Well I do not have any personal experiences with this subject other then living many through my very own son. We have lived in San Juan for 34 years and what a wonderful place to live. I did also manage the only other treatment center in the area for a bit. There for I've witnessed both sides. With that I will say that ALL privately, city or government funded facilities NEED to be watched. The patients are there for 1of 2 reasons, they've either received a court order or they sicncerely WANT help in kicking their habit. The latter will succeed no matter where they are. The others will continue to need assistance. Neither are there to babysit their belongings. Folks its no joke our TRY CITES are exteamly infected with many serious and dangerous drugs that are killing our children. NOW do you still wish to put your millions into any kind of property here? If so you should consider a MORG. No joke..These kids need your help not your dollars. You will only get to read this if Google has the balls to make a statement and HELP!

I lived in Serenity House for 13 months, two of which I did not live there but I still payed the rent. In the end I did, unfortunately, relapse a few weeks after one of the roommates overdosed & died in the unit above me. I was asked to leave before any drug testing was done and informed the owner I would be in treatment for a month. I left brand new furniture, many thousands of dollars worth of various electronics/books/other items and clothes, thinking they would be safe until I got out of treatment seeing as I was payed up through the end of the month. After a week the owner stopped answering my calls. I did get through once to tell I would be down in a few days to get my things and he said "That would be fine". I went down about a week after to get my belongings everything had "disappeared". I was told they donated everything after three days. Once I went inside I noticed some of the things that were "donated" were on a book shelf and when I asked they owner said "Oh, you can have those, but everything else is gone". I left after that and have not been back. I have also witnessed the owner steal and open the mail of past tenants that have left. I have filled out a report about the stealing mail and my belongings and am in the process of still recouping my belongings. I considered the owner a good friend and loved the place but I can in no way, shape or form recommend the place to anyone. The things that go on are wrong and also illegal. A man also DIED from an OVERDOSE shortly before I left. There is much more using than that. Please go to one of the many better choices in the area that are even more affordable.

This place has helped me a lot! Coming from a place where I didn't see much hope in my life. I ended up at Serenity House. I have felt welcomed and encouraged from day one. The people that live here have been nothing but encouraging and helpful in my life and recovery. The house manager is full of wisdom and experience and does not think twice about taking the time to lend a hand or help me through something in my personal life. The houses are always clean and well taken care of.I enjoy staying here and do recommend this sober living to anyone that might be looking for a place for themselves or a loved one.

Addiction Treatments

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.
