About Samaritan Village – Outpatient

Samaritan Daytop Village Jamaica Outpatient Treatment Program is located in Jamaica, New York and is affiliated with the Samaritan Village organization. They are an alcohol and drug rehab center, but provide services on an outpatient basis. They also treat dual diagnoses, where someone struggles with a mental health diagnosis and substance use disorder at the same time.

One thing that stands out to me is that not only do they want to help your mental health and substance use issues, they also want to help you address any health concerns that you might have.

As part of their outpatient treatment, you have the opportunity to engage in their Day Rehabilitation services which is considered an “intensive structured program.” You would attend this program for four hours per day for five days a week. This specific program can include different interventions such as vocational rehab and peer recovery coaching. Their regular outpatient services can include therapy, case management, and medication services.

They also offer 24/7 access to medication assisted treatment through Buprenorphine prescriptions for maintaining sobriety or if you are needing medically supervised detox services. If this is the route of treatment you decide to take they will ensure that you have access to a psychiatrist and medication management to make sure your needs are being met appropriately.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

When you choose drug rehab in New York, you'll participate in a variety of treatments that are designed to help you live a drug-free lifestyle. Common methods of treatment include group, individual, and family counseling, medication management, nutrition, exercise, and management of co-occurring mental health disorders.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

I am writing this review for Juana only. She made herself available to resolve an issue regarding outstanding paperwork for a family member. She answered calls, returned them promptly and delivered. Craig was supposed to handle the matter but was unsuccessful. Juana made it happen. Please make sure to ask for Juana if you need assistance. Also, if you require documentation, please ask for copies or email them to you so that you can have proof that the work was completed. Do not leave there unless you obtain copies or some proof of completion. You rock Juana!

I cannot overstate how life changing this program has been for me. I went from suicidal and depressed, feeling worthless and a burden to feeling like not only is life worth living, there are so many opportunities to explore! The social nature of group helps, the peers are amazing and multiple people have made themselves available to me when they didn't have to. The greatest thing for me has been how client-centered this program is. There are so many social outings that are driven by our interests as a group, and all feedback is taken not only seriously but is acted upon. That is a rare and precious thing. This program let me see joy and a future where before I saw only despair and unending gray slog to be endured at best. I am now looking to help others the way this program has helped me. I am endlessly grateful and a little amazed that this exists.

They didn't send a letter to the court that I attended for 2 years. Other times the assistant director complained about having to run group and not sending out other clients letters who were at court and remanded. They were early at group complaining though! Court started at 8, group at 9am ended by 10-10:30. Plenty of time to submit a pre written letter. Wasted 2 years of my life and a lot of money! I turned down overtime on night shifts because It was optional and my greed according to them but going to group, work, then 16 hours at work then group and back to work wasn't a good idea eat
