About Sea Mar Everett Behavioral Health

Sea Mar Community Health Centers is located in Everett, Washington. This mental health chemical dependency treatment clinic provides general outpatient treatment to clients of all ages. The center serves anyone regardless of background, including race, religion, nationality, sexuality and gender identity.

The staff is comprised of nurses, counselors, and other medical professionals with a range of specialties. Together they can provide you with specialized care for your specific situation. This interdisciplinary approach allows them to treat a broader scope of problems and concerns under one roof.

What I like about this clinic, besides its dedication to serving anyone, is its openness to providing care to those without insurance. No one should ever be denied help due to affordability, and their sliding fee scale program can be a great help if you’re uninsured, underinsured, or low income.

While some past clients have said they experienced some customer service issues, many have reported positive experiences with a clean setting and friendly staff.

The front desk receptionists are pretty rude and uninviting. Some of the staff laughed at me because I got the appointment date wrong, I'm sorry that I have mental health issues and I'm struggling, but yeah keep laughing.Apparently, I'm the one who is supposed to be super open and trusting and have it together. Borderline incompetent staff, who openly give out my information by the way, they don't seem to have any understanding of what it means to respect someone's privacy and personal information, but you do you I guess. There's one good one, but I'm not going to single them out by naming them. You would expect a Behavioral Health Clinic to be a bit more kind and friendly, to rise above it all, but no, you the person who is struggling has to be the one who takes care of them, you have to more sympathetic.I also think they are biased on who they want as clients, which is fine I guess, you're allowed to have people you want, but still it bothers me. In addition to that the interior is shoddy and unwelcome. I don't know what their finances are so maybe it's the best they can do, but still it can't be hard to paint a wall, add some color, maybe some decorations, make the wood finish look nice, have more pens, better pens. The bathroom is nice. The carpet's nasty.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Effective drug rehab in Washington integrates care for the whole person, offering comprehensive solutions to addiction. Treatment methods address mental, physical, and relational aspects of substance abuse.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Eating disorders include anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, and dysfunctional eating patterns. Many psychologists and other mental health professionals consider eating disorders to be food addictions, meaning food is being used in an addictive way (similar to drug or alcohol addiction). Certain substance abuse treatment programs will have treatment for eating disorders as one of the services offered. An eating disorder may also present as a co-occuring disorder or dual diagnosis alongside drug and alcohol addiction.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Don't believe anything of what you can read in reviews or their webpage because those things are a bunch of lies, they don't offer everything they say they do and the ones that they offer are done in a mediocre way.

The Clinic is nice and clean. The front desk is always doing their best! The therapists are great! The supervisors are wonderful!Unfortunately the psychiatrists/med providers training is not compatible with my unique treatment goals. If you are having communication breakdown then reach out to a supervisor or third party within the clinic to make sure needs are met and you have accurate information about your treatment options.

This review is based SOLELY on Angela Kokinakos (you'll see she wrote her own review below, despite it being conflict of interest; the unprofessionalism does not stop there). She will prescribe you a drug that causes infertility and/or birth defects of any future children you have. She will fail to include your insurance when ordering any lab or tests; leaving you will a bill to sort out on your own.She will change after visit notes after they've already been posted. She will lie in her summaries of your visit. She will fabricate stories to earn your trust (like a sociopath). She will tell you she has 10+ years of experience, however, according to her credentials she has not had even 2 years of psychiatric experience. If you have an appointment with Angela Kokinakos, CANCEL YOUR APPOINTMENT IMMEDIATELY.She does not care about science, biology, or you; all she cares about is manipulation and a paycheck.

Can't make appointments, they only do walk in's. We were there 15mins before they open with only 2 other people waiting and were told to try again next week. Apparently they only had 2 doctors and 2 appointments available for the entire day. Incredibly frustrating and completely defeats the purpose of seeking help, to be turned away week after week.

It s extremely hard to get an appointment here. The earliest appointments they have are 9am and latest are 4pm, Monday through Friday. In what world does that work for people with jobs? The only reason for two stars is the clinician that helped me during my intake assessment was caring and compassionate. The rest of the staff is as caring as emergency room staff when you re having a mental health crisis (iykyk). Stay clear of this place.

Was released from a behavioral health clinic and was told to go to sea mar. After being told they wouldn t take my state insurance I was told to pay a sliding scale. I went to my first appointment at the Everett location. The staff was rude which is normal for these kinds of places. They took down all my info and set me up for another appointment. The next appoint was my first therapy appointment which the therapist asked me basic questions. The next appointment I was scheduled they canceled the appointment saying I had to wait another 2 weeks after that I was able to get on a zoom meeting (which is really uncomfortable when discussing personal matters.) after on an off changing and cancellations of my appointments I went off my medications. They also only have one prescriber and I was able to set up an appointment after 2 months. Any ways the staff is really rude and disrespectful and manipulative to not only me but to my mother. I m pretty sure they broke the terms of the ROI (request of information) because the were talking about my appointments to my mother who wasn t on the ROI.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE WASTES THEIR TIME!!! Absolutely outrageous!! I have called Tuesday-Thursday at 9 and 11am never a spot. This has been going on for 2 weeks. The majority of the time the worker counselors are out sick. REALLY??? I agree why is this place even allowed to be open? They are doing the bare minimum and probably funded by the government. When someone is desperately trying to get help this is the help we get?? Thank you. I will be taking this to the next level. Also tried to talk with the supervisor or manager they are out also when I ask. SHEESH!!!!

I called countless times and left voicemails with zero return calls. Why are mental health facilities like this allowed to exist? It s clear as day that they are manipulating the system and providing the bare minimum to stay open and profitable.Read all the reviews. Don t waste your time with this place. But good luck on your search to a brighter mental state:)
