outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

aftercare iconAftercare

Clients receiving support in a rehab aftercare program typically partner with their case manager and care team to identify and access the services that best align with their recovery needs and goals. Rehab aftercare services are designed to evolve with clients' changing needs to promote their long-term sobriety. Care modalities are highly customized and may include a range of medical, mental health, and social service resources, including peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction.

12-step icon12-Step

12 step programs provide accessible peer coaching for participants at all stages of their recovery journey. Meetings are peer-led, anonymous, free, and available multiple times per day in most communities. Participants also receive one-on-one mentoring by a self-selected sponsor. 12 step recovery is based on spiritual principles, which enable participants to understand their disease, accept responsibility for their choices, and relinquish control over that which is unchangeable. Religious affiliation isn't required and specialized formats are available.

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

Most sober living homes in Maryland are located in peaceful, quiet neighborhoods. These private residences are designed to offer a low-stress but structured environment where residents can focus on their ongoing recovery efforts and receive support to maintain sobriety. Several individuals, all of whom are in recovery, share the halfway house. This type of communal living helps decrease relapse, increase employment rates, and helps individuals hone their recovery skills.

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

Once a person has become addicted to a substance, drug rehab in Maryland is often necessary to overcome that addiction. These programs provide the tools individuals need to manage the physical, mental, and emotional issues involved and begin a successful recovery journey.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

substance-abuse iconSubstance Abuse

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Cognitive behavioral therapy in Maryland emphasizes your current life rather than what has happened in the past. Your therapist will help you develop methods to deal with current and future challenges so you can cope in healthy ways that don't involve substances.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

The focus of trauma therapy is to heal the emotional wounds that occurred when you witnessed or experienced a traumatic event. Therapy helps you process this trauma emotionally and mentally so you develop healthier coping skills and improve your quality of life.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

When you participate in couples therapy, you learn how to understand each other better, improve your communication skills, resolve conflict, and improve relationship satisfaction. Your therapist will help you develop skills in each of these areas to strengthen your relationship.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Drove all the way out here to get a copy of our child's birth certificate because it stated on their own website that "Requests for certified Maryland birth certificates may be made at the Hyattsville location on a walk-in basis only for births that occurred in Maryland after 1940."Arrived to find that they changed their policy without updating their website. You now have to have an appointment and they have very limited hours (Their website states "Mondays Fridays 8:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m., which is no longer true). This shows a lack of respect of people's time and energy. Please do better with our tax dollars.

Went here to get vaccines for a child with insurance. After a 2 hour wait, I was called in the back only for the nurse to inform me that they didn t have any vaccines in stock for private insurance. This should have been communicated prior to/during registration and I would have gone somewhere else and not wasted my time.

The most awful medical facility. They press you to be on time but they take their time seeing you . The doctor was extremely rude and unwelcoming the nurses practitioner was not helpful at all I m a young female with no insurance and they treated me like dirt and wasted my time . I informed this medical staff of what my chief concern was which is a slight female problem that could easily be taken care of but I was being told they must test me for STD s and draw blood. I didn t personally require any of those type of test that had nothing to do with my reason for coming in I was told if I didn t draw blood then I couldnt be treated. How do you tell someone with a female problem and with no insurance you just can t help because you wanna do something extra that I m not agreeing to because they wanna get paid more I have that right , the doctor refused to come into the room and, then I was moved to a different room to only sit and wait no one actually doing what I needed . Then to be told after two hours of nothing that I couldn t receive antibiotics or a prescription for my issue nurse said yes you do have what u said it was after looking under to microscope but we don t have the pills in the building which was a lie then tells me she can t print a prescription??So they confirm what I knew and tell me I can t receive medicine what is there purpose for being a county health department when I wasn t treated for my actual problem they should be shut down.
