About River Point Behavioral Health

River Point Behavioral Health Center is a treatment center located in Jacksonville, Florida. Here they specialize in treating mental health conditions, co-occurring disorders and addiction. This facility offers services to adults, children and adolescents and offers special treatment to veterans. The levels of care offered here are medical detox, residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient treatment. While receiving treatment at this facility they will offer medical compliance and education, relapse prevention, and recovery strategies you can utilize on your journey of healing. This facility accepts Medicaid and Medicare insurance.

Taking the first step to this ongoing journey is being able to accept that you need help and are open to allowing experts to help you move forward. It’s uncomfortable and understandable to be scared going into a facility and being unsure of what to expect. Medical detox at this facility will help bring you into stabilization and tend to medical concerns you may have been experiencing such as withdrawals and/or cravings among other symptoms that can be too dangerous to experience without medical supervision. The medical staff will monitor you around the clock and provide you with the appropriate care you need.

During inpatient treatment, topics such as reducing the chances of relapse, coping skills, and medication management will be part of your treatment. When seeking inpatient care, you will still have 24-hour medical supervision from the nurses and they will help you get acclimated with building structure and day to day routine.

They will introduce you to alternative routes for your healing journey so you have more ways to manage and deal with your emotions and stress without going back to unhealthy thinking and harmful behaviors. Medication management and education helps you get a thorough and deep understanding of the medication you may be prescribed to reduce misuse and ensure your safety.

Relapse prevention helps you become more knowledgeable and equipped for circumstances that can be out of your control so you know what to do. This helps you better understand the harmful impact of substance abuse and the threat it has on you as well as the life you build and your loved ones. Learning how to handle if or when you feel triggered and strengthening your recovery can also be some of the topics discussed.

I would put a 0 if that was available. These people are rude, crude, and ignorant. They would not even let me tell my husband merry Christmas. I am his health advocate and have power of attorney. They are sure not there to help anyone. It's all about the money and control.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

EMDR is a therapeutic modality originally developed to help process trauma. In an EMDR session, a patient is prompted to undergo eye movements that mimic those of REM sleep. This is accomplished by watching a therapist's finger move back and forth across, or following a bar of light. The goal is repetitive sets of eye movements that help the brain reprocess memory, which can significantly reduce the intensity of remembered traumatic incidents. Associated memories can heal simultaneously, leaving patients significantly calmer, more stable, and more emotionally relaxed.

The absolute worst billing department I ve ever dealt with. The incredulous idiots in charge don t have a clue. They reported me to a collection agency before the bill was even due. Now, after paying off the $1097 I owed them in September, I just received a bill with the same final payment amount of $1097. However, it states that I somehow still owe them $120. I ve got a feeling I m going to randomly hear from this company for the next few years asking for more money whenever they feel they need to pad out their books. This place is a racket. Please avoid if at all possible.

My 10 year old Son is currently being held in this facility On an involuntary discharge. He is on day four almost 5 of being there he witnessed a sexual assault While being in there, he did actively report it, but nothing was documented on it. The supervisor didn't even know about it, and they stated that he was acting aggressively and erratic however, when I asked the woman to describe him to me, she did not even describe my child in the beginning, he was being called a Different child's name. I put in a petition for his release that's when they said that he spoke with two different doctors, but he had only spoken to one and they denied his realease. This institution has been very careless because my son said empty words that he did not mean he is not medicated and does not show any signs of aggression when he is at home. Again, I wanna reiterate that he is only 10. The doctor said that he was a harm to others and himself, but don't show any violence at our home when I explain this to the doctor. He told me I would have to show him proof as I told him I only have my words to tell you. There is so much more to this and everyone in this facility has denied me the right to Even switch it to voluntary. After my son had witnessed the sexual assault with the other boys sticking His you know what in the other kids face while he was sleeping I immediately got on the phone with the doctor to request discharge again. The doctor denied me and said no he is in treatment however he just had my son experience a traumatic event that he has never had to experience in his life. It's really sad that these people are not helping get my child out Who most definitely doesn't meet their Criteria. They also refused for me to be able to see any of the medical treatment plan unless he is released.

Riverpoint Behavioral s inpatient facility appears to face significant challenges with staffing, which has resulted in a strained and unwelcoming environment. Staff shortages seem to contribute to frequent errors in medication orders, with discrepancies between prescribed treatments and patients discussions with their doctors. Nurses often exhibited a lack of advocacy for patients, creating barriers to effective treatment. Additionally, technicians made comments were highly inappropriate and unprofessional.Communication with family members was also a concern, as staff frequently failed relay messages about incoming calls. The facility s strong religious emphasis was not accommodating or respectful toward individuals with differing beliefs.Furthermore, inaccuracies in group therapy schedules led to multiple cancellations, leaving patients with excessive idle time, which hindered the therapeutic process. Overall, the environment felt more restrictive and punitive, resembling a detention facility rather than a supportive psychiatric hospital.

This place was like I was in jail! I lost my son 14 months ago and relapsed I used a bad choice of words and got Baker acted and instead of receiving help I was treated like crap by the techs the techs led the groups and one chose to leave the sports channel blasting while running group. Reprimanded for standing up for ourselves. Issued cups of water and locked out of rooms from 7 to 7 in day room with 16 other people. How is this therapeutic,?!

my name is Emily Lemond Wednesday of last week. I checked myself into what I thought was a rehab facility and everyone was telling me no it s not a rehab facility, but for some reason, God pointed me and told me Emily you got this and everyone was telling me no, but in my head, God was telling me to go. I was scared of the unknown because I had an addiction problem. I lost a lot of people in my life due to that addiction and what I ve learned from being in that place, not everything is in your control doesn t matter how hard you fight for yourself to want to leave that place or whatever is going on in that head of yours, but at the end of the day this place taught me a lot about myself. It made me realize I need to change a lot of things about myself and in those times it makes you realize who s really there for you or not and I can say some of the staff there has a lot of qualities they need to work on themselves but the other half are there to help you and support you but mainly that program is to teach you how to be a better person how to be a stronger better version of yourself
