I remember kind of having fun there sometimes I mean it was kind of jail so that sucks too but there were worse places I remember the staff at Clark cottage around 84-85 were kind of cool, I mean nobody was a particular asshole. They took some of us camping up to big sur I remember that was pretty cool . I forget his name but the kind of weird kid who ate the live goldfish at the lodge took off right after we got there and nobody could find him. So we ended up going back to pl and a couple weeks later, The ranger called and said they found him dead. Another dude in Clark cottage, Dan Stanton hung himself and I found him hanging in the closet that sucked John from niemeyer cottage was the basketball coach. Carter lived in the oto and was awesome on the guitar I remember we went and had someone buy us beer and we went and stashed it in the lifeguard tower of the pool and the gutters of the cottage all iced down .So when we were all out doing chores the next day we were all drinking beer having a great time Someone put some beers in the tank of the toilet and that's how we got caught lol more chores lol ! Yeah actually lots of memories from that place. Hope everybody that was there found their way Most of us weren't troubled youth. It's just hard growing upOh yeah ,mister murphy and those shasta sodas !

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I was there from 1984 to 1988. They used to call me the lifer. I remember that old sweatbox they called their basketball gym before they tore it down and built the one they have today. I had the privilege of playing ball in both. I started in BEKINS then went to WOODLAND which was an off campus house. Then WOODLAND closed down so I ended up in SAUBLE. All the cottages were BEKINS, SAUBLE, NIEMEYER,CLARK and OTO ( Over The Office ) As you can see, I'm 53 years old now and I'm doing fine!

As one of the San Fernando Valley's oldest sites where education, embracing socialization and enduring youth outreach and community strengthening occur -- Pacific Lodge is a precious beacon of hope and light for young teens. Having worked with both the leadership and staff, as well as met and seen the progress of youths who discover new views of their place "in the sun," Pacific Lodge justifies every stakeholder's investment in clear synergies -- every new day. The world is a better place because of people like the team at this youth center.

I lived at PL 1964-66I remember Mr. Murphy he was the Assistant Director for many years. He came to Juvenile Hall, tolled me all about P.L. then asked me if wanted to live there. Hell yes I want to go there. I was in Juvie because I kipped running away from CBH, an orphanage in Inglewood, where they where slapping us around every chance they got. It really surprised me that at P.L. the staff were always so nice to us. If we misbehaved they would have us puling weeds some times all day but they never hit us. I was in Clark Cottage. It took me a long time before I felt comfortable enough with my housemother there to even speak to here. I don't think anyone ever knew her real name. We all just called her Mom or rereferred to her as Miss Clark. I don't think that was her real name. I remember Barany he was the Clark Cottage housefather. He had a dog named Mike that he clamed was not his dog. But the dog and everyone else knew otherwise. In those days there was a lot of open spaces around P.L.. And big tall tress lining the drive way and parking lot in front of the office as well as around the cottages. A few years ago I drove up Serrania Street on my way true the 101. Its a shame they cut down all those trees and built a wall around the place. I hope they at least still have a dog at the Boys Home.
