About Samuel Field YM and YWHA

The Sam Field Center provides a range of community based programs for people of all ages in Little Neck, New York. They offer many programs including an early childhood center, camps and clinics for youth and socialization activities for older adults. They also have an outpatient center called the CAPE Mental Health Clinic. Here, they offer counseling and other services for adolescents and adults. They accept self pay, commercial insurance, Medicaid and Medicare.

At their clinic, they can help you work through your challenges and live a healthy lifestyle. Some of their services include individual, couples and family counseling. During your sessions, you’ll talk to your counselor about any issues you’re facing, which may include substance abuse. You can attend in person or online through their teletherapy program.

Something I like about this clinic is that the team here is experienced and multidisciplinary. Depending on the kind of care you need, you could work with an array of specialists including social workers, psychiatrists and nurse practitioners. There’s also a peer advocate hotline you can call for immediate reassurance, information and community referrals.

Another interesting feature is that they have many bilingual staff members available. You can receive services in a range of languages including Arabic, Chinese, Turkish, French and others.

Initially very difficult to reach anyone consistently, however after speaking with Marianna in Special Svs Summer camp I received all the details I needed for the program they offer.

Thank you Shaynee for your patience, and we apologize for the difficulty. Your feedback was very important to us recognizing a communication flaw as we transitioned from our school year programming to summer programming where our staff spend less time in the office and more time in the field with our program participants. Thank you again and we hope that we were able to be helpful.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

I have been going to the Samuel Field Y since I was 4 or 5!! I went for so many programs including the Basketball Buddies/Soccer Stars Program for individuals with autism. The Special Services program is such a great programs to get the kids motivated and try new things as a team. I love how they are a peanut-free facility! I even love the people that go there a lot too! Everyone welcomes you with open arms. And I feel so loved everytime I walk in that place. The Island Quest Day Camp is such a great camp to follow your quests at all costs!! If you know someone with a disability, I recommend this place because you will get extra support like I did.

The Y has always felt like home to me and many others who are from this area. When my maternity leave was coming to an end and I started researching different daycares to send my daughter to, I felt instantly at ease knowing Common Point was an option for her age. The teachers and staff are phenomenal. Common point has created a loving, nurturing environment where she can feel safe and comfortable which allows her to grow and thrive. It s clear the team is invested in her learning and development. Every morning when we enter the door my daughter giggles and squirms, because she knows where she is and she s excited to be there. The name has changed but the values and the feeling of home remain the same - I m proud to say another generation is enjoying moments in these walls.

My stepson went here as an after-school program a few years back and loved it, so I figured to send my daughter here for 3k, and I was skeptical cause there were a few bad reviews. But it was convenient for mom to drop her and then head to work since it was close and my daughter loved it and the teachers are very nice. Best decision I made despite the negative reviews.

Please don't send your kid to here. They had no response to your questions. Neither their teachers nor directors, they don't care about your kids.

Horrible place run by a cold, unfeeling, critical director of bereavement counseling. I attempted to make an appointment as I was a patient back in 2005 when my husband died. I lost my fiance in January and she said "if I was savvy I'd remember my grief counseling 16 years earlier". How dare this cold-hearted horrible woman insult and judge me. Do not use their counseling services. This place should be reported for their incompetence.

Please do not send your child to Sam fields early childhood education center. Black, White, Asian or Hispanic. Children are not safe there. Parents often miss important cues from their child/children because we are busy with work. This organization preys on busy families and treat children in the most inhumane manner. They do not follow DOH and DOE standards for operating early childhood education center.
