About Paterson Counseling Center

Paterson Counseling Center is an alcohol and drug rehab center for adults in Paterson, New Jersey. They offer substance abuse counseling and medication assisted treatment on an outpatient basis. They provide specialized services for pregnant women and clients who are facing charges of driving under the influence.

You can go here to attend individual and group counseling services. Your counselor will work with you to help you understand more about the disease of addiction and identify your triggers. They’ll also show you healthy coping techniques you can use to deal with stress and anxiety instead of turning to drugs or alcohol.

Their methadone maintenance program is designed to support your long term recovery. If your providers believe that FDA approved addiction medications can help reduce your pain levels, curb your cravings, and lower your risk of relapse, they may prescribe methadone as part of your extended pharmacotherapy plan.

One former client says the counselors here are polite and respectful. She also mentions that the clinic is strict on never closing early so everyone has the help they need. Another client says he would never have gotten clean without this facility.

I've been at this clinic going on a year. Before admitting that I couldn't do it alone and that this was my last option, Without giving any 2nd thoughts, I grabbed the door handle and opened it and it was history from that day forward. No, it has not been an easy journey. I've had days that I just felt like jumping in front of a truck or a train. After much thinking and much denial, I said to myself, ALL YOU'RE GONNA DO IS MAKE ALL THESE PEOPLE LATE FOR WORK OR LATE GETTING HOME. So I just grabbed my phone and call the only being on this planet who will never ever lie to me. Grandma told me, STOP BEHAVING LIKE A LITTLE B!+@H AND GO ON AND FINISH WHAT YOU STARTED. I LOVE YOU AND I'M GONNA ALWAYS BE RIGHT NEXT TO YOU WHEREVER YOU GO. GIVE SOME SUGGA AND GET OUTTA MY FACE, I WANT TO WATCH THAT SEXY MFR DANZEL WASHINGTON. And I've been trying to find myself and see what my purpose in this life is. The staff are very, very reasonable people. Some of them were in our shoes at one point in life. But they have themselves a chance at life. And they are always smiling, talking to people, giving free advice, and the most important thing that they all do, THEY ACTUALLY (HEAR)YOU WHEN YOU'RE TALKING TO THEM. A lot of people listen to your voice, they listen to the sound coming out of your mouth. The Staff there HEAR YOU when you are talking to them. There's a huge difference in someone listening to you and someone HEARING your cries for help, your achievements, how your journey in recovery is going. TO WHOEVER READS THIS REVIEW AND IS GOING THROUGH HELL WITH ADDICTION, COME OVER, THE DOORS ARE ALWAYS OPEN TO WELCOME YOU. AND HOPEFULLY I'LL BE THERE TO WELCOME AND ENCOURAGE SOMEONE TO STAY AND GIVE "IT" A CHANCE TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE. Paterson Counseling Center, LOVES US ALL TRULY YOURS...GADIEL "MELO" CANDELARIA

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Clients often enter inpatient rehab following detox, but they may also enroll during early recovery or at an increased risk of relapse. Inpatient rehabs provide housing, meals, and intensive clinical supervision, allowing clients to focus exclusively on their recovery in a highly structured and supportive environment. Clients typically receive multiple individual, group, and/or family therapy sessions weekly. Many programs also offer extensive addiction education and recovery-focused life skills training. Integrative inpatient rehabs provide holistic therapies as well.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in New Jersey is the process of addressing the complex issues involved with addiction. Challenges are identified and addressed through individual and group counseling. Participants learn how to manage these issues without the use of substances.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in New Jersey typically follows a set structure of treatment. The therapist helps clients identify their life challenges and their thoughts surrounding those challenges. The client then learns to identify unhealthy thought patterns and reshape those into healthy patterns of thinking and behavior.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Family therapy sessions address addiction related conflicts and other issues between members of the family unit. By strengthening communication and coping skills, as well as creating a nurturing environment, the family can help support their loved one's recovery.

Building life skills allows you to demolish negative patterns of behavior and build new, healthy patterns. By building new thought processes, coping strategies, and behaviors, you establish a solid foundation for recovery.

Accreditations

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is a branch of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Established in 1992 by congress, SAMHSA's mission is to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness on American's communities.

5 stars? 4 stars? 3, maybe... 2 stars because well, they opened the door! Thank you... Stop kissing it people, for real. I've known this place for the past 10 yrs. No where near a 4/5 star rating. As long as they get funding, you're a friend. The world doesn't center around this clinic, but they think so! If you start a job, just hope you don't have to come in when they 'have to see you." You won't get served and you will be late until they see you. Don't bother explaining, they don't care. Northeast Counseling in Passaic is a little better. Get out of Paterson Counseling Services! The poster child for liquid handcuffs!

Unlike other clinic's that have waiting lists to get in. I was able to come down at 5am and get medicated by 10am .
