At of 3 places in local area, Rutgers is in last place. The lunches are good. They provide stuff for breakfast too. Transportation is included. Sometimes got messed up if driver off or called out. Getting program late. My 1st day, my transport van was a no show. P.S. please don't play loud radio in vans. Not everyone has same music taste as driver & don't want noise early in morning or after long exhausting day. Quiet is welcome.Saw a lot more ankle bracelets & people not able to drive themselves then I've seen before. Not supposed to be any cell phones out in session, but people routinely on their phone the whole group session, sleeping, watching videos, loud music, & movies distracting others that want to be there.Male Dr. very good. Nikki best counselor. Dave brings good energy. Theresa & Antoine... ...proof you can actually work there with only a 4 yr degree & it shows...bizarre. Director talks to patients like he doesn't know his audience - sounds like no background in field. When they taught a class, no bueno.Huge building, tons of empty offices with names on the doors - where did everybody go? Like a ghost town. 2 counselors left while was there. A few others had just left before I arrived. They have rules, but there's no follow through. I would recommend Princeton House over Rutgers, heads & tails above.

Because most people are forced to be there so it was very chaotic, uncomfortable and distracting. I gave it 2 stars because one of the therapists there were good but he's since left

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient rehabs enable clients to receive a full continuum of care while continuing to live at home. They're often ideal for clients who are stepping down from inpatient care but some clients may prefer to transition into outpatient treatment immediately after completing detox. Many outpatient facilities also offer ambulatory medical detox for low-risk clients. Outpatient treatment generally includes psychotherapy and life skills training. Clients in opioid and/or alcohol recovery may also receive medication assisted treatment (MAT).
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term, intensive outpatient option designed for those with moderate to severe addictions who don't require 24-hour care. PHP treatment is often fully covered by insurance and provides structured programming (i.e. individual and group therapy). A typical partial hospitalization program can meet 3-5 days a week for a minimum of 20 hours, offering intensive treatment during the day while allowing you to return home after. PHP treatment duration can vary based on your progress but averages 90 days.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical means opposing. The premise of dialectical behavior therapy is to learn how two things that seem to be opposite can actually be true. You learn how to accept yourself while also making changes. The focus is on accepting your emotions and changing how you manage them.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Family therapy sessions address addiction related conflicts and other issues between members of the family unit. By strengthening communication and coping skills, as well as creating a nurturing environment, the family can help support their loved one's recovery.

Building life skills allows you to demolish negative patterns of behavior and build new, healthy patterns. By building new thought processes, coping strategies, and behaviors, you establish a solid foundation for recovery.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

The main types of creative arts therapy in New Jersey are dance, art, drama, and music. Through creative processes and active art making, this treatment provides a safe setting free of judgment for participants to explore and express their challenging thoughts and emotions.

Very disappointed with this place and do not recommend it. Receptionist is rude and nasty. I ask to speak with a supervisor she lied said not available. Making decisions that is not her call. My mom needs an appointment and every time i call they give me a new date to call. I was told to call today 03/30 the schedule will open up. Now she saying is full to call again in call in June. How you tell someone call 03/30 and then tell them is full my mom has to see a doctor needs her medicine refill.

Nice and clean place. Some of the counselors are genuinely caring. They take you to medical appointments which helped me a lot. Groups are great most of the time. Lunch served is ok and free!! There s one driver that always smile and make you feel comfortable, Susette. I m grateful to her and she helped me with anxiety. Security guard is great too. I would 100 percent recommend this program!!
