Worst emergency room ever, I write this at almost 4 hours with my 12 year old sitting in pain due to chest pain and throat issues. I can t even get Tylenol to soothe her pain while we wait. I would rather drive an hour than deal with being here. Never again

Disappointed with Hospital ER department's negligent behavior. Its one of worst place to visit. I was there with my 2 year old baby who was having 103 fever. and they left us in room for 3 hours. nobody came to give even a Tylenol to baby for fever. Nurses and other staff was busy watching tictoks and videos on their phone at nursing station. We had to leave without treatment. the hospital's staff behavior not only wasted our time but also put my baby's health at risk.

I finally have a diagnosis from another hospital. I had Biliary Dyskinesia, but the time I came here for help and testing all they did was blame me for my symptoms about marijuana when it was the only thing that worked for my illness. They would just give me fluids and send me home. They waited until I was falling asleep on Benadryl before sending me home. Turns out I needed my gallbladder removed. No testing. Nothing was done. Now that it s gone I no longer need marijuana and it s a shame Raritan Bay could ve been the hospital to help but they lost that opportunity making me feel dismissed just because I m young. Only good thing about this place was my nurse, Princess, in the pediatric wing. She was super attentive and sweet. I suffered for a YEAR, dropping weight. 40 pounds lost in two months. Why do doctors not recommend the THC nausea medication without the high? They don t want to help you. They want to send you home so you can pay a 1k hospital bill and keep coming back. Band-Aid solutions.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in New Jersey is the process of addressing the complex issues involved with addiction. Challenges are identified and addressed through individual and group counseling. Participants learn how to manage these issues without the use of substances.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

I was in for car accident injuries. I specifically told the staff multiple times what was hurting and where, which was the right side of my ribs due to the center console in the car hitting me on impact, as well as my left inner knee which had been scraped by the air bag deploying and in pain. They ordered a CT scan for my chest, instead of the areas that were actually under concern. There was no inspection of, or tests ordered for my knee, nor was it cleaned or bandaged. The nurses behind the desk were loud, making jokes, and laughing at times. At other times they were arguing or not listening to one another.Upon arrival, barely being able to stand, the security guard took his time searching my bags, while I was visibly in pain, had no where to sit, and was not offered a place to sit. Instead I was made to rest my body up against the wall, hunching over in pain. I didn't feel as though any of the staff at this hospital were taking the situation or their jobs seriously in the slightest bit. This is not the first bad experience I have had at this location and everyone I have spoken to concerning this situation has had similar issues EVERY time they've visited.I genuinely hope that the administrators of this hospital location will consider these issues and how they can have serious legal repercussions made against them, and how this experience causes more trauma to the people under the hospitals care.Something needs to be done about this, as this type of behavior, lack of care and hospitality is incredibly unacceptable for ANY hospital no matter the time, location, or people being treated! I am extremely dissatisfied and disappointed with the treatment received and the experience I had.

The WORST experience in my life in this joke of an ER CRISIS CENTER for my child. I cannot understand how this hospital is still open when it can't do anything that a hospital should do. Seeing Patients in a MH Crisis in a reasonable amout of time...NOT after 6+ and then 12+ hours!! Treatment...You'd have to see a patient to treat them. (Its now 5:45am and the Social Worker NEVER came back to tell me if my son was staying overnight. So, I never left.) Nurses working?...nah,(after almost 12 hours of waiting for my son to get treatment, he was finally sleeping soundly and I FINALLY started to fall asleep (sitting up, of course) but, NO, I had to listen to 2 nurses sit down the hall from each other and GOSSIP; LOUDLY. I had to ask them to stop being so loud because they woke my son up. For a hospital tgat had me waiting here for the passed 12 hours, they sure as hell have A LOT of free time to gossip!! I am not writing out ALL the other unacceptable experiences I have had thus far because, I ALREADY KNOW that, as long as they get paid, the Management/Owners couldn't give a care how their nurses and other staff are mistreating patients.

Very disappointed in the overall care at this facility s ER. The nurses in the ER were extremely unprofessional! They were laughing, and not caring at all while other patients were calling like really unprofessional. I came in for ingrown toenails and I was like so much pain that doctors told me that they couldn t remove that I had to go somewhere else why didn t they told me that when I was waiting a whole hour in the waiting room this is really ridiculous and I will never come back to this hospital ever again.

I took my son for a wound on his chin, according to the Dr he didn't need sutures but he did need glue to join the edges, she glued the edges together without cleaning (because the nurse had already used gauze exactly 1 hour before). Total couldn't see the wound well because the space where he treated us was without light. Terrible place in terms of hygiene to go with wounds.

When I questioned Dr. Mike's decision to replace my Strattera with Lexapro, he told me that both meds are in the same drug class. A nurse I had later that night agreed with his statement about the meds. I told him I didn't want him to adjust my meds because they work well for me (and he either lied to me or sadly, doesn't know any better). He told me the only use of me being in the mental hospital was to change my meds. He also refused to tell me how the therapeutic groups helped the patients in the hospital or why these groups were run every day. After only observing me for 2 days, he told me he thinks I was misdiagnosed with ADHD. Mind you, I was diagnosed with ADHD by an in-home therapist I had for years. He also told me IOPs provide the same services as a mental hospital. I told him I found myself in an emergency situation and IOPs aren't equipped to help me in that situation. I was also unable to go to an IOP program beforehand because I had to work during the summer, as lifeguarding is the easiest job for me to hold due to my disabilities. I would have missed the entire summer season if I went to an IOP program, but I only missed out on 3 days from being admitted into the hospital. I told him I was planning on going to an IOP after the summer. He said I could have just worked less during the summer, but it's too much for me to work and to be in an IOP at the same time due to the responsibilities I have at home. If I hadn't been admitted to the hospital, I could have caused some serious harm to myself. If you can't properly defend your wrong answers, why can't you come to the conclusion they are wrong? The technicians, nurses, and social workers who ran the therapeutic groups were responsible for preventing a mental health readmission, not him. My psychiatrist told me his credibility should be reevaluated. He doesn't care about his patients, but he certainly cares about his bank account. I don't trust him, nor this facility as a whole to keep me safe from suicidal ideation. I don't recommend sending your loved ones to this institution.

DO NOT COME HERE! My husband suffered a mini stroke July 2022 morning time, he was admitted to emergency dept, they kept him overnight for observation. What was observation for? What happened to treatment/operation? I wish I knew back then everything that what I know now about strokes. I would of told them get that IV out him. I'm driving him to JFK, so next morning he suffered a bigger 2nd stroke but I was not present. When I get back to hospital late morning, my husband is in bad shape. No call, no nothing to even let me know what had happened to him. Nurse did nothing until I went off on her, she notified rapid response team that gathered outside of his room out in hall, then one doctor or quack comes into his room to tell me that they're going to transfer my husband to JFK hospital because they have a stroke unit there and Amboy doesn't. Waited 3-4 hours for transportation to show up before he was transferred to JFK. They should of transferred him same day when he had mini stroke. Come to find out he had 100% carotid artery blockage. JFK saved his life. After 2 years my husband still has left side weakness and is permanently disabled thanks to Amboy hospital wasting time instead of quickly doing what had to be done. Horrible hospital, they'll let you die here, they don't care about nobody.
