medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

Drug rehab in Michigan provides personalized treatment to help individuals break this cycle and regain control of their lives. Treatment methods are used in various levels of care, including inpatient rehab, partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, and standard outpatient treatment.

mental-health iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Hand holding medical sign icon Clinical Services

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

life-skills iconLife Skills

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

desert iconMotivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

nicotine iconNicotine Replacement Therapy

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I need to rant for a moment or I am going to explode. I have been stewing since July 13th regarding my treatment at TRINITY OF LIVONIA HOSPITAL. They took something traumatic and made it even more horrific and could have caused serious harm had I not had family watching out for me. This was prior to me going to Covenant Hospital in Saginaw. After reporting to their patient advocate, filing a complaint with the state against them, and following up with attorneys. I am told that there was no negligence and hospitals in Michigan do not need to treat you for serious injury unless you are actually dying, and they do not need to send you home with proper pain medications because people love drugs these days. Ofcourse I've been thankful every single day that I have had family looking out for me, and thankful I didn't end up with complications, and thankful for accident insurance. But the nerve of them to say they did no wrong is awful. Since they won't take any ownership of wrongdoing, I guess I'll enjoy spreading the word about their patient care. My injuries were: "Comminuted mildly displaced and impacted fracture of the lateral tibial plateau. Nondisplaced fracture of the medial tibial plateau. Moderate-sized lipohemarthrosis. No traumatic malalignment.""ct the left knee reveals a split depressed lateral tibial plateau fracture with the majority of the depression posterior in the lateral plateau. The fracture line does cross to the medial side of the tibial spine but there is minimal medial plateau involvement.""left Schatzker 2 tibial plateau fracture"Oh and I had a small tear in my meniscus just to add some more spice. The non scientific explanation I was given was "your tibia looks like crushed ice." After spending time at Trinity of Livonia with my brother and husband having to do the jobs of the nursing staff, and being insulted by the xray techs, then finally being discharged with IBUPROFEN,yes, IBUPROFEN, and a 2hr drive home where I then started to go into shock and my parents took me to Covenant for proper care.....they have the nerve to say this was normal and to pay up. By the time I got to Covenant, it was like a dream. Even when the trauma surgeon told me their plans for my leg, I still thought that was better than what I just went through. Dr. Brand and the whole team he was with were phenomenal. I also want to say that the nurses and support staff that work on the rehab floor are abosolute saints.

I went there today because my doctor ordered me to and to my surprise I sat there waiting for hours after I told them that I am normally bed-bound and him in so much pain. For some reason now instead of getting you in a room, they first do all kinds of tests and go back and forth between testing and waiting in uncomfortable chairs. I have a hip that needs surgery and I told them I was in too much pain to do that and instead of putting me in a room I will shuffled back and forth between testing and the waiting room. I finally had to leave and probably should not have this I am very disappointed that they are changing the way they do things instead of getting you in a bed and then doing testing now they do it opposite they do testing while you are uncomfortable and Cold by the way. Did i. I'm really disappointed in St Mary's hospital. I used to like this Hospital they would get you in very quickly

My 83 year old father went in for a biopsy of a lesion on the lung. Not only did they miss the lesion but his lung collapsed. They had to put a chest tube in to reinflate lung. Then they ordered another biopsy. My dad is still in the hospital almost a week later. Not sure if the second biopsy was successful or not.Just yesterday I checked myself into the ER for severe pain in my back right side. They did NOT take a urine sample nor did they do any imaging. The Doctor told me it was muscular, nothing serious. They applied a pain patch on the right side of my back and sent me on my way... NOW I'M PRETTY SURE I'M HAVING A KIDNEY STONE ATTACK!!! This used to be my favorite hospital...

Been in waiting in er for six hours now. It's packed and they aren't taking off patients if seems. Most have just left with our treatment. I'm here because of chest pains and swelling of the legs. My Dr told me to come in today instead of his office because he thought it was that serious. 68 years old and waiting like this is not reasonable when looking to prevent a heart attack. Can't think of a worse experience after ang hospital thru out my life.Update when I got thru the initial intake the staff was way above avg compared to nearby hospitals. The Dr . Was great and genuinely concerned with my issues. He took the time to see me and to explain my situation so I could understand my condition and options . So in conclusion I would probably be willing to go thru it again

Our patients time is important to us. Our practice allows enough time with each patient so that we stay on schedule. However, due to emergency situations, it is possible for us to run behind schedule occasionally. We appreciate feedback and are committed to providing the best patient experience possible.

There is NO signage outside the hospital to tell you what entrance to use, and NO signage inside for the most basic things, like where Radiology is. No staff at either reception desk, and the 4 people we asked inside the hospital had no idea where it was either. Imaging/Radiology is one of the most utilized departments in a hospital. Why in the world dont you have signs?!

Good & BAD!I was on my way to Henry Ford in West Bloomfield for Covid testing. My bff suggested I go to St. Mary s she said I would like it there. She was right! Check-in was immediate and I was taken good care of. I brought my Mom back today due to Covid as well. Her doctor Dr. Ruggles was excellent! I wish she had an office so we could follow up with her. Overall I will be returning back to St. Mary s Trinity Livonia for future care.UPDATED: 6 Days LaterBrought my Mom in a little before noon. I even signed myself in to see if I could maybe check on MY ON COVID status. It had only been 6 days so I was told I would still show a positive reading so no test was given to me and I was dismissed.(Was I still supposed to get my blood pressure checked?)I went to my Mother s room She was told her blood pressure and other test were normal. While waiting for her to receive an IV due to her being dehydrated I asked for some crackers & juice for myself. (Almost 2pm) Since I have Covid as well and do not feel well. I noticed a little something with Nurse Casey. I ended up asking the ladies at discharge for the juice & crackers. Who did it with no problem.Nurse Casey made me feel like I was trying to get something for free. She even mentioned the vending machine was available. REALLY?Upon Nurse Casey s return (with no crackers or juice) I told her I have Covid as well and was just in St. Mary s ER as a patient on Tuesday, August 13th. She apologized but was it truly sincere? I asked her We are at St. Mary s right? My 2 previous experiences with the hospital on August 13th (myself), August 14th (Mom) were wonderful. I had nothing but good things to say. I even left a good review on Google. How I felt today NO patient nor visitor should feel this way. My go to hospital is Henry Ford West Bloomfield. I know sometimes there is a rotten apple in every bunch. I m not saying I will never return I just know who I don t want for my nurse.Be kind!
