EDIT TO MY REVIEW: without speaking to me at all they discontinued my ADHD medication and said I no longer needed it as if my ADHD magically went away. Was a 5 star review, now a 2 star. Would give 1 but the nurses were really sweet.I can only speak for unit A, but it was an amazing experience. The staff really seemed to be involved and caring. It can be a bit boring from time to time, but ultimately I came out much better than when I went in.

I am surprised to see so many negative reviews about this wonderful place. The staff here at KBMC are not humans; they are Angels. From the colors and uniforms they wear which represent positive emotions, to the kindness and concern for their patients. I am not kidding. They don t accepted walk in and that is the only thing i can complain about. You have to be referred from emergency room. I wish to go back and get more help. Thank you KBMC.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
hiv-aids-program thumbnail image
HIV/AIDS Program
HIV/AIDS programs support disease prevention and management in high-risk individuals in recovery. Individuals who engage in intravenous drug use and other addictive behaviors are at a higher risk of becoming infected with HIV. Rehab centers that specialize in treating this population typically have a high number of nurses, physicians, and psychiatrists on staff who can make sure both their medical and mental health needs are met.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

If this was about the nurses in the adult in patient unit they would get 5 stars from me.I came here for help, I admitted my self for help, the doctor come around 1 time in the morning for 5 minutes and somehow they run the place? Rachel the pysch who ever is inpersonable and she has 0 business being in this business- she pretends she listens and then prescribes you what you said didn t work. I fell through the cracks again and left here feeling more hopeless and suicidal then when I went in. I left on an antidepressant, when my breakdown was anxiety induced? And nothing for anxiety? Make that make sense. I wasted 4 days here for them to do absolutely nothing for me. When I mentioned I felt this way I was told well you re getting discharged so we can t change your meds, but if you have any problems you can always come back. Why would I come back ?I will actually put a bullet through my skull before I come back here. Thank yall for verifying that if your normal presenting mentally ill NO ONE cares about you.To Rachel in psychiatric at kbmc. Please listen to your clients when they say a medication does not work for them, instead of prescribing it anyway!

My husband was transferred here after he had nervous breakdown at work and the hospital said they felt he could hurt himself so he was pink slipped and ended up coming out of this place so messed up the incident happened in September and he is still trying to get back to normal they should really evaluate some of the other patients they have in there before letting them around each other the conversation that my husband told me occurred once he came home is absolutely ridiculous they weren t stopped and handled on a 1:1 basis and the so called dr that called me while my husband was there decided to completely disregard that my husband was on meds and just decided that he would be on no meds while there and did not even call his psychiatrist that he was there and when I called his psychiatrist office to reach out they refused to take the call I wouldn t trust this place to take care of any of your loved ones and if any of your loved ones end up here be prepared for them to come out even more messed up then they have ever been before

Works off you need a referral then they have to look at the referral for 2 or more weeks and determine if they will even take you, not helpful. This was verbatim the staff I just called.

Kbmc themselves is great my stay at kbmc was amazing great staff ect but they need to make it so that you don't have to go through the er to be admitted I was threatened and verbally harassed in the er over simply refuseing blood work so bad that I'm generally considered never going back no matter how much help I need needle phobia is real and FYI when someone says " can I have 30 minutes to calm down before you stab me with a needle again because you've already stabbed me five times you shouldn't respond with " if you don't let me take your blood right now I'm calling security and having you restrained and sedated"

This place drives me insane. It was great when I needed to find a last-minute psychiatrist after a brief hospitalization, but holy cow, it's not a great long-term option. Ivan either didn't chart any of our appointments, or never looked at his computer, because every appointment was the same. Misdiagnosis, discussion of the misdiagnosis, questioning every medication I've tried, rinse and repeat. All of this information should be in my chart, but he relies on me to tell him about all the medication that HE prescribed me in the past and why we stopped it and he keeps telling me I have a certain diagnosis, even though last appointment he told me that I didn't have that condition. AND I ran out of meds that I absolutely can't stop, and never received a call back. I went a few weeks ago and they never pushed through my refills so I have to try to call again and just hope they call me back. Totally unorganized, unprofessional and just a giant pain to deal with. You're better off finding another psychiatry option.

Christine from the far hills ave office has the WORSE additude I have EVER seen. I'm 24 weeks pregnant and in the process of moving out of state. I lost my insurance due to my dads death and I was not able to make an appointment because I could not afford it. Long story short I called to ask for one more refill on my anti depressents because I was out and I need to take those. She was the coldest and just the most unhelpful person ever. So now I have to go a week without my meds which is NOT safe. But she didnt seem to care. I will be contacting someone else.
