About Psychiatric Centers At San Diego – Mission Valley

Psychiatric Centers At San Diego - Mission Valley, located in San Diego, California, offers behavioral healthcare on an outpatient basis to adults age 18 and older. They are able to treat dual diagnosis, but it’s important to note that they are not an alcohol and drug rehab center.

The outpatient program provides individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy Esketamine treatment, support for those who are a part of the LGBTQIA community, trauma treatment, medication management, transcranial magnetic stimulation, mental health support for women who are struggling during a postpartum phase of their lives, and more. This center uses evidence-based treatment interventions to support individuals in working through underlying emotions, beliefs, and trauma to help them create a healthy foundation for future wellness.

As a person moves through the outpatient portion of their treatment and demonstrates progress, they may choose to focus on a maintenance level of treatment, also known as aftercare. Clients may reduce the frequency they are connecting with peers and their mental health team.

Psychiatric Centers At San Diego – Mission Valley accepts most insurance plans, including Health Net, Optum Health, Uprise Health, Humana, and more. Out-of-network benefits may vary, so it’s important to verify coverage with the provider before starting treatment.

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

house-medical iconAftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

house-medical iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Couples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Eating Disorder Treatment

Eating disorders include anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, and dysfunctional eating patterns. Many psychologists and other mental health professionals consider eating disorders to be food addictions, meaning food is being used in an addictive way (similar to drug or alcohol addiction). Certain substance abuse treatment programs will have treatment for eating disorders as one of the services offered. An eating disorder may also present as a co-occuring disorder or dual diagnosis alongside drug and alcohol addiction.

Family Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Individual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life Skills

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Trauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I love my psychiatrist that I work with at Mindpath but I can never get the office staff either deliver a message to my psychiatrist or respond to any of my voicemails. I don t know if they just aren t checking them or if their phone system isn t working. The lack of response caused me to be without a necessary medication for over a week. And now it s been a week with no response since I called to schedule an appointment and had to leave a message. My psychiatrist is wonderful but not having responses to my messages isn t working for me.

If it was possible to give - stars I would. These people are actually sick. I called when my insurance changed to see if they still take it or get a referral and they assured me I needed an exit appointment which I tried to decline. The girl repeatedly said it s free because it s an exit appointment. I stupidly trusted this and accepted only to be billed $540. I called thinking it s a mistake and they said no exit appointments cost money and that I need to pay it. They said they d see what they can do only to never call me back and send the bill in the mail again. I get that they probably need the money after their reviews are tanking so hard but it s disgusting to make someone pay something they were assured wouldn t cost a dime. My psychiatrist was great but told me this is not the first person they ve led to believe their insurance isn t being taken and needed exit appointments so I m curious how many people they re trying to bill right now.

This is my provider through sharp they wouldn't even give me an appointment until I get a site testing from ten years ago. I even asked them to give me the test and they said no. I have had this diagnosis for decades and just trying to get back on my medication. They were rude unhelpful I will be contacting sharp.

Don't bother calling for an appointment. Since the acquisition by Mindpath, they've apparently entirely stopped answering their phones. You'll just sit on hold for 10+ minutes and then they'll hang up. Even calling Mindpath directly and having them try to contact the office completely fails. I'm pretty sure this location has closed and they're just not bothering to tell anyone.

RUN! Far from this place. If I could give -10 stars I would. It s been nothing but a nightmare. First they schedule an appointment with me and send no confirmation email, so I don t have the address, date or time. Then they call me 30 minutes before my appointment to remind me, but I m at work, so I call to cancel because I wasn t aware the appointment was even booked. They bill me $75- which I still haven t paid because I refuse to acknowledge this appointment existed without a confirmation email and not knowing it s location. Now, I tried to call to get a prescription refill, and they can t process it because I don t know the address of the center I receive care at, because I ve never received it in an email, nor do I have a patient portal or anything where I could look this information up.My actual psychiatrist is great but this place is a total patient mill. They aren t trying to help people, they just want to make money off as many of us as possible. As soon as I get my prescription filled, I m going elsewhere.

These people don't have your mental health as their top priority. They treat you like another $$$ grab opportunity as they continue to change prices and bill you ridiculous amounts for a 15 min televideo an absolute joke. They have the audacity to keep sending me scare letters like my condition will deteriorate if I don't continue these 15 minute way overpriced calls and to keep refilling and changing my prescription. No thanks! I have found services elsewhere your lost and sad my primary provider from Sharp even referred me here to begin with.

Being billed for appointments I never made. My psychiatrist was wonderful but the system of the agency is the worst. The psychiatrist I had for like lost 20 years until I had a different one should have chosen being in any field where she didn t have to deal with people. No personality and no people skills, had me on meds that kept me in a zombie state.

Crummy service. The receptionist tells me the psychiatrist is busy with patients today, and that isn't the reason why I haven't gotten a response on medication refill that I called about in the early morning. I ask her when she's free, and then she looks it up and realizes the Dr is out for the day. I don't appreciate someone lying to me because they aren't doing their job correctly. This company will try to get you to do telehealth meetings when all you need is a prescription refill... Just so they can charge $475 for 60 second conversation that isn't necessary. Then they will send your prescription to the pharmacy, and not bother to check if the nation wide shortage of the prescription will affect me. I get to waste my time driving to the pharmacy assuming the prescription is filled. To top it off, I paid my bill for the month, and they still send me the another invoice the following day, stating that I didn't pay. I guess they hope patients double pay.If you can find another company, I recommend you do. The customer service is terrible, at best.
