About Parkview Behavioral Health Institute – Park Center

Parkview Behavioral Health Institute – Park Center is a health facility that offers drug and alcohol rehab services. They are located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. They provide services for people with substance use disorder and alcohol use disorder.

This company provides both residential treatment and outpatient treatment. However, this office only offers outpatient treatment. When you enter the facility, they will give you a full assessment. If you need inpatient care, they can refer you to one of their inpatient centers.

They offer an intensive outpatient program that involves coming into the office several times a week for several hours a day. The program goes for about eight weeks. You will have group therapy sessions each time you come in. You will also have individual therapy sessions. Most people in recovery are treated with cognitive behavioral therapy, which teaches people to look at things differently in order to change bad behaviors.

This facility puts an emphasis on education. You will learn about the effects of alcohol on your body and on those around you. You will also learn about how alcohol affects your judgment.

If you are addicted to opioids, they can provide long term medication assisted treatment to manage your withdrawal symptoms. They can also administer this medication to you. You will be able to take it home once you’re stabilized.

They will help you make an aftercare program. This will include references to vocational training and community 12 Step meetings that are hosted at another facility.

I have had a bad experience with Park Center on/off for years and other services provided by them. Some of their workers were professional but some of them weren't so kind. My needs weren't completely met. They wanted me to come back to get evaluated again to remove a diagnosis and I believe the psychologist misdiagnosed me with the wrong condition. I was refused for any therapy after grieving therapy wasn't available to me. I have some insurance that may cover regular therapy, it didn't cover the grieving therapy but no other resources they can offer me to heal. Now I seek help from other centers who will listen to their clients and understand what's going on with their lives.

If you'd like an example of how little your mental health means in a capitalist system, this is the place for you. You can count on being ignored, gaslit, and pushed to the brink of your already fragile sanity by a group of people who can only be described as sadists or oblivious idiots.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Persons who require high-level support but who do not wish to leave their homes or communities may enroll in an intensive outpatient program (IOP). Clients typically commit to a minimum of nine treatment hours across three therapeutic sessions per week, but many programs offer up to 20 hours of care weekly. Most intensive outpatient rehabs provide a combination of psychotherapy, recovery education, and holistic care. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is widely available for those in alcohol or opioid recovery.
outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Ridiculous, unprofessional place. Needed to reschedule my first DBT therapy session. I ve been trying to reach Jill, the session leader, for over a month, since February. I ve left her over 15 voicemails this month and no response. On top of that, my final session with my regular therapist I left early because she made me start sobbing being extremely insensitive. No one here wants to help you, I ll bring looking for DBT treatment elsewhere.

This is the last place you should go if you need mental help. In fact! You will need MORE mental help if you go here. The staff is absolutely terrible. They do not listen to you. They do not hear you. They judge you and immediately try to tell you what meds you need based off of a 3 minute interaction. Absolutely disgusting. They forced me into treatment I didn t need. Then threatened me if I didn t do it. None of them deserve a license. None of them know what they re doing. They re human like the rest of us. They can t fix anything. And they surely don t help.

I came there because I was desperate for help with substance abuse. After filling out paperwork I was seen by a student who read off of a computer some very generic questions for me in which I answered. That was literally it!!! I was given a list of groups to go to that are already open to anyone and online. The "groups" didn't work and I already told them this. I was given a drug test and then sent away to deal with it on my own. No counselor.....no doctor....not even a concerned human being talked to me about my problem whatsoever. Needless to say I'm still using more than ever now knowing that if I need help then the only thing I'm going to get is a bill. Honestly I'm scared to death of overdosing but they were my last hope and the last chance I will ever give parkview.

I liked my therapist. The only problem I had was that I let one therapist read some very important papers and I never got them back. Every time I questioned him he said he'll look. He just can't find them. These are very important and personal. I would like them back.
