About Pathfinders of San Diego

Pathfinders, located in San Diego, California, is an alcohol and drug rehab center that provides addiction treatment services to individuals who are seeking help with their recovery. Their levels of care include residential treatment and sober living homes.

The residential program is for those who need around the clock care at the initial stages of treatment. Individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, couples counseling, case management, evidence-based treatment interventions, relapse prevention services, and peer-support services are provided. The length of stay depends on the unique needs and goals of the client.

The sober living home provides a safe place where individuals in recovery can live with others who are dedicated to their recovery. Clients will need to maintain their abstinence and work their program to the best of their ability, while living in a supportive home that encourages them to move forward in their lives in a healthy way. House rules, house chores, and treating others with dignity and respect are required in effort to create a harmonious environment.

Pathfinders accepts most insurance plans, including Amerigroup, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Magellan, ComPsych, Tricare, and more. Out of network benefits may vary, so it’s important to verify coverage with the provider prior to starting treatment.

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

substance-abuse iconSubstance Abuse

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Pathfinders saves lives, and better than that, CHANGES lives. Its alumni pool is loaded with happy, successful people who are making the world a better place with their contributions to it. And it was Pathfinders that set those men on their positive course. In my humble opinion, Pathfinders is an exemplary model for what residential SUD treatment should be.

In the business of saving lives, in a clean and stable environment in a nice neighborhood and nice house with staff who treat you like human beings, knowing that everyone makes mistakes and deserves a second chance. And not only do they help with recovery, but they help with everything you could possibly need from doctors, dentist, taxes, housing, outpatient, finding meetings, case management and more. I think it is the oldest facility of the like in San Diego county.

I only gave Pathfiders 5 stars because there wasn't an option for 6. Pathfinders saved my life. Period! The "old-timers" like Mike, Steve and Joe laid it out to me in the simplest terms: surrender or die. I was in a downward spiral, and if not for the efforts of the staff and the fellowship of AA, I would not be here today. God bless Pathfinders of San Diego.
