About Phoenix House

Phoenix House offers customized outpatient and intensive outpatient substance use recovery. They’re located in Brandon, Florida. They serve adolescents and teens affected by substance use and co-occurring disorders. The latter is when someone is simultaneously struggling with both mental health and substance use disorders. This facility leverages their highly experienced and compassionate recovery team to deliver individualized care. They’re CARF accredited. This confirms their dedication to quality care. It’s also financially convenient that they accept Medicaid.

Their recovery approach delivers proven therapeutic practices like cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviews in group and individual sessions. The intensive outpatient program is more structured and involves up to nine weekly group sessions alongside individual support. Day and evening sessions are available for convenience. In contrast, the customized outpatient program involves individual sessions plus up to four group sessions weekly. Both programs offer flexibility since the teens can receive treatment without disrupting their academic schedule.

The program also involves health educational seminars, life training workshops and various active learning opportunities. This is in addition to family and peer recovery support. They strongly emphasize family involvement as evidenced by their family based therapy. The goal is to mend family relationships affected by substance use while focusing on the client’s long term health and wellbeing. Through the support of families, peers and loved ones, as well as quality recovery services, youth are better equipped to address their substance use issues.

The facility also provides comprehensive assessment and evaluation services, drug testing and referral services to inpatient residential care as necessary. They even offer scholarship opportunities to support young people in recovery with their educational pursuits.

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Hand holding medical sign icon Clinical Services

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

life-skills iconLife Skills

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

The tech at phoenix house Tampa has really gotten ghetto and lazy. Has the nerve to tell me to pour out his urine. Once I put it in a cup, it's his not mine. So unprofessional. Then, because I won't do his work for him he had the audacity to tell me to sit in the lobby for 5 minutes. I travel by bus for "4" hours to get there and another "4" hours to return home. I am a Veteran with Anxiety, Major Depressive Disorder, High Blood Pressure and Osteoarthritis. I do not need unnecessary Stress from that boy. 64 years old and he act like my name Toby and he my master.I would prefer to just pee and go!!!!!!!!!

This place is absolutely atrocious. My nephew was order to go here by the court. He had been close to 6 months clean untill his first day at this joke of a facility. On his first day there they have other kids annd grown adults offering thc carts to kids. So needless to say my nephew is no longer clean. And in order to find out he wasn t clean I had to personally drug test him because the phoenix house allows minors that are court ordered the refuse their drug test. If I could give this joke of a facility a lower rating I would. Honestly the state need to come in and clean out that place and get staff that actually cares about the recovery of others. And no I don t want to reach out to the owner, there s nothing you can do other than fix your business

My granddaughter goes here 3 x a week. Its really sad that the court ordered kids here come here high and share their carts with her. The therapist is still i. college and is manipulated by her. She is drinking excessive certain fluids to clean her out for the tests and he is buying into it. Ni fault of his own , just not enough experience to see through. Im not sure about the residential side but outpatient is just not working.

The psychiatrist at this place are ridiculous. Very rude and very unprofessional. Didn t even know their names until I saw the prescriptions. Two of them, an old man his name is Richard Gushwa. Also an old woman that I have no idea who she was, never introduced themselves. Went with my daughter to let them know about her meds. I am approved to get all information from her drs. My daughter was telling them I didn t think her meds were right. She had been telling me they weren t right. I spoke up and said she was the one that complained about them, but I agreed they were not right. The old woman rudely told me they needed ti interview her alone. Ask if I could come back in The old man said you have to leave because you are being disruptive. I left. The prescription they gave her went from a 10 mg dose to a 40 mg dose. Sent her to the ER that night. Never again, will my daughter go to see those so called Drs.

First of all....setting up an appointment here was an absolute nightmare! I called over 7 times! So I finally had to take off of work in order to make an appointment in person at the front desk. While I was making my appointment I asked the heavy set dark hair male if he had any patients that held a medical marijuana card and he assured me they did and it was no problem. After waiting a week to be seen by anyone I find out they do not treat anyone that holds a medical card. So now I get to violate probation and do six months at least in cnty jail. Before I left I asked the guy who told me more then once to my face why he said they except med cards and he strait up lied and said he never said such a thing. Wear a go pro at all times people!!! This place is not legit and will wasted your time. And strait up bold face lie in your face!!!!! Thanks a lot For such wonderful service.....NOT!!! Go some place else people..this place sucks.
