About Project Patch Ranch

Project Patch Ranch in Grand Valley, ID has been providing care and services to youth and families for more than 40 years. Project Patch has residential boys and girls programs. Each program is run on the same campus but completely independently of each other. They help youth deal with mental health struggles and behavioral issues including addiction. Their focus on addiction mainly covers technology, social media, and pornography.

Therapy includes individual, family and group therapy sessions. Dialectical behavior therapy is a large part of the treatment program here. It also includes weekly counseling, educational and mental health evaluations and support, behavior modification and trauma-informed treatment programs and aftercare programs to help youth adjust to life after their residential treatment program.

Much of the residential program at Project Patch is based on Christian faith and values. While they do focus their programming on these principles they do not discriminate against any individual based on religion, culture, or any other factor.

Faith is instilled in the youth who attend this program to help them realize their own worth and their potential. It also gives them a sense of greater strength and comfort with the knowledge of their
Creator who loves them as they are and wants them to accomplish great things in life.

Education is provided to residents of the Project Patch program. A portion of each weekday is spent on academic goals and educational pursuits. Located in a beautiful rural setting with stunning mountain views, Garden Valley offers lots to see and do. When your treatment ends, you can enjoy nature therapy through walks on local trails and enjoy the charming downtown district.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I graduated the program in 2018, and I did exceptionally well in the program according to the standards set by Patch, but I did not heal in any way shape or form while I was there. I am now a well-adjusted, healthy adult, making my way in the world. All of this is *despite* my time at Patch, not because of it. Don't send your children to places like this. Get them real, person-centred help.

If I could give a zero star review I would. Based on first-hand experience, I know the horrific nature of this place. Staff here is abusive to children as is the premise of the entire premise of the program. Forcing children to be on extreme doses of medications such as lithium to keep them sedated and easier to manage . They get off on the fear and extreme depression the kids in their care experience and do whatever they can, including isolation, physical restraint, hours upon hours on end of physical labor, to bring children to their breaking point so they can be easily manipulated. They manipulate the parents AND authorities by lying about the details of the program, and then force the parents to keep their children there even if they change their minds and want their kid home safe, away from these psychopaths. A sane, caring, normal person would never abuse children the way the staff & counselors at this school do. SHUT DOWN THE TROUBLED TEEN INDUSTRY. STOP ABUSING INNOCENT CHILDREN

I enrolled my daughter here a few months ago. It is located in a beautiful location in the mountains w a nice river that flows by it. The facilities are nice and it is well run. Had a good staff to child ratio. The staff are caring and nice and the program is very well thought out. The counselor she has is very good and they are teaching valuable skills. My daughter seems to like it there and we couldn t be happier.

I attended Patch for 6 months and it really changed my life! The staff at Patch are very caring and they work hard to make sure that the mistakes and issues you have had and done in the past do not define who you can become! They do test you and push your buttons sometimes, but it helps you to not have thin skin when somebody tries to push your buttons to annoy you. The DBT skills I learned there have helped me to deal with things now in a better way, rather than just lying or getting into useless arguments about things that end up not even mattering within a few minutes. The food at Patch was great, they supplied healthy food that got us through the day, and they made sure that it was made with love! I am now a senior in high-school and captain of my JV basketball team! I still today keep in touch with the Patch staff by calling the boys dorm and whenever I feel like I need to vent or just tell them about my day, they are always there to answer and listen!

Project Patch made me feel miserable. They claim to rebuild families but my life was just the same when I got back. Patch ripped me from my connection and communication with my parents by ensuring no more than 2 phone calls a week, 10 minutes each. They isolate you, make you feel horrible for every move you make and force you to talk about things that hurt you because it's "therapeutical" and they threaten to keep you longer and not let you go home if you dont talk about your pain or trauma. They are closed minded. Thank God I was Canadian and legally had to be on Canadian soil after my year was up. They couldn't accept that I had moved on from the things in my past. They just needed something to make them feel successful when they had they're morning staff meeting, even if it meant tearing apart the lives and security of young girls. I can honestly say that we all experienced ulcers eating out our stomachs at every staff meeting. Doesnt make a difference if we followed all the rules or held our peers accountable, they found some tiny reason to make you feel belittled. Just to look for a cause to give you a zero on the daily overview. Project Patch is not about rebuilding and helping teens, it's about isolation. It's very clear to see, especially when they divide half the girls in the dorm to separate groups to "reduce drama". What if there was someone in the other group that made you feel safe, some girl that you really connected to? Maybe someone that could become a life long friend? Well forget about that because you're not allowed to talk to the other group, make eye contact with the other group and God forbid you laugh at a joke told by the other group...cause it's considered "communication". Anxiety and stress, constant fast heart beating 24/7. Thinking about every move, "what if I get a zero?" ALL DAY, ALL NIGHT LONG! As a woman, we have bodily functions and if it grosses you out skip a few lines. Never in my life have I felt so much pressure and anxiety, hard core stress pumping through my veins! I didn't have my period for the first 4 months of being at Project Patch until my body finally adjusted to the stress. I had so much stress that my period stopped coming for 4 months after my arrival. Patch was a waste of my time, a year of my life gone that I can never get back and a waste of my parents hard earned money! Claiming to rebuild families when all they really do is drain the parents financially, and the teens emotionally and mentally! Please, I'm begging you, do not send ur kid here. PP is the place where anxiety and corruption lays.

We take comments left in reviews very seriously, and I welcome calls at 360-406-4789. Wynter Nichols This year, we have trained all staff and updated our program to include Trauma Informed Care. This therapy modality focuses on treating the whole child, while considering past trauma and the resulting coping mechanisms when trying to understand behaviors and help the teen as they work towards lasting positive change. This approach to care has been shown to increase the effectiveness of therapy in youth who have experienced trauma. We also continue to offer the highly effective Dialectical Behavior Therapy in our Individual, Family, and Group sessions. Project Patch holds a license with the State of Idaho Department of Health and Welfare and is accredited by both The Joint Commission and COGNIA. These organizations regularly conduct onsite reviews of our program that include interviews with staff and students currently in the program. The accreditation and licensing details are available upon request. We follow their guidance as reflected in our policies. Our staff are now trained in Trauma Informed Care and strive to help teens heal who may have experienced life challenges, trauma, And/or abuse. We now offer two modes of family therapy in person or via a telehealth platform for families who are unable to travel. Along with Family sessions, our state-licensed treatment professionals provide regular group and individual therapy following the dialectical behavioral therapy model (DBT).
