Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

medical-detox iconExperiential Therapy

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

This place is a nightmare, the doctors spend most of the time talking and proving their worth, the staff is on their cell phones! The care is horrific, why doesn't the administration care, because they are raking in the money and don't care about patient care! It's a shame that seniors have to spend hours laying in a bed around a bunch of mentally sick people screaming!

The ER is the worse place that a human being could go or being taken by an ambulance to.Full of drunk and homelessness asking for more drugs. The ambulance took me there after an accident and I had to wait 5 hours on the waiting room. Nobody at the triage examined me . I was crying of pain and bleeding but the nurses were laughing plus the 8 people on the windows one NYPD officer and 2 securities didn't care about me and some people on the waiting room. Very rude, no empathy,. After 5 hours beging then for help a nurse who came from inside listened my family asking for help and said that my name wasn't on their list. Apparently someone from the windows took my name from the list.....Please don't go to this ER and ask the ambulance to don't take you or some family there.

The absolute worst hospital ever! I m not understanding why the just allow anyone in there to work . The staff is rude as can be. The air quality is awful! No privacy I knew the lady next to me needed some drug to sleep. I was in the ER with no separation meanwhile the person literally next to me coughing and regurgitating and hollering they had no linen the beds are made for short people. I m 5 3 and my feet were dangling off the bed. Mind you I was having leg pains. I am on blood thinners and asked for crackers and they didn t have anything to put on my stomach to take my pills but wanted to give me Tylenol after I told them I had nothing to eat. I m not sure why HPD is not in there giving violations with all that peeling paint on the walls. It s dirty and hot. The staff working around there coughing, they talk too much to each other! They even lied on my paperwork and said they took my temp and did not. They did not do anything about my concerns or my reason being there. Oh and dead roaches were in the lights! Like really I only gave them one star because I was able to leave alive. They deserve no stars and whomever governs this facility needs to be fired immediately! I highly do not recommend. Go there at your own risk but you have been warned. I wouldn t take a rat off the street there for help. Even they deserve better. Revamp or close down. Our neighborhood deserves BETTER!

This hospital is very good, I have always thanked this hospital because when I felt like I was going crazy with a headache, they treated me immediately, and my health has always improved in their hands! All the staff from Doctors to security are super friendly.

This hospital has to be the worsttttt hospital in New York. The wait is terribly long. They have patients with open wounds just walking around the hospital. There is no sense of discretion when it comes to discussing patient information. The doctors will start talking about what s going on with you in front of everyone.

Saint Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx has consistently been a disappointment. Each time I've interacted with the hospital, the experience has been far from acceptable. The nurses, social workers, and even the doctors seem more focused on collecting a paycheck than providing genuine care for their patients. The staff is generally rude and dismissive, with little regard for patient well-being or comfort. The lack of compassion and professionalism is truly alarming. It's hard to understand how this hospital continues to operate with such poor service. If possible, I strongly advise avoiding this hospital it's where people come to suffer, not heal.

Totally disappointed with the lack of response to calls made to 2nd floor north. My mom was admitted last night and no phone call received advising family of such. There are no chairs for visitors on her side of room and no phone to contact her directly installed in her room. Was told by home attendant who visited this morning that my mom s gown was dirty and she had to request they change her. Definitely disheartening to say the least. She is a patient in this hospital for over 40 years and hospital service when admitted is horrible.
