About Recovery Centers of America at Indianapolis

Recovery Centers of America at Indianapolis is a comprehensive addiction treatment facility for adults in Indianapolis, Indiana. They offer services for every point in your recovery journey, including detox, medication assisted treatment, residential treatment and outpatient treatment. There’s also an active alumni association you can join to maintain your progress once you finish your program. They accept most major insurance providers and offer flexible payment plans.

Their services help you explore the root of your substance abuse so you can understand more about what drives you to use drugs or alcohol. They use evidence based treatments including individual, group, and family therapy, spiritual counseling, peer support groups, and 12 Step programming. If you’re in the outpatient program, you can attend your sessions in person or online. Their inpatient program includes round the clock care and monitoring services.

One thing that I found interesting about this facility is their robust aftercare program. They’ll make sure your path to recovery doesn’t end when you leave their facility. They’ll link you to recovery groups, local sober events and community service opportunities to keep you connected. Program alumni also lead a popular recovery focused podcast.

Former clients call this facility life changing. They say the environment is welcoming and safe and note that the alumni group is a great way to plug into the community.

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements. Linden Oaks' Residential Stay Program offers additional support for those who may benefit from a structured living environment. A patient's stay may vary from a few days to 30 days ago. The program includes group, family and individual counseling.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient programs are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs. The Intensive Outpatient Program gives patients the chance to participate in a structured treatment plan part-time while they transition back to home and work or other responsibilities. This program provides half-day treatment (Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9:15 am to 12:30 pm).

aftercare iconAftercare

Clients receiving support in a rehab aftercare program have completed inpatient care and may also be preparing to exit formal outpatient care. Outpatient services are typically categorized as rehab aftercare, but these services often continue beyond the cessation of formal treatment. Rehab aftercare services are designed to promote life-long recovery through comprehensive, wraparound care, which may include medical, mental health, and social services. These programs are usually created in collaboration with the client's case manager and care team.

12-step icon12-Step

12 step programs foster participants' long-term sobriety through personal growth rooted in spiritual principles, though religious affiliation is not mandatory. Most 12 step meetings are non-denominational but are based on the belief in a higher power. Participants learn to understand and address the causes of their addiction, accept responsibility for their choices, and relinquish control for that which cannot be changed. Regular group meetings and mentoring by a self-selected sponsor are required.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

When families plan a drug intervention in Indiana, the goal is to create self-awareness in their loved one, so they acknowledge the need for treatment and get help. A professional interventionist can work with the individual's family members to organize this intervention and provide direction for follow-up. During the intervention, loved ones share how the individual's substance abuse has affected them, and the interventionist adds a clinical perspective on how treatment can help the situation.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

When removing addictive substances from your body under the care of licensed medical professionals, the process is called medically assisted detox. Once you've become physically dependent on substances like alcohol, opioids, or benzodiazepines, quitting can be uncomfortable or even dangerous. To minimize risks to your health and overall discomfort, a team of medical professionals monitors you 24/7 and provides medications if necessary (like Suboxone or methadone) to ease potential symptoms of withdrawal.

Well, first of all I did my homework because I really wanted help and wanted to be clean! This place advertises fishing, outdoor activities, time in the gym, which is all fraudulent advertising! The only nature time we had was a 10 minute cigarette break every few hours! The classes consisted of the same counselor reading packets for 5 hours a day or watching a movie. I seen my therapist 1 time and repeatedly asked for a family session and was repeatedly told he didn t know how to do that but he would find out! It never happened of course! I must say the icing on the cake was when I went to leave, they had lost $160.00 worth of my contacts along with some other small things and no one seamed to care! I was basically told get over it ! My insurance had just paid for those, so of course they are not going to cover them again! I am not the first one to have stuff missing! I was told by 2 employees it happens a lot! Obviously someone who works there is still practicing addict behavior and stealing residents stuff! They have all these cameras, you would think they would take the time to see who is stealing from people at the lowest point of their lives and do something about it! There were a few employees who actually cared about us and tried their hardest to do what they could! Mark (he s a supervisor), Richard and Brooke ( their are techs) and Gladys and Nick ( they work medical). However, even tho the program itself was a joke, I got ALOT from the other residents there! That was my therapy, we helped each other out! My brother went to rehab at the same time same place. I m happy to say we are both still clean and doing everything possible to stay that way. However, I wish I could say it was because of RCA, but that would be a lie and in recovery . It s all about honesty! Thanks for your time, Jama Bales

Programming was horrible, had a therapist tell me he didnt want to be there so he showed a movie instead. They make it sound like a spa, yet can't even provide activities to keep you busy. The only good thing was the staff. Mark, Billy, Kadijah, and Nick are amazing!

It all starts with this place. One minute your struggling and your life is falling apart, the next you look back at them days and grow stronger and stronger like you've never imagined all because of the day you stepped in those doors. These people are intelligent and caring and couldn't thank them enough for helping me when I needed it. I have the strength because I've made the connection to people I relate to. They will forever be a part of my life, and I know they'll always be there for me when I need them.

I used Google reviews when I was choosing a place for treatment, and if you are, too, here are some things you should really know before going to this RCA location.Positives: facilities are up to date and clean. The food is also generally good compared to other places. They have a beautiful space outback with amenities, but more on that later...Negatives: the biggest issue facing this RCA location is staffing, or lack there of. At any given time, there were only 2-3 staff members on site for 60+ patients. Multiple staff put in their 2 week's notice while I was there, and I don't blame them! Most are working double (16 hour) shifts days in a row.Because of the staffing issues, some classes/groups never had a leader or were outright canceled. I'm guessing this also has an impact on outdoor activities. There was literally no time to use the amenities they advertise. You are only given 2 10-minute phone calls a week, which often get canceled for no reason. You also have to sign up an entire week beforehand for the calls. No outside food is allowed in the facility, and with the exception of a small 10pm "snack", any other snacks must be purchased from a vending machine using pre-purchased wrist bands.Cigarettes and vapes are confiscated after every break and held in a locked closet. This, in turn, causes your 15 minute breaks to be shortened to 7 minutes or less with the amount of time it takes for the staff to give out your smokes/vapes.Like any place, there are staff that really care (Tyrone was great), but also a lot of staff that were just there for a paycheck. I'm sure they're burnt out, too. Rules seemed to change on the daily. Your wrist band is scanned 50+ times/day, and with 1-2 staff members scanning 60+ people that many times - well, you do the math. All these issues were brought up to staff and management on MULTIPLE occasions, but nothing was ever changed due to the "board of directors", who have obviously never been to a treatment center before. To be honest, it felt like a minimum security prison. As I said on more than one occasion to staff, you treat us like prisoners, we're going to act and think like prisoners. We all found ways to skirt the rules (since there isn't enough staff to keep an eye on everyone anyway). This location could EASILY be a better treatment center with simple changes that are the norm for most other treatment centers. But honestly, it doesn't seem they're willing to change. I don't see them staying open much longer.

RCA is trying to double dip me on my bill. Told me I d have to pay $2500. 18 months later after paying that they want $3500 more. Even after telling me I had a zero balance. Looks like they re pulling similar scams to the RCCA out in Mass. Can t get anyone to call me back and no one answers the phone.

One of the worst experiences I have ever done. I'm a 70-year-old Marine Corp veteran that was treated so badly and with no respect at all. I went for pain meds addiction. I did have my wits about me. With end 2 days I was I was so out of it. I was sent to the emergency room because I could not breath. I had to walk back to the facility after I was released. The staff out the hospital call RCA 5 times to come get me. That was a mistake going back. By the 3rd day i was pissing my pants and could not read anything because everything was blurry. I could not even operate a TV remote without help. No one seem to care. I was taking 5 pills 3 times a day, They would not tell what they were for. I decided to leave on my own. They force me to walk down the stairs and threaten me with all kinds of things. I broke my back 6 years ago and that was why I was on pain meds. I was forced to leave without all my belonging's. My phone, my wallet, my laptop, my blood pressure meds. I was told I could have them after 24 hrs. I was not allowed to use the elevator. These people flat out lie to you. They all are paid lyre's from the top to the cleaning people. PLEASE seek help from someplace else. I will not mention names here, but my lawyer and doctor has them.

Pest hole. Unsafe environment and they will tell half-truths to imprison you. Everyday people were running out the door and being chased by staff - aka "code purple". The police visit as regularly to shake down the facility and drug use is acceptable inside and around the facility as they would rather risk the sobriety of the community than lose their patient count-$$$. I left in WORSE condition than I arrived in. If I could take a star from the reviews instead of giving one, that would be absolutely appropriate.

This is the fourth rehab facility I have been to and it was the worst experience. The nursing staff should almost all be fired. Michelle and Harvetta in particular, both were extremely rude to patients (all patients), always spoke in a curt manner to everyone. Halfway through my stay there they changed the phone policy on a Friday after administration had gone home, so that phone calls were a privilege, if you hadn't signed up for a 10 minute phone call the day before (which wasn't announced) you couldn't make a call, calls had to be monitored by a staff member (no privacy), and you couldn't make a phone call two days in a row, only every other day. The following week the phone policy changed twice and when I left these were the stipulations: you had to attend 80% of groups for the past three days, could only call those people who you had originally put on your contact list upon admission (given most of the patients were drunk or high at the time of admission), you could only sign up for two 10 minute phone slots per week, you couldn't be a flight risk (meaning if they suspected you were planning on leaving treatment early, or had done so and came back), there were no phone calls on Saturday at all, and if you had not been a 'trouble maker' meaning at staff discretion you could be denied a phone call based on behavior. Also, they will hold you hostage. When I tried to leave after medication mix ups and being treated rudely by staff on day three, I was told that sure I could AMA, but I couldn't take anything I brought with me, meaning my clothes, personal care items, ID, debit card, or car keys for at least 24 hours. They also wouldn't let you make a call to arrange transportation if you left AMA, meaning you could leave, but you would literally be homeless and with no money, ID, or keys. All their efforts to keep you from contacting the outside world and keeping you hostage were clearly meant to keep you there so they could bill insurance for your stay, for example - is it therapeutic to force you to be homeless for a day before you can arrange home? To add to this, most of their clients were from hours away, so they knew nobody in Indy they could even call or walk to for help, I was from three hours away and they had me over a barrel. Oh, and if you leave AMA, even though they transported you there, they would not pay for or even help you arrange a way home.
