About Seafield Amityville

Seafield Amityville is an outpatient detox located in Amityville, New York. They offer medically assisted detox, medication assisted treatment, intensive AM and PM individual therapy, gender specific group counseling and a court ordered DWI program. They offer treatment to men and women ages 13 and up.

Detox is the first step in addiction recovery, and for many people it’s the most intense and difficult phase to pass. Medical supervision ensures the process is safe and comfortable for anyone looking to begin healing from substance addiction. During the detox process, you’ll be closely monitored by Seafield’s medical staff to ensure your condition stabilizes slowly and safely.

They’ll gradually decrease the amount of medication you receive as your body removes residual substances from your bloodstream. After you’re finished detoxing, you can start an MAT program to manage withdrawal and cravings.

Something I appreciate about Seafield Amityville is that they’re honest about how different every person’s recovery journey can be. They don’t make false claims that your treatment process will look a certain way. Instead, they promise to work relentlessly to help you overcome addiction for good.

This is a wonderful program if you actually get in.That being said, them denying someone for reasons of recent overdose and recent hospital visits due to withdrawals is absurd. Not only was this person denied inpatient but also outpatient care AFTER staff directed him to show up with his bag packed so he could go to the program that day.Based on recent drug-related medical history a person who was genuinely trying to get help was belittled and embarrassed by the woman handling his intake.

Fran has lost her desire, her drive, her heart for this job. Have you ever heard of a medical establishment completely turn its back on a patient in need because one of the nurses forgot to do her job and inform the patient of his appointment date, as well as just randomly stop texting patients to tell them about appointment dates. Then when a patient complains guess what, she threatens, and try s to punish them. Except she forgets that although Fran tries to damage her patients and ruin their lives. Some of us survive despite her going against many of Seafield s policies.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Seafield provides safe, clean, supportive recovery housing for both men and women and for young men. Their recovery homes are designed to meet the needs of the residents residing there. Many clients self-pay for housing at rates that are extremely affordable, and their treatment at OASAS-licensed facilities is covered by their insurance.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
A drug intervention in New York occurs when family members and friends lovingly confront someone with a substance use disorder. The goal of this confrontation is to motivate the person to seek treatment. Loved ones point out how the person's destructive behavior is affecting them in hopes that they will agree to get help. Most inpatient rehab facilities offer intervention services that can help families walk through this process step by step.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
The partial hospitalization program (PHP) level of care offers short-term, intensive rehab for individuals with acute symptoms that require focused management but don't require 24/7 care. PHP treatment provides structured programming (i.e. individual and group therapy) and allows you to return home in the evening. PHP treatment typically meets weekly for a minimum of 20 hours with the duration typically averaging 90 days. While PHP treatment cost can vary, it is often covered by most providers.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

When you choose drug rehab in New York, you'll participate in a variety of treatments that are designed to help you live a drug-free lifestyle. Common methods of treatment include group, individual, and family counseling, medication management, nutrition, exercise, and management of co-occurring mental health disorders.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. Seafield Outpatient - Amityville offers Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Uniformed Service Members (USM) who are experiencing trauma and addiction.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely. Seafield Outpatient - Amityville offers Motivational Interviewing for Uniformed Service Members (USM) who are experiencing trauma and addiction.

Trauma therapy involves working through the psychological and emotional impact of a traumatic event. You learn to identify the triggers and develop coping mechanisms that build a sense of safety and trust in yourself.

You can participate in couples therapy to focus on a specific problem in your relationship or for general strengthening of the relationship. This therapy aims to help you improve communication, address conflict, and grow in affection for one another.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Do yourself a favor and don t attempt to get help here. They are only after your money not your recovery. They drained my health benefits and also make me pay co payments . They will come up with a final bill at the final group meeting . The only friendly person is Kathy in the front desk. Avoid this center by all means necessary.

THANK YOU Fran Valentino and the ENTIRE Seafield Amity team! You have been instrumental in my 19 year old sons rehabilitation and continued addiction recovery. He has been clean of Opioid use with your guidance, care, love and therapy. We could not have come this far without you! From personal meetings, calls, and daily interaction with Fran Exec Director, Joseph his counselor, Jennifer and her team in MAT program, and Dan regarding office and health coverage, you all have made this possible, and my family couldn't thank you enough or have asked for anything else! We are eternally grateful as your program was effective, close and personal. I would recommend anyone with addiction problems, please go here for help! They saved our child's life! Thank you all and for your continued help!

Before choosing this place I read the reviews and I was scared but honestly I had limited options. I m so grateful I came here. I was able to get taken care of and the groups were helpful. I learned a lot. The lady who runs it, Fran V. Took extra time with me to talk about my kids and what I needed to take care of them. She helped me find the strength I didn t know I had honestly.

Best experience for my family member who really needed help. Fran helped me work out so much stuff with understanding my loved one and what they were going through. She also took the time to really get to know him as a person and not an addict. She was kind and empathetic which was not the same experience he received at a different detox. I have nothing but great things to say about the counselors and Fran!!!!

I started doing outpatient here in March of 2022 and after successfully completing group therapy over the course of about 7 or 8 months, decided to continue my individual sessions once a week as they are a great tool for me and I feel like they really help. I attribute this to my counselor Fran who has been a huge support for me and is very knowledgeable in the field of addiction and recovery. The other counselors are generally good for the most part, but Fran goes above and beyond and has been a good fit for me and has helped me grow in the ups and downs of sobriety.

Fran also tried to bamboozle me to see them for a month and a half before seeing their psychiatrist. But they wanted me to attend 1 hr group sessions 5x a week till then. I barely had enough money to get to work and outpatient and she laughed at me just like the group counselor. He was busy looking at TikTok while the patients were running the group. When I inquired about my intake form and what the counselor thought would be helpful for me specifically, he had no idea who I was or why I was there. This place is an abomination of a healthcare facility. I ve reported them to multiple state agencies and news facilities. They are going to be exposed very soon. It s a shame that they are utilizing tactics to take advantage of people that are hanging by a string. The old adage is true - you reap what you sow and they will be held accountable. I strongly suggest you write and date all personal and conversations
