About QCI Behavioral Health

QCI Behavioral Health is located in Hagerstown, Maryland, and serves children, adolescents, adults, and families. They provide compassionate mental and behavioral health services through their outpatient mental health clinic, mobile treatment services, and telehealth services.

They recognize that mental health struggles require treatment from trained medical professionals who know what symptoms to look out for and how to respond. They also recognizes the importance of flexible treatment plans so that all individuals, no matter their life circumstances, have access to the care they need.

Their outpatient program treats adults and families navigating struggles including anger management, PTSD, depression, behavior disorders, and other behavioral health issues. You’ll work with counselors, therapists, and medical professionals utilizing therapeutic approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy, existential and spiritual therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and other supports.

What stands out to me is their mobile treatment service that offers more flexible access to treatment, and is a particular pillar of support for individuals who need more flexible access to care. Whether an individual is housed, experiencing homelessness, or is living in a homeless shelter, the mobile treatment services unit will work one on one with vulnerable individuals to get them the support and recovery treatment they need.

If you would like to access care from your own home, telehealth services are also available for individuals needing immediate assistance or those who cannot come to their office.

I can NOT believe that DAISY lets her clients scream and belittle and emotionally abuse another adult and child while she is on home visits. She just lets it all go on and not say one word.

I m appalled by the service I ve received here. I ve tried numerous times to explain my issues to the team I ve had but it seems hard to do so when my team is constantly changing. I ve had a therapist who has came into my house screamed at my pregnant fianc and threatened authorities in my home. I called immediately to report this incident and nothing was done of it except a therapist change. I should ve called the police. I ve over and over again explained the issues that I m facing with my psychiatrist and the best advice she gave me was saying how she wishes she could make all this go away . To this day I m still receiving text to reschedule with my team even though I ve gone far and beyond as a patient to point out the obvious. Also don t forget to sign during every visit even I ve they are literally 2-5 minutes long because all they need is the insurance claim for the day!

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

What I loved about my treatment was that further than helping me to get a full recovery they also helped my family to get over the bad situations my addiction provoked.

I have never had anything but a great experience with everyone that I'm so very blessed to have been assigned with at QCI. I have been working with April and she always goes a little extra (it seems) to follow through and make sure that everything gets done in a timely fashion. Tina (Nurse) is very personal and easy to get along with yet she's so beautiful inside and out.Ryann (Therapist) has been such an amazing person to me from day one and I don't know if I would be here without her because she has been a great lifesaver for me. She's the best person to give me grief coping skills with the losses of my son, husband, roommate, and mom. I also go to the office and meet with Fidelis. My team is the best one anyone could ask for. If you ask me I believe that we can knock it out of the park!!!

My caseworker CANNOT keep an appointment!!!Now my case worker,Dalton, called 10 hours before an extremely important court date and blew off his testimony .So very, very, typical. They don't give a damn just want that government money.Dalton is naive and not responsible enough for this position. I'm calling for his job !This will affect the rest of my life.Disappointed !

After being treated at a few practices/facilities, I can definitely say QCI is the best I ve ever worked with. They re professional yet laid-back, & compassionate when it comes to their services & patients. Being considered medication/treatment resistant, I ve finally started breaking through the resistance, as they work for AND with you. My last 3 years with them have been amazing, notably because of my NP Emily, therapist Devin, CSS Carla, & nurse Kat. Treatment is now something I look forward to rather than feel overwhelmed with thanks to QCI.

Although the home visits are nice, the medical staff has alot to be desired. Tammy Faye (not a psy) and her assailant, Tasha were derelict in there response to my calls for help. 3 days before a call back then another 3 days before I was going to get a call back from the PSY (Tammy), unacceptable. If your looking for a PSY look somewhere else.

Do not go here for alcohol addiction! They will not help you. You will be referred to a crisis bed at Meritus. You will be sent for bloodwork but will receive no medications. If you have a job or responsibility s you will have to detox on your own (since Meritus requires written consent for a 28 day rehab after your visit to one of the three crisis beds available) I wasted a month here going to therapy sessions and waiting patiently to see a nurse practitioner for medications. This is a dead end if you have a serious drinking problem. Tammy is misinformed, everything she told me about Meritus was incorrect. It felt like a wild goose chase, it is insensitive and unprofessional to treat a patient in this way! Shame on you
