About Salvation Army – Family Crisis

Salvation Army – Family Crisis is an intensive transitional shelter program near Marysville, California. They serve adults and families who are experiencing homelessness. They provide recovery opportunities for dual diagnosis, developmental disabilities and mental health conditions.

One wonderful feature is their services are free if you’re eligible. Their target population is single women and families who are homeless. If you fit this population, you can receive assistance and supportive services to get back on your feet. They may also connect you with different levels of substance abuse treatment such as residential rehab or outpatient services.

Their shelter is made up of three dorms and 11 single family rooms. I like that you have the option of a private space to focus on sobriety. As you live in their program, they provide resources to help you gain independence and move forward in recovery.

Former clients shared positive and negative experiences. Some reported transformative care that helped them rebuild their lives for a brighter future. Others described unresponsiveness to inquiries and poor experiences with staff.

Recovery is different for everyone and what works for someone else may not work for you.
Finding the best care requires researching and considering multiple facilities.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Edit: welcome to this place where the staff treat regular homeless and addicts the same way and treat parents as if they have absolutely NO rights or say in how they raise their children. Like you can't parent your kids at all because staff constantly intervenes and undermines your authority as the parent. They treat step parents like dirt. If you try to correct your child or kids in anyway be careful because you could catch a cps report. The higher ups are referred to as "major" and I'm pretty sure it's false Valor because I'm sure neither has ever served. The entire 4 months that myself and my family of 5 were there my fiancee and I were treated like garbage for how we parented our boys. And no they didn't help in finding housing, the life building center while a certain someone was still working there helped tremendously in finding us housing than the depo or hsp ever did. If I had had a choice back when we were homeless between ANYWHERE ELSE and the depo, I would've chosen anywhere else. A select few of the staff were very nice and understanding and I love the hell out of em for helping keep the sanity in me through it all.I'm currently homeless, been motel hopping since December 20th. I was told after informingthem of the referral sent to them by the life building center that someone would call ne around noon today. NOBODY called, called them before closing time to try to get ahold of someone and after my call being transferred to the right person was met by an answering machine because they had already left. As of tomorrow, my family of five and I have NOWHERE to go. Hsp has been dragging their feet and my worker doesn't know a damn thing outside hsp, needless to say I'm stressed af and would appreciate it if people would be professional and stick to their word.

My daughter joined the program because she was homeless. Now she is in a nice apartment with their help. They did good by her . Just don't park your car down the hill over night. There are ruthless theives lurking at night , wanting to steal cars & break into them. Keep your car up the hill over night.
