I am kind of Disappointed before you get signed into the program they try to recommend medicine how with out even seeing the doctor they try to enforce the medicine I talked to Meg on the phone and some other guy they need to be removed immediately my child was being picked on in the program and he defended himself she come recommending medicine so do people who defend themselves need to be medicated like come on for real now so meg informed me since I am not willing to allow them to give my child medicine he will be kicked out this is 3 weeks now with no outburst. Day 2 of the program called 3 times stating we strongly recommend medicine they do not see their patients to help them. they just trying to get a check and give all this unnecessary medicine that your child or anyone might not need Especially if they don't take medicine at home look at the reviews before you come like I also Mentioned before that my child was being bullied and I asked. Meg Can they pull the camera's? And Meg told me that she don't have to show me anything.let alone she does not have to inform if cameras is in the building it is wrong for this place telling lies to promote medicine please pick wisely I wanted help for my child not to dope him up on all these medicines that they not even willing take .Meg definitely should be removed if you can't answer a question correctly you shouldn't work at this point.i wish I had the opportunity to be given more options and the Opportunity to talk to someone that care instead of slapping medicine in my face

River Edge hospital is very disrespectful to me. They have not helped my brother out when I am in need. We try to get medication every month for him. They need a lab bloodwork done and we do what we have to. We get the bloodwork done but they do not ever give the OK for the medicine and my brother ends up running out of medication that s very unsafe for not just us but for everybody around us we need help we re asking for help we re doing what we re supposed to do, somebody needs to investigate the staff of this location. They re not working to potential.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) enable clients to receive high-level care while living at home. Clients may choose to enter IOP instead of enrolling in inpatient care post-detox or they may transition from an inpatient rehab into IOP. Intensive outpatient treatment involves multiple therapeutic sessions per week and includes a combination of psychotherapy and addiction and recovery education. Many programs also offer medication assisted treatment (MAT) and/or holistic therapies, such as acupuncture and massage.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
As a flexible option, a partial hospitalization program (PHP) is tailored for those who don't require 24-hour care. PHP treatment can include daily therapeutic sessions and services such as relapse prevention and medication management. Based on your needs, PHP treatment duration can average 90 days and require a minimum of 20 hours of commitment weekly. While a partial hospitalization program typically requires a commute, telehealth may be available. PHP treatment costs can vary but are often covered by most insurance.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Stayed here for 5 days. My mom was concerned when she looked up reviews but all in all my stay helped me and was relatively good for my mental health and health in general. I landed here after waiting at my local hospital for over a day trying to find placement. I arrived via medi-car late on a sunday and had my vitals checked and blood drawn. My intro to everything was a woman opening a door to a room and pointing at a bed saying that was mine. The following morning was very awkward because I had no clue what was going on. I thought we had to stay in our rooms so I was surprised when I found out there was a day room. From there I met with a therapist first I believe and then I met with my psychiatrist who was amazing. Dr. Sami ftw. I've seen a few people mention Dr Goldberg being awful and from what I heard from patients who have him as a doctor I have to agree. He was extremely relatable and very easy to talk to. I actually felt more at ease speaking to him than I did to my own wife. I can't thank him enough for what he did.I got started on numerous new medications to help my mental and physical health. They do have medical doctors as well as psych doctors and I got on medication for my high blood pressure that my primary kept saying he would address "later." The nurse here said I was probably well on my way to a heart attack with how high it already was. All in all while here I got my vitals checked probably 20 times. 5 blood draws to check for the effect of new meds.. and 2 ekg's.As far as the stay I was in 2s outh? East? I'm not sure actually. Room 259. The staff honestly for the most part were wonderful. Benjamin was a clear stand out as he really seemed to care about everyone. I saw other patients have very big problems with staff but a lot of these seemed to result from their releases being moved or something similar out of the control of the actual staff here. I find it weird to say but I "did my time" attending every group and trying to be as cooperative and helpful as I could. I did get "in trouble" two times here. I asked an employee if they had any books I could read and was given access to a room by the nurses station that had a book shelf. I picked a couple of books that I read through quickly so I turned those back in and went back for more and one of the books that was on there was a really heavy hard covered art book. I carried that book around for 2 days before a staff member noticed it and asked me why I had a weapon. I get that it could have been dangerous but literally I was told I could pick any books on the shelves. The second time I got on trouble was when I took the remote for the TV in the day room and shut off a movie that was going to auto play. A staff member told me I shouldn't have the remote without permission and I said I was just stopping the auto play and she said it would have been fine because it would have just played the next movie. But again the next movie was a graphic movie.Food. besides breakfast.. was actually decent most of the time. I think I only liked one breakfast and it was bagels and cream cheese. Worst breakfast was grits which was given to us lukewarm. I got my blood drawn that day on so I knew the trays had been sitting since before 715 when I got my blood draw because I had seen them. Every meal is served with milk. Breakfasts included some sort of fruit and usually a juice. Lunches were completely reasonable. Dinner was obviously the highlight and we were given a choice. The only lousy dinner I ate was "meat loaf" which turned out essentially be Salisbury steak.I felt in danger one time my entire stay and it was after another patient had gotten. Bad news on the phone. He was in the day room afterwards staring at people. He looked at me for several minutes but I just kept looking down and he wound up moving to the next person and from there was told to go to his room. I reported it to staff the next day ..night staff members were out of the room. This place helped me immensely.

Been a patient and my husband to at River Edge Hospital in Forest Park for about 3 years now. Everytime I call the hospital main line the girls working the front desk are very hepful and professional and Mariah on the evening shift is super knowledgeable and courteous and help rresolve any issues that I may have. Mariah has a great personality and runs the front desk and switchboard like she s been doing it for ten plus years. I appreciate not being railroaded or transferred to lines answered by voicemail of whomever I may be looking for. Thanks to the girls at the front desk for their help. Great job!Carlos M.Stickney,Il

I was expecting more from a mental health hospital that advocates for people like me. I called the front desk and found myself speaking with a woman named Zulema (I m sorry, I spelled that wrong). She was the meanest receptionist I have ever spoken with. I told her I would love to come in and speak to someone as I was feeling very suicidal. She told me It was very busy. I told her I didn t mind waiting as long as it took. She told me they didn t have time for me to walk in and proceeded to tell me that maybe I should take more of my anti-depressant medication then she hung up our call. When I called back and spoke with her again, I asked her If I could speak to someone else, as I m having a really difficult time right now.(I think this made her more upset with me). I started crying and she told me to call another hospital. I told her I didn t to be an inconvenience and she replied and said I should fix my depression so I won t be an inconvenience.I didn t meant to bother her I m only 15
