During intake they are very pleasant and the staff seem to really care. Of course there is always one bad apple, but that s anywhere. They need to communicate much better than they do with the parents to keep them updated with nexts steps. You really need to be an advocate for your child. Not just here, but anywhere they go. True, this is not camp or a resort, they have to get used to following instructions from others and take accountability for their actions. This isn t a punishment but it s better to learn what bothers them while in care, than to be home and parents have no idea how to handle the situation. There were a couple of situations we ran into but nothing we weren t able to figure out. Each child is different, and they all handle situations differently.Be extremely involved regarding the child s care. And read all the paperwork thoroughly when you re at intake.

I ve been to fourwinds 2 times, after having so many bad experiences I decided to go to Rockland. When I first got there they took so much blood work it was unbelievable, the Hospital I was transferred actually lied to me and told me if I let them have extra samples that rockland wouldn t take any from me. But of course they lied. The kids were pretty nice I guess, but some people had absolutely no chill at all, I was threatened on many occasions, even told to take my own life. And wasn t really given much support and attention. I felt so feral in this hospital. This place made me feel absolutely worse than I was when I left. I honestly wouldn t be surprised if I developed more mental illness from this place. Honestly the staff were very caring and supporting, people like, Georgie, Nixon, Markie, Zelma, Sandra, Alfonzo, Jace, John, Shaun, Adam brown, Mrs heather, Mrs Ambrose, were very helpful and supportive people during my treatment, lots of staff really do care and are happy to help you. But some staff aren t really the best. I miss all my friends from college D, and I hope everything is going well. But I don t recommend this hospital. It s a very low budget place, plus some of the staff are just straight up rude, incudling some kids (which they don t get any form of punishment or discipline for misbehaving and causing problems) so thank you for reading my review.

Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.

Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.

Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.

Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.

Clinical Services

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I do not recommend sending your child here. I went here in 2021. The staff were disgusting. I remember sitting near the nurses office and a staff calling me disgusting for touching my self harm. There was also an incident where a male staff member called me a dyke and the higher ups didn t do anything. The male staff proceeded to tell kids that were hospitalized that I reported him causing them to interrogate and threaten me. I still have ptsd from this place to this day. The food is horrible the staff mocks you it s overall a terrible place. Four winds is definitely a better option. There was many frightening fights with other children the staff kept them in the same unit. It was terrible. If I could give 0 stars I would.

If I could give zero stars, I would. This hospital treats patients like garbage, the lack of safety there was such an issue I was scared daily that a girl with homicidal ideation during psychosis episodes would try to kill me (it wasn t her fault, she was so sweet otherwise. The staff had no control over her crises)They tried to keep me for 8 months so I could get into a residential program, at that point I was sobbing every day begging for someone to let me go home. They had me on 9 medications that were so sedating. I would be exhausted by 5pm and they wouldn t anyone in their room until 8pm so I would literally sleep on the floor of the unit until they let me in my room.I was a non violent patient. I struggled with a severe eating disorder and suicidal ideation, I had been transferred to RCPC after being in a short term care facility for over 2 months. The staff threatened to restrain me during panic attacks or when I was sobbing on the phone to my family. Over the 2 months I was there, I talked to the psychiatrist 3 times. They yelled at me for requesting to speak to my therapist during school hours (it was august, my school was not in session). They said school was more important than talking to my therapist. On weight and vital days, the staff would see who lost the most weight in a week. They allowed other patients to read my journal while I was asleep.I have been in 5 different treatment centers and I would never recommend this place to anyone. I ve never been more traumatized in my life than when I was at this hospital.
