I stayed at Las Encinas for almost 14 days. While the facility does have its imperfections (similar to any business, hospital, institution and/or human being), I was always treated with dignity and respect. There were certainly moments where I was struggling badly, but even in those moments I was largely treated with professionalism, compassion, and candor. Huge props to Dennis and Doug (and Nancy!) for walking me back from the proverbial cliff on two separate occasions. It takes special people to pull that off. At the end of the day, the staff did care about our well-being and were always trying their best, even at the end of their 3rd or 4th 12hr shift. One or two could probably try harder, but we do need to have some empathy.Staff special shouts: DOUG, Dennis, Nancy, Carmen, Enrique, Kim, Christian, Angela, Favour, Tina, Corri, Sharron, Alma, Ysenia, Myra, Patrick (Jedi therapist), Julie C, Dr A, Trev dawg, and the countless other staff who's names are escaping me. Sorry! Also, there was a tall nurse with a ponytail who gave me a book titled, The long way to a small angry planet . I only met him for once during my intake and once in the hallways but dude that guy changed my life.My fellow patients were all beautiful human beings simply going through hard times. Shockingly normal too. A couple people did end up needing a higher level of care but I genuinely felt safe around everyone. Highly recommend this place. To the other commenters: I m glad you were all able to express your opinions. Every hospital should be accountable to the clients under their care.

Hi Matt, thank you for sharing your experience at Las Encinas. We're thrilled to hear that you felt safe and well-cared for during your stay. Our team truly values each individual's wellbeing and we appreciate your kind words. All the best to you!
Dr. Marshall is a remarkable, amazing human being. His life is a living example of Gods grace. Dr Marshall has a passion for people and literally lS a living sacrifice. His life and testimony are nothing short of a miracle. As a Registered Nurse with over 29 years experience working in Level 1 and Level 2 Trauma Centers I have personally witnessed the consequences of addiction, the impact it has on the person experiencing it as well as the devastating effect it has on the family and loved ones involved. I have looked into the eyes of a mother of a teenage child who has overdosed from drugs and heard the primal cry of grieve far too many times in my profession.Dr. Marshall is intentionally, deliberately helping people one day at a time. I ve heard him say in room of over 125 people I m here for one or maybe two of you.. and that s ok.I have had the privilege of attending several of his speaking engagements as well as attending classes for continued education professional purposes. His trainings are filled with unmeasurable value and highly beneficial information.Dr. Marshall is a dynamic effective lecturer, speechmaker and author. He doesn t just talk the talk but actually walks the walk as the saying goes.I have read his two books Fear to Freedom: From Dumpster to Doctor and Factors of Transformation :Be The Change You Want. Both filled with transparent life story and practical principles that anyone can apply to their own life.Dr Marshall has a heart of gold ; truly a man after the heart of God who has a deeply rooted passion for helping change peoples lives. It s like the air he breathes. In these crazy ruthless scary times we live in, the world needs more people, more soldiers and lieutenants on the front line like Dr Marshall, who aren t afraid to step up and out and be different. As he often says ; Let fear be what it is .but do not let it determine who you are or how you behave. Words that have changed my life personally forever.God Bless you and keep you in HIS light!!!!

Thank you, thank you, and thank you. Shelly your words are encouraging and thoughtful. Sometimes we all need a lift in life and to feel appreciated and respected for who we are. I know I have a purpose that is much bigger than me and I am grateful that people like you see the value that God placed in me to help men and women who have lost hope or need hope to push forward in life and overcome substance abuse and human developmental struggles.

I went just in one day and they treated me very well. Thank you very much, but I understand English and I speak a little and what I can't do is read. I don't see the letters. I felt sad and I didn't come back, but everyone is very kind. Thank you.
