My experience was absolutely horrific and I am disgusted and disappointed in the lack of professionalism that I witnessed. I came in with abdominal pain and I also told the EMT I was having a manic episode because I am bipolar 2 and I was experiencing the symptoms of one as well. I have an official diagnosis I made them aware of my diagnosis but they did not listen to me and downplayed my condition from the moment I arrived. I was treated with no respect I made it clear I was not having suicidal or homicidal thoughts and they still made me take off my clothes and took my phone away anyway. The doctor asked me irrelevant questions about my past history of sexual trauma and my cannabis use. One of the CNAs they sent to watch me ignored me twice when I asked to go to the bathroom because she had her airpods in and was on her phone taking selfies!!!I gave them my healthcare providers information and they said they reached out to them but received no answer I didn t even have the opportunity to reach out on my own because they had my phone. They completely ignored me when I continued to mention my condition as if I was exaggerating or lying about it. My provider also let me know that they did not receive a single phone call from the facility whatsoever!!! They listed depression as one of the reasons for my visit when I never once mentioned the word depression. When I asked the nurse if I could have assistance in arranging transportation for my discharge she said she would let me know. When the discharge nurse came to speak to me she said that they don t do that and that I could wait in the lobby to arrange it myself even though I made the other nurse aware I had no means of transportation whatsoever. I was discharged and forced to walk to my home across town after having a manic bipolar episode!!! Not a single person went after me to see if I was ok! I was outside hysterically crying trying to figure out what to do and an EMT walked pass me as if I was invisible!!!! I have never experienced such poor healthcare in my life!!! An experience that I feel was racially motivated!! As a black woman I will be taking legal action and reaching out to the NAACP regarding this ordeal that has left me traumatized and emotionally scarred.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in New Jersey is the process of addressing the complex issues involved with addiction. Challenges are identified and addressed through individual and group counseling. Participants learn how to manage these issues without the use of substances.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

I have been here on Different occasions 1 time when my 1 year old split her forehead on a wooden sofa my family rushed her to the nearest hospital which was this hospital they had us during in the waiting room in ER for 2 hrs and when I arrived I asked triage nurses how much longer they said IDK at that point enough was enough I had to drive all the way to St.Peters Hospital in New Brunswick NJ where she was treated in a matter of seconds Then another time I went to this hospital because I felt like I was going to pass out I barely couldn't walk I waited in ER for about 1 to 2 hrs finally was put in a bed for another 45 min then they took multiple testing and they said that the result came back with all negative results and a POSSIBILITY for UTI even after explaining to them that I was just released from another hospital several weeks ago for the same symptoms and since I knew it wasn't no UTI I went to RWJ ER for 2nd opinion where they had to re do all testing the results came back as having septic even if you feel like your dying I would rather take the chance of going to RWJ or St.Peters before I EVER go back to this hospital ever again this hospital is more for the Mentally I'll and those who have addiction that's what this hospital is specialized in its been this way for over 40 years sadly nothing has changed

The nursing staff at Day Stay are awesome. Their team leader Debra Christain is highly professional. She is caring and shows concern for her patients. Her staff are the same. They made it quick and easy for my son the whole 10 days he was there. They are the best!

Very disappointed in the overall care at this facility s ER. The nurses in the ER were extremely unprofessional! They were laughing, shouting out other patients vital information for discharge, and counting down the time for their shift to be over. My grandmother threw up while in the ER and the nurses didn t even bother to clean her. At the time the kind man came to transfer my grandmother as she was being admitted, NO medical staff accompanied my grandmother, which I understand is protocol. I had to interrupt the nurses as they were too busy laughing and talking to ensure that my grandmother had everything she needed prior to the transfer. Medications were provided to the nurses who stated, they would provide it to their pharmaceutical team to compile a list of medications- THAT ISN T EVEN SOMETHING THEY DO! My grandmother was in terrible pain and the residency doctor who she met with, DID NOT even read her chart prior to meeting with her. What s worse is that this hospital offers a patient care experience representative who won t even speak with you if you re not the primary caretaker- what is the point of this role?!???? I believe the blessing in all of this was to have my grandmother admitted as we encountered kind and compassionate nurses (Beth, Sam, and Kidenia ). These professionals should truly be recognized and should find somewhere better that reflects the quality of care they provide. I would stay clear of this facility, either the workers have lost their empathy and compassion in this field or they never cared for patients to begin with.
