For two months my troubled granddaughter had been waiting to see the psychiatrist there. She has been in and out of the hospital while waiting. Her appointment finally came around and my daughter drove 20 miles to get there the required 30 minutes early only to be told her appointment was cancelled because she didn't text back in time to confirm her appointment. The day they sent her the message she was driving back from yet another stay at the hospital. If anything happens to my granddaughter I hold this supposed psychiatrist office responsible. What is someone who doesn't watch their phone 24/7 supposed to do? What about someone who doesn't have a cell phone or hasn't had the money to pay their phone bill. I guess their lives are of no importance.

-5 stars. Horrible experience. First appointment, the scheduler set me up for an appointment with Chelsea at 6 pm at the Knox location which is over an hour away. I received a text stating it was at the Valparaiso office, I called to confirm which location, they confirmed and even called back because they double checked to confirm 6pm appointment. The next day they call an hour before appointment to inform me she doesn t take appointments that late and they had to reschedule, even though THEY are the ones who set up the 6pm appointment. I make another appointment with the same person. The morning of that appointment I get a voice mail saying she s out of the office for the day and would rather do tele-med. I was originally told they NEVER do that with a first appointment. I call and cancel the appointment and tell them I will be going elsewhere. At one pm I get a voice mail from Chelsea calling for the tele- Med appointment and she wanted to explain what had happened. The audacity of these people acting like I am supposed to just continue rescheduling my appointments. Once I understood, but TWICE? No way. This place is a joke, I wouldn t recommend it to my worst enemy. Better management is needed and therapists who actually care about people.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
12-step icon12-Step
12 step programs foster participants' long-term sobriety through personal growth rooted in spiritual principles, though religious affiliation is not mandatory. Most 12 step meetings are non-denominational but are based on the belief in a higher power. Participants learn to understand and address the causes of their addiction, accept responsibility for their choices, and relinquish control for that which cannot be changed. Regular group meetings and mentoring by a self-selected sponsor are required.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
When families plan a drug intervention in Indiana, the goal is to create self-awareness in their loved one, so they acknowledge the need for treatment and get help. A professional interventionist can work with the individual's family members to organize this intervention and provide direction for follow-up. During the intervention, loved ones share how the individual's substance abuse has affected them, and the interventionist adds a clinical perspective on how treatment can help the situation.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

For long-term recovery from drug addiction, drug rehab in Indiana is often key. This treatment gives individuals who are struggling with a substance use disorder the tools to manage their disorder and achieve long-term sobriety.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

When you participate in cognitive behavioral therapy in Indiana, you'll learn to recognize distorted thinking that has led to substance use. Your therapist will help you establish new patterns of thinking and healthy ways to cope with challenges that don't involve substance use.

Individual dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) takes place in weekly, 60 minute sessions. You'll have homework to do, such as keeping a diary to track your emotions and actions. You'll also attend group sessions, which are intended to be skills practicing sessions. DBT in Indiana typically lasts six months to a year.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational interviewing aims to stimulate the client's personal motivation and commitment to change. Rather than receive advice and warnings from the therapist, the client is given the opportunity to share their concerns and reach their own conclusions.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

In couples therapy, you and your partner work with a psychologist to identify challenges in the relationship and what changes need to be made. You'll work on listening, communicating, and navigating those changes in healthy ways.

eye-movement iconEye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

No matter what your background or issues are, they offer mental, physical and emotional support. However, one nurse confused my meds and it was almost fatal. Receptionists hardly ever return phone calls,

Insanely horrible experience. Moved to the area from Nashville and I've never seen such disorganization and unprofessionalism; not even in an appalachian emergency room. I came so I could continue on my medication and was assigned to Dr. Xun. He ordered $900 worth of blood tests at the hospital for no reason - he never interpreted the results to me nor mentioned the tests again, but there was no hesitation in sending me a bill. He made me feel like a criminal for taking the anxiety meds my last psychiatrist had me on and did a dangerously fast titration that caused me brain zaps, tremors, and an overwhelming sense of doom that lasted for weeks. These people do not care about your well-being and are grossly underqualified to hold any positions in healthcare. Do yourself a favor and go to Community in Lake County or pay for a private psychiatrist.

Well today was my first attempt to try and have my son evaluated and admitted. After filling out paperwork and waiting 3 hours i was told he DID NOT meet their criteria. He was on the verge of having a psychotic episode. i do not no what their criteria is. Maybe banging your head up against a wall? They should be ashamed of themselves! UNBELEIVABLE!!!! So 3 hours later we are at the emergency room. I had to give them 1 star or it would not let me post a review.

The staff is constantly dedicated to providing mental, physical and emotional support, remedies and healing. No matter what your background or problems are, these caring people will be there for you and provide the support you need. They've been working with me for nearly a decade now and still haven't given up on me, when anyone else would've.
