outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

aftercare iconAftercare

Rehab aftercare programs offer a complete continuum of care for clients in the maintenance phase of recovery and are predicated on the idea that addiction disease is a chronic condition prone to relapse and warranting continuing care. Clients collaborate with their care team and case manager to access the specific rehab aftercare services they need to promote their sustained sobriety. Peer coaching, relapse prevention services, career counseling, and 12 step program induction are common in these programs.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

Often used as a "step-down" option after you've completed a residential or inpatient program, the partial hospitalization program (PHP) typically involves a minimum of 20 hours of treatment per week for approximately 90 days. Programs offer structured programming that includes relapse prevention, medication management, and behavioral therapy services. Insurance coverage for PHP treatment varies among insurance providers.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

Individuals in early recovery often require 24-hour clinical care in North Carolina. This supervised care typically includes medications to treat specific withdrawal symptoms, which vary based on the substance abused. For example, staff may provide sleep aids to treat insomnia in patients who are addicted to marijuana. For those overcoming a cocaine use disorder, anti-depressants may be prescribed to manage mood swings. Other medications may also be provided to treat addiction-related health issues.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

There are many types of drug rehab in North Carolina. To receive treatment for addiction, you can choose from many inpatient and outpatient programs. Often, participants start with detox and work through a full continuum of care that continues with ongoing support for long-term recovery.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Hand holding medical sign icon Clinical Services

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

equine-therapy iconEquine Therapy

Equine therapy, aka equine-assisted therapy (EAT), is a form of experiential therapy that involves interactions and activities with horses. It does not necessarily involve riding horses, but all activities related to horses, such as feeding, grooming, haltering and leading them. A mental health professional frequently oversees the activities (often in conjunction with a horse professional), and helps patients process their thoughts, feelings, and behavior patterns during and/or after the interaction.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

life-skills iconLife Skills

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

medical-detox iconExperiential Therapy

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

This place is nice, the nature is amazing & the food was decent. Given that, the treatment is subpar.I brought up many times my adhd was an issue & when I spoke to the medical director, he responded in an immature manner. Mockingly asking me if I wanted stimulants, like no dude, I'm in rehab I'm not asking for drugs, I was asking for help. The communication was nonexistent. I had no idea what was expected of me. I learned more from the other patients than the faculty, which the guys also thought the lack of communication to patients was unprofessional. It wasn't until 3 weeks in that I finally started to understand. Also, I was under the impression that my treatment was moving onto extended care for 6 additional weeks. Turns out you need to "graduate" & at 5 weeks I found out I was being sent to sober living instead. I had no idea treatment was going to change until I was practically discharged. I was told that was a possibility staff were considering since I got there, but I was never told a thing. The medical director, as I alluded to earlier is not professional. At least not with me. Talking to me like a child with a condescending voice. He even started to yell at me while I criticized their recommendation for me to need inpatient. It doesn't seem like bringing up concerns should be pushed back against so defensively, especially not if that's how one learns. That place did not like it one bit if you had any criticism,I even heard a staff member say that if I didn't like something it didn't matter because nothing was going to be done. Some of the people giving us lectures didn't even seem to know what they were talking about. When we started asking some more real questions, we weren't informed of an actual answer. Finally, the covid policy is absolutely ridiculous. We get tested before being admitted & that's the final time. It doesn't matter that we all go off site weekly, no one gets tested again. Turns out covid was rampant & everyone was sick. What they decided to instead of testing everyone, is start moving around the patients to different rooms. When I got covid, I got tested to be responsible, but apparently it was optional. I even had staff walk in my room while I had covid, without a mask. Like what? There are much worse places to go for treatment, but this place is not worth the extraordinary cost.

I would be very careful with the Pavillon. I signed and cancelled a contract withing 24 hrs in buisness days and they would not refund money or work anything out. I would not send them any money unless you are sure you do not want it back. They are all about the money. I am having to get a lawyer to try to get my money back. I would be very careful with this facility it seems they are more about profit than doing the right thing. Becareful

I had an amazing, life changing experience at Pavillion. I was struggling with debilitating depression and codependency so I attended their 30 day program twenty three yrs ago. It was the last session which included the teachings of Gilles and Liliane Desjardins, who established Pavillion. I was very fortunate to attend that fall session in the beautiful North Carolina mountains. It doesn't get more peaceful than that!

When I arrived December 28, 2019, I truly didn't think I had anything left to fight this disease with any more. While I had enormous successes in long stretches of recovery, I would eventually relapse and lose everything, and more. This last time I didn't want to fight anymore; I couldn't live with or without drugs or alcohol, and tried very hard to kill myself. Arriving at Pavillon, not only was I very discouraged about another attempt at recovery, I still wasn't sure if I wanted to live. The education I received was exceptional, and relieved decades of guilt and shame. The counseling was unlike any I'd had before and helped me change thinking patterns that were so unhealthy. Then when I left and was met with repeated challenges in recovery, I remembered they offered a Relapse Prevention Track and would call and email to see if the COVID restrictions were lifted yet. With each family member who died or other extreme life stressor, while they sadly said no for 4 years, they still offered me love, hope, and support. Then 3 weeks ago with stresses unlike I'd ever faced in my entire life, I felt using wasn't an option but having a nervous breakdown was, they said yes, I could finally come back. They asked which counselors I'd like to work with and lined them up; then made more available when I got there. Everyone welcomed me joyously with open arms. They helped me work HARD on my pain, grief, loss, trauma, fear, and more.... and the week was transformational. My husband feels like he has his wife back. My family and friends are amazed. So am I.I had forgotten they offer alumni to return periodically, for FREE, for the rest of our lives. I plan on doing just that, because one of the gifts they taught me is that self care is not selfish.
