Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Unprofessional, disrespectful, selfish, staff and the people there just care about the money, not your health at all.

DO NOT WORK HERE!!! Turnover rates are extremely high for a reason. They hire new people every day, yet they don t last long and are always understaffed. The boss (Ben) is rude and does not care about his employees. Low paying with NO benefits. Consumers not properly taken care of. Business is family ran and they definitely prioritize their own people. Very unorganized and lacks ethics. The state of MD definitely needs to investigate this mental health crisis facility .

( speaking for the hyattsville location) I should ve known frm the interview process that this was gonna be a mess.. I was immediately hired after my interview and immediately went into full time work. I was trained by an administrative assistant who had no idea why she was training me . Didn t even have an orientation & was immediately giving medication to people I ve never met before. This is The Most terrible job I ve ever had. The most unorganized company. The most disrespectful group of people I ve ever worked with. I was fired for letting a supervisor know that she would not disrespect me . That supervisor is the owner s sister .. so you know why I'm not there no more .But anyways they Had people with no degrees working in positions that required a degree . No opportunity for growth inside the company nor growth within the career choice. Will not be certified in anything. & NO COMPANY BENEFITS . ( which is illegal bec I was working FULL TIME) UNDER PAYING ! Crisis counselors make a petty $18 while the treat coordinators (at every location) who are related to the owner makes $28-$32. THIS COMPANY HAD NO HR DEPARTMENT. But has over 50+ employees. THIS COMPANY PRACTICES ILLEGAL WORK. THIS COMPANY STEALS GOVERNMENT MONEY BY CLAIMING THEY ARE HELPING THE MENTALLY ILL AND THEY ARENT . You have a whole licensed social worker ( treatment coordinator) who complains more about her metal health (so she wont have to do her job) than the people actually admitted! She uses that as an excuse to not come to work .. soYou will be left to work alone , you will be confused on your job title. You will wonder why the work place is so toxic. Run far from this place ! You see on indeed they are always urgently hiring CAUSE THEY CANT KEEP NOONE BUT FAMILY AND FAMILY FRIENDS . They deserve to starve .I start my new job on Monday after the supervisor told me to my face that i was a terrible worker & that my opinion didn't matter in plus they have big fat rats there and the treatment coordinator supervisor manager did NOTHING ABOUT IT told the people who were currently admitted to handle it smh &-May 2024

Anyone who would give a review above a Minus 1 has mental problems! Where should I start? The daytime staff is incompetent at best. Jasmin is the most timid person i have ever met. She was so clueless that simple housing forms such as rehab for housing was far too difficult and it took 3 days and she deeded a sample form from her supervisor the infamous Iffy to provide one! How about Rimmi she claims that she doesn't like people at all! Glad you get paid to work with people. She had some kinda of break down and was taken away in an ambulance. She is rude and mean at best! Now on to the great leader IFFY! She told us we eat too much therefore no more food for the week! It was Tuesday! She is a belligerent bully! Who must recieve a bonus check to stay under budget. She is so stingy when it comes to feeding the consumers and being under budget! My favorite was the night we got a nice 10 inch plain pizza for 12 people for dinner! For lunch we could have 4 different sandwiches all requiring bread which we didn't have because she claims we eat to much! We didn't have a working can opener...she told me to open it with a chef knife!!! Anyway stingy with all the food. They would bring frozen meats such as ground turkey or beef or chicken legs at 5pm. After I would ask 3 or 4 or 5 time during the day! Thats just the food which I could ellaobrate how gross the house is and how not one staff members cares unless there is a planned inspection. She demands that use all of our food stamps to feed ourselves. No one works cleans anything except for me. I would mop twice a day! Clean the entire house period !. The house should be destroyed! Raw sewage leak under the kitchen! The staff does absolutely nothing to help you obtain housing! They simply discharged us and handed you a piece of paper with the address to a shelter in DC and said its so nice well its absolutely not! Absolutely pathetic Safe journey house should be called Slum hell house! Everyone should be fired! Do an inspection without notice and see the vary poor conditions! To take advantage of the state resources and pay any of them is unbelievable and to treat human beings like trash is completely unexceptable! How do I know all of this I experienced it for 10 horrible days!

Safe Journey is a good place to do your Internship for Social Work or Counseling. I would recommend this place for people who are doing their Masters in Social Work or Psychology!

Great place to work and gain valuable experience in the field of mental health/social services! I started here as an intern in 2015 and received an amazing in-depth training experience with regard to the ins and outs of the human services/social services field. I became an employee (crisis counselor) in 2020 and could not speak more highly about my experience. I was able to screen and refer clients, hold group sessions, conduct treatment planning, connect consumers to community resources, and work closely with doctors/psychiatrists to help consumers stabilize on their medication. The directors and supervisors are extremely supportive and knowledgeable. The clients/consumers are screened thoroughly and present with a wide range of presenting issues/crises. Each SJH location is safe and comfortable for both staff and consumers. I recently left to pursue a position more specifically tailored to my career but would not have been able to achieve this without my experience at Safe Journey House.
