About Parkside Psychiatric Hospital – Trenton

Parkside Psychiatric Hospital ā€“ Trenton is a drug and alcohol rehab and psychiatric hospital in Tulsa, OK. They provide an intensive outpatient program, inpatient treatment, and co-occurring disorder treatment.

This center offers substance abuse treatment through an intensive outpatient program, residential addiction treatment, and mental health care for adults.

Parkside treatment plans help individuals custom design individualized treatment plans that identify and address thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that contribute to the personā€™s addiction. This level of care consists of diagnostic evaluation, medical detox, medication management, individual, group, and family therapy, case management, and discharge planning.

The IOP is for people who may not have had success with inpatient treatment or have relapsed with only occasional recovery meetings. This program includes information about addiction theories, the development of new coping skills, anger management, and relationship issues.

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

mental-health iconMental Health

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

medical-detox iconExperiential Therapy

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

They are horrible! My brother & I took my niece there, to try to get help for her.She has special needs & so they weren't able to help her.. ok that's fine. The lady then goes on to say, that my niece wouldn't be able to take care of herself , when she turns 18... OkShe says to us "you should really about giving the state custody" bc she told us, basically that we aren't old & my niece will out live us. We are in our early 40s! She didn't introduce herself as God.. when we met, do I'm confused as to how, she knows our death day.She also doesn't know what , ideas & resources we have for her care. My niece will never get a chance to be mistreated, by the state of Oklahoma.Idk if the state pays them to recruit for a kick back or what, but I will be talking to someone about this incident.I wasn't able to say what I needed to, bc my niece was there. We were there for a different reason, so there was no reason for her suggestion

First off, I want to say WHAT A FRESH BREATH OF AIR compared to Laureate . If I could save anyone from going through the horror I went through @ LAUREATE I will, @PARKSIDE is SO much more professional and put together. @MASI is UNMATCHED, her energy, attitude and smile are always there. She does an OUTSTANDING job calling and confirming your appointment/reminding. @LAUREATE I was told APPOINTMENT REMINDERS/THE CARD THEY GIVE YOU WITH YOUR APPOINTMENT WHEN LEAVING IS A curtesy NOT mandatory . RIDICULOUS. Parkside has done a great job of communicating with me as ANY mental health physicality should. Dr.Sharp works WONDERS, she is genuine about her work, and really really listens to you. She is there anytime I need her, and she is full of resources. I have never been so comfortable with a MH professional. She really makes me feel seen and heard. I could go on and on about how great Masi & Dr.Sharp are, my outpatient experience has been night and day different from past MH Professionals . I learned the hard way through experience on WHO actually takes MH and their clients seriously and appropriately. NEGATIVE stars for others, 5 stars for outpatient services. LOVE Masi & Dr.Sharp. You guys do change lives, thank you for the work you do.

I was in residential a couple of times and the staff there are very kind, they care and want to help you get better. The groups are amazing and very educational. You can learn alot of useful information from them if you want the help. It's also a reward system, so you get points for good behavior, getting along with other people, eating your food, making your bed, etc. It helps show your progress while you're there and it made me feel better about myself working towards leadership. I have some bad experiences there but it doesn't take away from the fact that its a great place to get help if you really want to better yourself. Parkside residential is by far the best mental hospital I've been too.

Thanks for your positive review and for recognizing the benefit of the groups and programming. We wish you the very best and congratulate you on your accomplishments.

I wish that I could give a better rating. This place is not that great. I went there for help because I was cutting myself, I was in the waiting room on July 1st from 7pm to almost 3am July 2nd, waiting for the adult unit to be ready. The staff are nice but I felt like I was being treated as a criminal. I was constantly having to ask to use the bathroom. I could not use my own phone to call my parents, I had to use their crappy unit phone. I had to wait til it was 6pm to use my phone, I wanted to leave so bad. One of the drs there wanted me to stay longer because he had thought my home was not safe. When it was time to be discharged after being there for a week, I was given my bag and my purse but not my cell phone. They did not bother to return my phone to me the day I was leaving. They had then lost my phone when I told them to send it to me in the mail. When I had called them from my mom s phone, they had told me that I was supposed to ask for my phone. Not when it s my personal belonging, they should have made sure that I had everything that I had when I went there to get help. I didn t receive my phone in the mail til Thursday July 11th at around 2pm. I will Not be coming back anytime soon.

Response from the owner2 months ago
Hi Jamie Thanks for taking time to write. Some of your experiences like asking for access to bathrooms and cell phones relates to very necessary controls that help to assure patient safety. We understand it can be uncomfortable to be in the psychiatric unit and experience restrictions, but please understand that we are working to keep the unit safe for everyone who is present. We regret that you left without your cell phone, but we were happy that it was safe in patient storage and that we were able to ship it overnight express back to you.

I could give you guys all kind of info an stuff that goes on in side this place because I worked there Dec 2023 to June 2024 I loved working there with a passion helping the kids was the best part but unfortunately they let me go they did not even try to find the real story or talk to the other techs that was with me when a 8 year old boy told his mother that I said something to him when I didn't at all I would not say what he said that I said to any child not even my own I was talking to another tech that was working there and the kid heard bits of what I said and called and told his mom the other two ppl that work there know exactly what happen but they didn't ask them nope they took the words of a 8 year old in a physc hospital that didn't want to be there and wanted to find a reason for his mom to go get him and take him home I work my but off there and made sure that the rules was followed cant say much about the rest of the staff but this is exactly y they cant keep staff I heard so many other employee that said actual stuff to the kids that was 100 times worse then what the boy even said that I said SMH but that don't matter because They don't care. The kids probably wouldn't mind being in this hospital if they would feed them proper meals and not chicken every day i literally seen kids that didn't eat breakfast lunch or dinner cause they said it was gross or they have the same thing every day I could go on an on about this place but it is pointless this place was my heart when it came to these kids and well it is now shattered. Not to mention hey yall your kids r literally in fights everyday. Ur kids r hitting staff and getting away with it .

Dear parents are anybody that is truly concerned about their loved one do not do not take them here. I literally filed a formal complaint against the doctor because unless your kid is has a knife to their throat going to kill them at that moment, they are not gonna take them unless they re a liability for them if they leave, nothing more nothing less not that that s not a big reason but there s others that could be almost to that point that they re turning away for no reason by 10-year-old who weighs less than 80 pounds was slamming himself up against a wall. That was completely metal and they sat there and watched it did nothing. So please just go the other way. Do not waste your time start in the Oklahoma City area and with your local therapist and have them do more therapy until you re able to get him in a place that s actually work it worth it.........NOW THE RESPOSE UNDER IS ALMOST A MONTH LATER !!!! I CALLED AND MADE A FORMAL COMPLAINT THAT DAY AND STILL HAVEN'T RECIEVED A CALL BACK. SO PLEASE SAVE THAT!!!

Not everyone presented at a hospital will meet the legal requirements, or medical necessity criteria, to actually be admitted to a hospital. We do care about your experience and if you would like to speak with someone about it, or about medical necessity, please feel free to call Parkside at 918-582-2131. You can ask to speak with the Director of Business Development or with the Access Manager.

I wish i could give this place 0 stars. i mean the staff seriously did not care at all. i was in the children's section and they based us off of a point system. that point system was the only way you could get out. not to mention how belittled i would get by the staff. i remember having to read while bawling my eyes out as a poor 6 year old was bashing his head into the wall. i and a different patient had to stop him while the staff watched. you couldnt have any freedom in there. they would take us outside but the outside was just two big walls blocking the sky. while i was in there i remember there being a teacher believe her name was Ms. Pam. i remember when she called a literal 8 year old stupid for not knowing his times tables. She was always so rude. there was another staff member though, who straight up said at the end of the day i can leave, and you cant. parkside is the reason i am scared to go out and do new things. i now have social anxiety and luckily ive gotten better parkside did NOT aide to that one. single. bit.
