About River Point Behavioral Health

River Point Behavioral Health Center is a treatment center located in Jacksonville, Florida. Here they specialize in treating mental health conditions, co-occurring disorders and addiction. This facility offers services to adults, children and adolescents and offers special treatment to veterans. The levels of care offered here are medical detox, residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient treatment. While receiving treatment at this facility they will offer medical compliance and education, relapse prevention, and recovery strategies you can utilize on your journey of healing. This facility accepts Medicaid and Medicare insurance.

Taking the first step to this ongoing journey is being able to accept that you need help and are open to allowing experts to help you move forward. It’s uncomfortable and understandable to be scared going into a facility and being unsure of what to expect. Medical detox at this facility will help bring you into stabilization and tend to medical concerns you may have been experiencing such as withdrawals and/or cravings among other symptoms that can be too dangerous to experience without medical supervision. The medical staff will monitor you around the clock and provide you with the appropriate care you need.

During inpatient treatment, topics such as reducing the chances of relapse, coping skills, and medication management will be part of your treatment. When seeking inpatient care, you will still have 24-hour medical supervision from the nurses and they will help you get acclimated with building structure and day to day routine.

They will introduce you to alternative routes for your healing journey so you have more ways to manage and deal with your emotions and stress without going back to unhealthy thinking and harmful behaviors. Medication management and education helps you get a thorough and deep understanding of the medication you may be prescribed to reduce misuse and ensure your safety.

Relapse prevention helps you become more knowledgeable and equipped for circumstances that can be out of your control so you know what to do. This helps you better understand the harmful impact of substance abuse and the threat it has on you as well as the life you build and your loved ones. Learning how to handle if or when you feel triggered and strengthening your recovery can also be some of the topics discussed.

I was here involuntarily and it sucked. The beds are not mattresses they are pads and the pillows are insanely thin. In order to use your own stuff you need a doctor s note. They will punish you for showing emotions such as crying and will hold everything you do and say against you. I don t understand why having panic attacks or crying deserves punishment in a PSYCHIATRIC FACILITY. The staff should be caring and compassionate but instead they are cold. You ll be waken up at 6 AM to do vitals and it s incredibly hard to sleep at night because the overnight staff are not quiet when patients are supposed to be sleeping. They will prevent you from being in your room all day long. They even do shady stuff like electric shock therapy and it negatively affects the patients there. Things such as hugging are against the rules. They will keep you as long as possible to milk your insurance. Dr. Aurora is emotionless and very rude. Overall, the best part of this place is the fellow patients as well as the case worker Hannah.

Patients are antagonized and neglected. Some patients go days without showering without any staff intervention. You will not receive individual help. You will be locked in a room for 16 hours a day with group therapy sessions that, again, are not tailored to your individual needs. Patients able to attempt self-injury under staff supervision, went completely unnoticed

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

EMDR is a therapeutic modality originally developed to help process trauma. In an EMDR session, a patient is prompted to undergo eye movements that mimic those of REM sleep. This is accomplished by watching a therapist's finger move back and forth across, or following a bar of light. The goal is repetitive sets of eye movements that help the brain reprocess memory, which can significantly reduce the intensity of remembered traumatic incidents. Associated memories can heal simultaneously, leaving patients significantly calmer, more stable, and more emotionally relaxed.

0000000- This place is horrible. My daughter tried to commit suicide and went there for help. Spent a week in patient and came out distraught. She was assaulted and is now struggling with being scared and some other things. This is not a place for mental health. It s like kid jail. Not all children dealing with mental health are angry. DO NOT send your child there!

The Professional Medical service has 100% excellence. Food service has 0... it sucks! They give you expired food. That is an abuse. Also, they kept my intern's clothes... they only gave me part of them. They gave it to others or stole it... it's disrespectful!!!

The word has really gone downhill. What used to be a very helpful program as quickly become a breeding ground for unhelpful activity and extremely problematic staff. Staff are negligent not because they want to be but instead because they are overworked. I was on the unit for the minors. They would often bring too many kids in that they did not have any form of room for. Due to this these kids would have to sleep in an open room on the adults unit. Leading to many very odd creepy stories from the patients on that unit. Such as an older lady with dementia stealing many of the kids socks. Thankfully since I was 12 I was never one of the people who had to sleep on that unit but some of the stories that I heard were irresponsible. However that's my only real complaint from that time in that facility, other than that it was a pretty decent facility with a lot of therapeutic help. When I returned at 15 however it was not. They still have the group therapies but they were short and almost always just worksheets. Staff for no longer trying, the kids were constantly fighting because the staff wouldn't help break them up, fire alarms are constantly going off because they we're never adequately fixed. Every time that you took too hot of a shower at the alarm would go off. Beds were often not cleaned before a new kid came in. They did not do adequate checks and sometimes kids would bring in things like razor blades.Overall until they fix up their act, it's been a year and I'm only seeing more and more issues with it such as the court case against them putting a five-year-old boy in there, until they fix their act do not send your children here. This facility has a lot of potential but I believe the new people running it are causing a lot of issues due to their negligence.

I just got out of here yesterday and by God I will never be there again. Not only was i meant to be in wolfson and they threw me in there instead (which may i ad the ER i was in transferred me their and neither them nor river point called my parents to let me know they were moving me at all) ,but they gave my mom a completely different time to pick me up then tried to change it when hours had gone by to make it look like it was her fault. The techs were rude and quick to argue with patients and as someone whos mother works in hospitals like this they are incredibly unprofessional, telling us how they get to go home and sleep in a real bed while were stuck in there. You can ask questions in the nicest way possible and they ll snap at you if they don t flat out ignore you. They seem to ignore our triggers, the whole short time i was there the techs were yelling and screaming just as bad as the patients were, cussing and carrying on. My mother was absolutely livid the way they handled me and things in general there. Do not send people you claim to care for here if you can help it
