For as long as I can remember, I've been trapped in a never-ending cycle of addiction. From the medications prescribed to me as a child, to the prescription opiates I graduated to , I've spent my entire life battling demons that I couldn't escape. And even when I finally found myself on Suboxone, a medication meant to save me from the grip of opioids, I realized that I had simply traded one addiction for another. As the months turned into years, I watched in horror as I lost myself piece by piece. My family, who had always been my rock, began to see the mask that I wore to hide the truth of my struggles. They saw the facade crumbling, and they knew that they were losing me. But even though I was still functioning still working, still taking care of my responsibilities I couldn't shake the feeling of hopelessness that had taken over my life. When my family finally confronted me about my addiction, they suggested that I go to a traditional rehab like some of our relatives had done for their struggles with alcohol. But the idea of locking myself away in a facility for months, cut off from the world and forced to endure a brutal detox, was more than I could bear. I had tried a rapid taper from Suboxone before, and the experience had been hellish. The physical withdrawals had been agonizing, and the mental and emotional toll had lingered for months to up to a full year . I knew that I couldn't put myself through that again. From a young age, I had always been drawn to non-traditional approaches to healing. I had a deep distrust of Western medicine and its tendency to mask symptoms rather than address the root causes of illness. And as I struggled with my addiction, this feeling only intensified. I knew that I couldn't continue down the path of taking pill after pill, never really getting better. But I didn't know what other options were available to me.That's when I remembered a documentary that I had seen about ibogaine, a powerful plant medicine that had been used for centuries in rituals in Africa. I had been fascinated by the stories of people who had used ibogaine to overcome addiction, and I couldn't help but feel a spark of hope. But as I began to research, I realized that ibogaine was illegal in the US, and that seeking treatment would mean traveling to a foreign country.Despite my fears, I knew that I had to explore this option. I couldn't continue down the path that I was on, and I was desperate for a way out. So when my family asked me what I wanted to do, I told them about ibogaine. To my surprise, they were open to the idea. They began researching clinics in Mexico, and they quickly stumbled upon the POI Institute. As soon as they spoke with Diane, the founder of the clinic, they knew that they had found the right place. Diane's kindness and compassion came through clearly over the phone, and my family could tell that she was someone who truly cared about helping people heal. They were impressed by the clinic's small size and focus on individualized care, and they felt confident that I would be in good hands. As soon as I arrived at the clinic, however, my fears began to melt away. The facility was beautiful, with lush gardens and a peaceful atmosphere that immediately put me at ease. They even had a resident pup named Poppy and a cat named Reese. And from the moment that I met Diane and her husband George, I knew that I was in the right place. They greeted me with warm smiles, open arms, and they made me feel like I was family. My nurse Chuy, monitored my health as I began the process of tapering off subs. He was kind, non-judgmental , and quite the chef. When I finally emerged from the ibogaine experience, I was shocked by how clear and focused I felt. I had no cravings, and I felt no withdrawal symptoms. It was as if the medicine had reset my brain and body, giving me a fresh start. I am finally living the life that I deserve. And it's all thanks to the power of ibogaine, and the incredible team at the POI Institute.Love Amber A

I came to Austin Addictions in 2017 for the first time. I was very happy with the intake assessment and the professional staff, both in 2017 and current 2023. Over the years I worked closely with Paige Austin. She s a one in a million type of person she helped me in ways no one else has my whole 34 years on this earth. Paige helped me realize that as long as I am striving and working to be a better me that s all that matters and not to be concerned with others opinions on me. My favorite quote she always said to me was , A flower doesn t go around saying it s a flower. Austin s Addiction is where I finally got the strength to get my addictions under control and where I just so happened to meet my significant other. So thanks Austin Family! Highly recommend!!! I wish I could give more stars 5 is certainly not enough.

(Wife Amy posting) Chambersburg saved my life in January. The hospital has been getting a bad rap over the past few years and I believe it's due more to short staffing & the COVID-19 shot policies, and a few bad staff apples. God & C-burg pulled me through septic shock during an 8-day stay. I received practically exemplary care from just about everyone who worked my case, (shout-outs) from Bobby in ER, to CCU nurses, through discharge. Dr. Guthrie in Wound Care continued with me afterwards (all staff there are wonderful). I was too sick to transport anywhere else and they did a great job for me, not initially knowing what all was wrong with me. For them it's probably just another day at work on too long of a shift but for me it was my life.

I would happily like to update the fact that she no longer works there. That's a great blessing. My son told his awful therapist exactly what she wanted to hear and committed suicide. He was so much smarter than she was. Huge disappointment. She had to say a cuss word every other word out of her mouth, she was very unprofessional. He was of age so she couldn't speak to us, as parents but in all honesty she was a mom hater. Dad would pick him up and she would speak to him for an hour.

Sheppard Pratt has saved me with their support and structure, as well as providing insight to others struggles and victories over what has plagued them to the point of being apart of the program. There is a lot of available help in this town and without it, I wouldn't have reached the level of stability I'm at now, which took work, patience, and time. If I didn't have the ability to utilize the resources that Sheppard Pratt has to offer, I'd still be sick. From the reviews I read before going. I was concerned. It wasn't as bad as what the people wrote.Pros:1. Good Food2. Dana, Melissa, and Kelli (Nurses) where my absolute favorite. Kelli was there for me the first couple days of detox helping me push through.3. Most of the CAs are nice. Some do play favoritism. Ms. Q was extremely understanding to my needs. Angel was a great listening and would ask me if I was ok if he caught me sitting by myself. Ms. A is also one of my favorite she does what she can to help.4. The real groups that are actually ran are great.Cons:1. Understaffed in the councilor department. I only had 2 actually scheduled sit down with mine in the 30 days I was there.2. People don't necessarily leave on there discharge dates which makes them to be frustrated. The staff acts like there's no reason for them to be upset.3. If you are sick they will not let you rest at all except for the scheduled time each day at 3pm. That isn't comfortable especially when everyone is sick and we are forced to stay up.4. Staff does not really break up arguments or fights until it gets out of control. A couple of times I felt unsafe. At that point some people are overwhelmed and anxious.Overall though I didn't really make a breakthrough until Wednesday a couple days before I left. I thank Tom for that and he wasn't even my councilor. He actually took the most time out for me even when I could see he was busy and seemed to not have time. He seemed to always have time for all of us if we asked.
