coin from their program, but I am coming up on 5 YEARS of sobriety despite the way they they went about assessing my path to sobriety and success.I pray that those who wrongfully judged me back then, haven t treated others the same way I was treated. Unfortunately I have a sickening feeling there has been more people sent away from this program than have been helped. Simply due to judgement.I ve heard countless stories of people who have unfortunately been treated similarly to the way I had been treated in this program. I do unfortunately know for a fact, that 2 people I knew from outside the program I had seen in the program that were both there the same time as I was, one is still using today and one has lost their life due to their continuous battle with addiction. The last thing I have to say, if anyone is seeking help through their program, please seek elsewhere.

The program is amazing. The Treatment team is horrendous. I was told to turn my will and my life over to them, my will and my life belong to my higher power

Do not go here, whatever you do, if you want to stay sober. There are 3 TOTAL counselors who've been there for years and are set in their ways, from the 80's IMO. 2 alcoholics and 1 not, but all are totally worthless. Get some help somewhere else PLEASE.

I have NO words to express my gratitude and love for the staff here! I was all but dead in my addiction, (REALLY)! They are amazing, they had done so much for me I can't even name. I DO know they saved my life. They gave me the knowledge needed to stay alive, and healthy. Seriously with this program if you are willing to listen, learn apply the correct tools they give you in your tool box, You can and you WILL make it I am so thankful about what (Ellen) did for me, I can never repay her or them but I will work at Shephards Hill next year after I get some sobriety under my belt, my goal is to help others hopefully till the day I retire, THAT says something!
